The interior of this property embodies a truly contemporary theme, using subtle splashes of colour to produce a deeply off-beat and inviting holiday home. The living room hosts a considerable L-shaped seating arrangement that has been expertly decorated with an array of vibrant lime green scatter cushions. As such, guests can use this space to kick back and relax whilst they catch up on their favourite shows using the flatscreen TV at the back of the room. The dining area adheres to a very similar theme, making good use of a chic wooden table and an accompanying set of pastel green chairs. Don't be fooled by its humble façade - Casa Hill doesn`t look an inch out of place between its neighbours, but open the front door and you will be amazed by just how bright and spacious this designer abode is!

Can Ilau is based just 5 minutes away from the centre of Pollensa, a location that is viewed as an engaging hub of culture and vitality. If you are an avid lover of European history, you must take a trip to Placa de l’Amoina, which is situated just under 5 minutes away from the villa. This landmark is based in a small square which includes a grandiose house. This building was once run by determined university students who used their personal funds to help care for some of the region’s poorest citizens. Alongside its charitable efforts, this area is also known as a ferocious battleground, particularly during the harrowing events of the 30th of May 1550. During this time, a collection of aggressive ambushers attacked the town, leaving the local citizens to fend for themselves.
Puig de Maria is one of the most significant religious monuments in the entire region and boasts an incredibly far-reaching history. At the very top of a looming 330-metre peak, guests can marvel at an archaic 14th-century monastery that was once used as a devoted shrine to the Virgin Mary. Despite its influence throughout the area, it was forced to close its doors in 1564 and did not reopen until 1638. Nowadays, it welcomes guests to explore its vast range of artefacts and encourages them to deepen their knowledge of this detailed and rich region. Puig de Maria can be found just a few minutes away from the villa and only takes around half an hour to climb, making it a very accessible hike for most tourists.
The Pollensa Museum is another iconic monument that is located just under 5 minutes away from Can Ilau. Many modern-day guests will recognise this landmark for its collection of prolific pieces, such as the works of Attilio Boveri. However, it was once seen as a simple storage unit for an array of Gothic altarpieces. Though they may not seem overly pivotal, these pieces managed to gain a wide variety of attention, even receiving praise at the prestigious Summer Exhibition of Painting back in the 1960s. When the museum first opened its doors to the public in 1975, it quickly became a huge success and continues to attract a plethora of guests from around the world. An added bonus of this attraction is that it is free to enter, which is ideal for those travelling on a budget.

Pollensa Market is situated just over 5 minutes away from Can Ilau and welcomes guests every Sunday from 8 am to 1:30 pm.
La Fira is a truly unique festival that celebrates Pollensa’s archaic and legacy-defining trade industry. This fair first began in 1784 and has continued to be a significant part of the region’s popular culture. Throughout this timeless event, guests have the prime opportunity to purchase a collection of 18th-century items such as woven bags and traditional clothing garments. Thus, this is a fantastic way to explore the region’s history from an entirely new perspective. La Fira often occurs on the second Sunday of November and finishes on the following Tuesday.
If you are looking to detach from the stressors of everyday life, the Joan March Gardens is a perfect place to visit. These immense gardens were first built in the late 1980s as a celebration of this local icon. The March family is best known for their transformative economic practices that eventually allowed that sleepy town to see a grand influx of growth and prosperity. Alongside its tremendous history, these gardens are home to a splendid collection of cypress trees, which are often seen on the town’s traditional coat of arms; the Joan March Gardens can be found just a stone’s throw away from the villa.

    Sorry to be leaving Can Ilau after a wonderful nine days, just what we needed for rest and recuperation. The house was well equipped, everything was perfect. Enjoyed several fantastic meals at No Onze and of course coffee at the local cafe (bottom of the hill, top square) where the staff are so very welcoming. We hope to return to stay in your lovely house.
