Location
About the surrounding area of La FinquitaLa Finquita is located between Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa in a fabulously green spot. It is peaceful and serene, yet it is within easy reach of this resort and Alcudia. Guests enjoy exploring the island’s majestic mountains, sleepy, charming villages and famous caves. Cyclists are in heaven when they discover the mountain roads and stunning views.
The majestic Old Town of Pollensa is famous for its enchanting walls and bustling main square, Placa Major. It is the place to head to for excellent restaurants, coffee and people-watching. The town’s buzzy, popular Sunday market boasts delicious food stands as well as souvenirs and leather goods. The 365 Calvari Steps lead from the Placa Major to the top of the town, where you will enjoy astonishing views and visit the pretty, intimate Church of Nostra Senyora dels Angels. Light spills through the stained glass windows to illuminate its gorgeous interior. Just off the Placa Major are Museo Dionis Bennassar, an unexpected treasure and the home of a famous local artist. His paintings are displayed around the peaceful and inspirational home. There are some lovely boutiques, modern art galleries and fabulous restaurants. Puerto Pollensa is wonderful with its dazzling white sand and shallow, warm water. The marina is amazing, the perfect people-watching spot and also the place for adventure out at sea. Golf fans marvel at the famous Alcanada Golf Club. As well as having superb greens designed by Robert Trent Jones, there are incredible views and a wonderful restaurant.
Alcudia Old Town is within easy reach of La Finquita. The medieval town of Alcudia is Mallorca’s largest tourist hub in the north. It is located on a peninsula, separating the bays of Pollensa and Alcudia. The town boasts an incredible history. The Romans brought an end to piracy and built the town, but Alcudia was then destroyed in the 6th century. The town returned to greatness under the Moors. The walls you see today were added in the early 14th century under the rule of King Jaume II. Can Torro is the library of Alcudia, a beautiful mansion dating back to the early Middle Ages. Alcudia Old Town oozes charm from its lovely sandstone architecture, prettiest in the golden-hued late afternoon sunlight. The compact Old Town is brimming with charming narrow streets, first-class gastronomic restaurants, trendy bars and gorgeous boutiques. Alcudia’s colourful market is very popular, as are the delicious tapas and sangria available throughout the Old Town. Visitors can walk around the entire perimeter of the medieval walls, either on the inside using the Cami de Ronde route or on the outside, using what has now become a gardened walk. From the top of the walls, visitors enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Bay of Pollensa. You can also visit the bullring, the Roman ruins, the museum, the amphitheatre and Sant Jaume Church. Sant Jaume Church was built in Neo-Gothic style and was finished in 1893 after the first church built in the 14th century fell into disrepair. The church was named after its founder King Jaume II. Art lovers enjoy the fantastic Sa Bassa Blanca Museum created by Yannick and Ben Jakober. Situated in an old palace overlooking the stunning bay and harbour of Alcudia and Port Alcudia from its location on the slopes of Alcanada, it is one of the most impressive exhibition halls in Mallorca. There is a lovely collection of animal sculptures in the garden. The town hosts many cultural events, including traditional fiestas and classical music festivals.
As well as stunning beaches, fantastic historic towns, and lively ports, nature reigns supreme in Mallorca. The island is popular for its dramatic mountains, its fabulous mountain roads and its excellent hiking paths. There are twelve walking routes to explore this beautiful paradise, all offering breathtaking panoramic views of the coast, mountains and marshes set against the intense blue backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea. The ancient monastery Puig de Pollensa sits on top of a mountain close to Pollensa town, offering outstanding views of Pollensa Bay, the Cap de Formentor and the majestic Tramuntana mountains. You can walk up to the Puig in approximately 40 minutes and enjoy some refreshments at the cafe at the top or make use of the picnic tables.
The Serra de Tramuntana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2011 in an attempt to protect the unique landscape, customs and heritage. The mountains skirt the length of Mallorca’s northern coast. Whether you choose to drive, hike or cycle, there are countless incredible sights to see, from the Moorish terraced hillsides dropping to the sea in Banyalbufar to the stunning clifftop viewing points such as the Mirador de Ricardo Roca and Mirador De Ses Barques, where you can see the lovely resort of Soller in the distance. The blissfully quiet village of Galilea is Mallorca’s highest village. La Torre de Verger is an ancient watchtower perched on the edge of a cliff near Banyalbufar on the west coast. It is a popular spot to watch the breathtaking sunsets. La Reserva Puig Galatzo is a fabulous nature reserve deep in the forest at the western end of the Tramuntana. You can hike the pathways and enjoy the wildlife, pools and waterfalls. The adventure park has Mallorca’s longest zip-wire as well as rock climbing and Tibetan-style suspension bridges. A trip to the mountain range would not be complete without visiting the beautiful Deia. The village is one of the prettiest in Mallorca, and it has become a bit of a playground for the rich.

