The villa’s interior is truly breathtaking, with bright, spacious rooms that feature a light and fresh decor in neutral tones of refreshing white and cream, accented by luxurious pops of colour in the sumptuous soft furnishings and glorious artworks. Everything at Villa Vedranell screams high-end, with two gorgeous living rooms decked out in top-quality furniture and satellite TVs, and a stylish dining room - all showcasing incredible ocean views and offering guests the ideal spaces for cosying up and relaxing, conversing, dining, and enjoying each other’s company in style.  

Villa Vedranell has a large and well-appointed kitchen, bursting with top-of-the-range appliances, plenty of food-preparation space and lots of cookware, crockery and utensils - it’s the perfect space for larger families or friendship groups to prepare meals together without getting under each other’s feet, and is a pleasure to cook in!

The villa also features six magnificent double bedrooms - four featuring a double bed and two rooms that have two single beds - ideal for those who are travelling with children. All the rooms are decorated in the same light and fresh colour palette, with comfortable beds and beautifully crafted functional furniture. Five of the bedrooms offer magnificent ocean views and all six benefit from modern ensuite bathrooms with bathtubs for a relaxing and luxurious stay all around.

The flow from indoor to outdoor living is seamless at Villa Vedranell, with huge glass sliding doors leading out into the grounds, where you’ll find two elegant alfresco lounge spaces. These areas are fully furnished for your comfort and are the perfect spaces for reading, enjoying a morning cuppa or pre-dinner drink, or simply chilling out with family or friends. There are several areas here at the villa that lend themselves perfectly to outdoor dining, with solidly crafted dining tables and chairs, and there are plenty of loungers and seating areas for sitting and making the most of those spectacular ocean views. Es Cubells is a small yet perfectly formed little village made up of traditional fincas, rural farmland, and olive and orange groves. Life slows to a crawl here, making it a popular destination for those who truly want to get away from it all and enjoy an idyllic, relaxed holiday vibe. The area is one of the most sought-after areas for luxury villa rentals, and the rocky cliffside is home to many contemporary and stylish private properties, offering the region a wonderful air of laid-back chic.

The village features a small and beautiful whitewashed church, small children’s playground and two charming restaurants. Bar Llumbi Restaurante is most famous for its ‘Mama’s pork chops’ dish and delicious tapas, all served up overlooking the ocean…or there’s nearby Restaurante Es Cubells, which features hearty dishes such as paella, salt-baked fish and grilled meats.

If you decide to head down towards the beach (and why wouldn’t you?!) you’ll discover one of the island’s best-kept secrets: Ses Boques, which offers authentic beach dining with grilled meats and fresh seafood prepared using 40-year old recipes and using only ingredients from the sea and soil of Ibiza.

There are three coves in the area that make for excellent spots for diving and snorkelling, and with nothing but the azure Mediterranean sea and acres of the sky as your backdrop, if you’re looking for a destination that is totally Instagrammable - you’ve found it at Es Cubells.

This tiny, quiet village is located just outside of San Jose - a place that is well worth a visit during your stay - especially if you are something of a foodie - as it boasts some excellent restaurants, shops and bars, including pizza parlours, cocktail bars and high-end gourmet restaurants. Souvenir hunters won’t be disappointed either; the village has plenty of shops and boutiques selling traditional ceramics, colourful Ibizan fashions, and even toys, and from Easter to October, the market held in the centre of the village aims to promote the island’s local products and traditions. There are stalls offering organic produce such as homemade bread and pastries, fruits and vegetables, and local artists come here to sell their paintings, sculptures and handicrafts.

THE REGION

Although set just outside the buzz of the village of San José, Es Cubells is distant enough to create a wonderful feeling of seclusion. As you drive past traditional fincas and rural farmland plus olive and orange groves, the pressure of everyday life seems to just slip away.

The exclusive, ultra-private properties peppered along the rocky cliffside are contemporary and luxurious in style yet possess an air of laid-back chic, setting the scene for the ultimate Mediterranean getaway.

Typical Spanish cuisine can be found in the two restaurants in the little village – take your pick between Bar Llumbi Restaurante – famous for mama’s pork chops and tasty tapas dishes – overlooking the sea, or tuck into hearty plates like grilled meats, whole fish baked in salt, paella or typical Ibicenco dishes including bullit de peix or guisat de peix on the sunny terrace of Bar Restaurante Es Cubells just opposite the church.

Villa Vedranell is ideally suited for larger family groups with kids, thanks to its mix of double and twin beds and spacious interior and outdoor spaces. Two separate lounge areas make it easy for bigger groups to spread out and enjoy the private time when needed, and there are lots of shaded areas outside for the little ones to eat and relax out of the sun.

The children are sure to enjoy the villa’s private pool, which is large enough for their inflatables and pool toys. The pool is accessed by a ladder, so it could prove challenging for very young kids - and there’s no safety barrier or fence - but well-supervised children are going to have a blast splashing about in the cooling water!

From the villa, you and the kids can walk straight to a private cove of Es Cubells beach, an area of pebbled shoreline, golden sands, pine scents and crystal clear waters. Here the kids can enjoy paddling and building sandcastles or perhaps indulging in a spot of snorkelling. There are a number of small, well-maintained playgrounds in the area, including in the centre of Es Cubells village, where you’ll also find a couple of fantastic restaurants serving up authentic Mediterranean meals to suit all tastes.

Nearby San Jose (Sant Josep de sa Talaia) is a slightly larger village to visit with the kids and is equally laid-back and beautiful. You’ll find hiking routes here that are suitable for all ages, perfect for enjoying the spectacular scenery this part of the island has to offer. For an unforgettable family experience, Oliver recommends taking a boat trip, where the kids will delight in spotting native birds and dolphins as you explore the shoreline and visit the various beaches in the region, Cala Bassa and Platges de Comte. These family-friendly beaches feature amenities such as toilets, showers, bars and restaurants, as well as dive centres teaching basic techniques to all age groups.
