This rather wonderful sixteenth century manor house has been lovingly and beautifully restored into an eight bedroom holiday villa with stunning gardens and a private pool. Located off the beaten track near the unspoilt coastal town of Son Serra de Marina, it is just 4km to the white sand dunes so typical of this coastline.  Villa Margalida is a perfect choice for a large family holiday, a special event or a group of friends wanting to explore this interesting and beautiful part of northern Mallorca.

There is no doubt that the villa is full of character and history with décor and furnishings showing great respect to island traditions as well as neo-romantic Italian taste.  On the ground floor you will find a beautifully tiled old-fashioned kitchen with every modern amenity you will need, plus a choice of dining areas both inside and out, ideal for any time of year. There is a family chapel, which could be perfect for weddings, plus one of the eight ensuite bedrooms is on the ground floor.

On the first floor you will find the magnificent library and music room as well as further seven bedrooms, all ensuite and some with living areas and terraces. The library has large picture book windows with extensive views over the bay and Cape Formentor, allowing plenty of natural light, plus hardwood floors and a central fireplace, giving it a cosy and warm feel, ideal for reading, relaxing or listening to music.

Wander across the many terraces, through the beautifully maintained gardens and down to the exquisite swimming pool with stunning countryside views all around you.  There are seven gardens in total, lovingly looked after by maintenance staff, in each one you will find a perfect spot for solitude and peace surrounded by Mediterranean colours and scents. 

You can rest assured you will be well looked after here with many services offered to guests.  The owners can arrange for a chef to cook for you for all or part of your stay, babysitting can be arranged in advance and a laundry service or dry cleaning can be provided on your request, all at an extra cost. The villa is also an ideal location for pre-planned special events or weddings, please enquire further for details of prices and what can be offered.

Nearby Son Serra de Marina, about 4km away, is a quiet coastal town, off the beaten track and therefore not subject to the mass tourism of other parts of the island.  You will find a small handful of places to eat and drink, a 400m long sandy beach and other stretches of coast within a short drive. White beaches, sand dunes and turquoise seas perfect for surfing are backed by pine forests in the surrounding area.

The beauty of the area attracts nature lovers who can enjoy walking or biking through the stunning countryside, looking out for rare species of animals or bird watching at the well-known S’Albufera wildlife sanctuary. The Son Real nature reserve is the perfect place to ride horses, take a guided tour, hike or simply relax in the very natural and wild surroundings. The province is also well known for its large number of ancient sites, more than any other place on the island.

The province is also well known for its large number of ancient sites, more than any other place on the island. A prehistoric necropolis and other archaeological remains can be found at Illot des Porros, a fantastic day trip for history lovers.

The nearby villages of Arta, Petra, Capdepera and Son Severa will give you a glimpse of the true beauty of rural and historic Mallorca. Alternatively, head to the more touristy spots and beaches of Colonia de San Pere, Can Picafort and Port d’Alcudia, all within a short distance from the villa.

THE REGION

The traditional town of Artá sits in the middle of a large valley at the foot of a small mountain in the northeast of Mallorca. The town rigorously clings to its heritage, making few concessions for tourism. The parish church, Transfiguracio del Senyor, dominates the largely pedestrianised centre and skyline of Artá.

Artá’s biggest attractions relate to the cultural heritage of the area. The most popular is undoubtedly the Sanctuary de Sant Salvador and the fortified battlements that surround it.

There are beaches within a short hike of town, and many who brave the walk say it’s just as beautiful as the beach itself. You are also within easy reach of the many attractions the northeast of the island has to offer, such as the Coves del Drac.

These terms and conditions may be amended from time to time.

Security deposit €2000 charged to client’s credit card by the owner upon arrival and refunded two weeks after departure, subject to full inspection €4000 Events Fee - (payable by transfer with final balance)

Linen & towels included? Yes, included in the rental price. Linen change at end of each week for stays of two weeks

End of stay cleaning included? Yes. However, guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or rubbish disposal required will be charged against the security deposit. There is also a maid service six hours a day, six times a week