THE REGION
Discover the northern Mallorca resort that inspired Agatha Christie to write a novel and has attracted holidaymakers for decades. Find out why this destination – backed by mountains – offers more than just sun, sand, and sea.
Once a simple fishing port, the town is now a very attractive, family-friendly resort with some intriguing twists to its history. Here we provide all the information you want to know to enjoy a stay in this treasured port town.
Port de Pollensa, or ‘Puerto Pollensa’ as it is sometimes spelt, is a resort particularly popular with the British – for holidays and as a second home location – and offers good facilities, beaches, and excellent opportunities for water sports.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesLa Finquita is perfect for a family holiday. The garden is fabulous, with a fabulous pool, total privacy and plenty of room for family games. Children love the barbecues cooked outside in the barbecue house.
The villa is within easy reach of some of Mallorca’s favourite beaches. As well as the magnificent Puerto Pollensa and the neighbouring Alcudia beaches, guests also enjoy Cala Agulla, Cala Sant Vicenc, Formentor, and Cala Mesquida, amongst many others. The Bay of Alcudia is Mallorca’s longest stretch of beach, offering a wonderful variety of watersports. Watersports Mallorca is based just east of the Old Town at Playa de Muro, where children can learn to kitesurf or windsurf as well as hire other equipment. It is an enchanting natural cove lying 4km off the road between Pollensa town and the port. There is a sense of seclusion you will not find at the busier tourist resorts. There are a few excellent fish restaurants too. There are plenty of watersports on offer as well as sandcastle building and swimming in the lovely azure shallow waters of Puerto Pollensa. You can take your pick of amazing boat rides, from glass-bottom boats to catamarans and speed boats.
Dolphin watching is on offer in addition to snorkelling trips and diving lessons. Puerto Pollensa’s challenging floating water park is very popular. Children are given life jackets and swim to the park or use the rope connecting it to the beach.
The Hotel Bellevue Complex at Puerto Alcudia boasts a thrilling go-karting playground called Kartingmania, which is open to all visitors. There is a special track for four to seven-year-olds, and children over seven years old can drive on the main track in customized, gasoline-powered karts.
The Hidropark Waterpark in Alcudia boasts kamikaze slides, a wave pool, and swimming and water playgrounds. There are gentle slides for very young children. There are also inflatable castles, trampolines, giant floating balls and a golf course. It is set in lush landscaped gardens and is a great day out.
Children also love visiting some of Mallorca’s interesting caves. Coves d’Arta’s guided tour takes you through various chambers to the ‘Queen of Pillars’, a huge stalagmite twenty-two metres tall. Coves de Drach, which means Caves of the Dragon, is the most famous of the caves. It has four caves where musicians play classical music from the boats on the underground lake. In the direction of Palma, you will discover the traditional village of Campanet. The Ses Coves de Campanet are a lovely sight.
For some thrilling fun, you can head to La Reserva Galatzo, deep in the Tramuntana mountains, near Puigpunyent. As well as having stunning scenery and much wildlife the adventure park offers rock climbing, swinging bridges, a zip wire and canyons which you can slide down. There are well-marked paths, and the barbecue area is a great place to finish.
Further away, the tree top adventure park at Santa Ponsa is set in nine hectares of pine forest. There are one hundred and twenty-three platforms built into the trees with three different circuits with bridges, swings, ladders and zip lines for varying abilities. The Pirate circuit is for young children over four years old, and the Explorer and Extreme circuits are more challengings for older children and adults.

Peaceful Hidden Gem
The location was quiet and peaceful. The villa was clean and the pool was very much needed in the heat. Lots of hot water and I would recommend if you want to be out of the way.
-
Beautifully Peaceful Villa
This Villa is a little gem, it feels like you're really remote but actually you're not far from everything. The pool is beautiful and the whole Villa and grounds are very well maintained. We spent 2 fabulous weeks there and had a hire car, which I think is a must. It's the perfect place to laze around in the pool during the day and go and have dinner in Puerto Pollensa in the evening, Lovely. I highly recommend it.

The Villa is in an excellent location, remote enough to be quiet and private yet a short drive to the beach and all the cafes and restaurants. Its also possible to walk to Puerto Pollensa in around 40 mins as we did several times . The villa is very well looked after and the grounds and pool are excellent. Its well equipped and plenty of space. We had a great Holiday.
