Villa Rio Alt is located in the charming region of Pollensa, a town that is teeming with an abundance of intriguing attractions. The Joan March Gardens are just under 10-minutes and highlight the region’s sources of rural beauty. These gardens were created to celebrate the March family, who set up a selection of business ventures in order to boost Pollensa’s economic prosperity. Alongside their far-reaching history, these gardens are also home to a range of looming and awe-inspiring olive trees as well as a variety of ecosystems. In addition, the Joan March Gardens are open 24 hours a day, meaning that tourists can visit this attraction multiple times throughout their stay.

Pollensa is also well renowned for its energetic and diverse food scene, with a range of fine dining restaurants scattered around the region. Q11 Restaurant is a modern establishment that focuses on seasonal gastronomy, a concept that revolves around using only the freshest ingredients in your cooking. Thus, this restaurant serves incredible dishes such as vegetable Pad Thai as well as pamboli served with Iberian ham. They also have an extensive wine list that includes products from the local wineries found within Mallorca. Q11 Restaurant is just a short walk away from the town centre and is open every day from 12 pm till 10:30 pm.

Formentor Lighthouse is just under an hour away from Pollensa and offers a unique insight into the region’s nautical history. This monument stands 210 metres above sea level and provides a plethora of panoramic views as guests drive up to the peak. Many of the locals say that it only takes 15-minutes to drive to the top, making it very easy to access if you are travelling by car. The lighthouse was originally built in 1863 and was used to keep sailors away from the jagged rocks at the base of the shores. In the present, it is still used to protect local fishermen, making it a very sentimental and iconic landmark throughout Pollensa. Formentor Lighthouse also influenced some of Europe’s most prolific writers, such as Jose Hierro and Carlos Fuentes, further exemplifying its beautiful nature.

Pollensa also offers a wide variety of attractions aimed at children, making this a very family-friendly region to visit. If you are looking to pick up a few souvenirs to remind you of your trip, the Pollensa Market is a perfect place to visit. This market boasts over 300 stalls, selling an assortment of bags, clothes, and handmade craft items. There is even a section dedicated to fresh produce, allowing children to taste a variety of ingredients at their most authentic source. Children can experience new cultures and customs within the confines of this incredibly vibrant market. The Pollensa Market is located in the main square, which is just a short walk away from the centre. It occurs every Sunday from 8 am till 1:30 pm.

Puig de Maria is one of Pollensa’s most significant landmarks, highlighting the region’s far-reaching religious history. At the top of the 330-metre summit sits a quaint 14th-century monastery that was first built as a shrine to the Virgin Mary. This monument also experienced profound changes during the 19th century in order to fit in with style seen in the Gothic revival. Nowadays, guests can enter the monastery and observe the plethora of well-preserved artefacts that help to educate tourists on Pollensa’s links to Catholicism. Puig de Maria is just over 5-minutes away and only takes 30-minutes to climb, making it a very simple hike for the vast majority of guests.

For children who love to explore their surroundings, the Aliznaret Caves give children the chance to truly revel in their environment. These caves date back to 1600BC, showcasing an abundance of pieces from the Middle Bronze Age throughout the structures. Despite their origins, these caves were first recorded in 1927 by acclaimed British archaeologist Wilfred Hemp. This attraction has a cave titled Number 7 of Hemp that acts as a sacred place to celebrate his life and work. Alzinaret Caves are just over 10-minutes away from the centre of Pollensa, and there is also a selection of benches outside for guests who do not feel comfortable entering the caves.
