About the surrounding area of Villa Flamingo EstrellaMarbella has been a hit tourist destination for many travellers due to its striking array of attractions. If you are looking to uncover more about the far-reaching religious history of this region, Iglesias de Encarnacion is a must-see landmark. Translated as Churches of Encarnacion, this monument has been standing since the mid-18th century. Originally, this landmark was a Mosque that served the former Moorish population of Marbella. However, throughout the events of the Christian reconquest, the building was adapted to serve Christians. Inside, this church is decorated with an immaculate Baroque style, amplifying its elegant decors and well-preserved artefacts. This gorgeous church is located in Marbella's Old Town, so be sure to take a stroll around the quaint streets while you're there and enjoy a meal in the stunning Plaza de Los Naranjos. All of these sights can be found just a thirty-minute drive from the Villa Flamingo Estrella.
The Museum of Spanish Contemporary Engraving is a hidden gem and is based just a stone's throw away from the centre of Marbella. As the only museum devoted to engraving in the entirety of Spain, this is a deeply iconic establishment amongst the local population. Guests have the chance to observe 4,000 engravings, etchings, and lithographs, offering them a comprehensive look into this ancient and long-forgotten art. This museum also hosts works from Goya, Picasso, Miro, and Dali, which provide a more contemporary approach to this archaic practice. This museum is based in the old Bazan Hospital building and hosts the vibrant National Engraving Awards every year.
This region is also well recognised for its impeccable golfing facilities, such as the incredible Los Naranjos Golf, which is situated just over 20-minutes away. Since its foundation in 1977, this course has hosted a plethora of acclaimed tournaments, such as the Spanish Open. The course was originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., giving guests a small glimpse into the true beauty of this establishment. Alameda Park is an incredible landmark that is a fantastic place to visit if you are looking to detach from the hustle and bustle of normal life. This park is characterised by an abundance of tropical foliage that provides essential shade from the blazing sun. Guests can also marvel at a series of tremendous fountains that help to amplify the picturesque nature of this park. The most attractive aspect of this park is the unique benches that have been decorated with azulejos, which are traditional handprinted tiles that depict key moments in the region's history. Nearby to the park is Marbella's Old Town, filled with narrow streets and shops, or Playa de Venus, a small beach with restaurants and watersports on offer.
Just close to the villa and absolutely perfect for kids is Selwo Aventura. Roughly a 15-minute drive away, this incredible animal park is a must-see when in the area with its amazing animals and fun activities! It includes lions, zebras, elephants, lemurs, birds, and more! Not only will kids be in awe of these stunning creatures, but they will love learning about them as well, as the animal park also puts on various talks and activities that come included in your entry into the park. Make sure to check out one of the shows where you can learn more about the various animals that live there, go for a ride on the ziplines, and stroll across the various bridges over the enclosures. Presentations are in Spanish and English, and make sure to book your tickets in advance through the Selwo Aventura website! Children under 11 can benefit from a reduced price, and there is also a ticket for large families.
If you are travelling as a family of avid foodies, a trip to Skina is a real treat. This fine-dining establishment is best known for its Andalusian-style menu options and has been on an award-winning streak since 2008. Guests are encouraged to delve into a wide variety of different dishes, such as a refreshing bowl of gazpacho served with fresh cucumber as well as sardines skewered with fresh bamboo. In addition, a few of the dishes are prepared and cooked on an extensive wood fire that is located on the nearby beach. As such, guests can enjoy a selection of incredible dishes as well as a plethora of amazing views. Skina is based just under 5 minutes away from the centre of Marbella and welcomes guests Tuesday-Saturday from 1pm till 12am.
