A tranquil haven ideal for a summer getaway, Casa Canulo is located in a fabulous area of Mijas, boasting a stunning turquoise pool and chic interiors. This villa has been lovingly renovated with superb attention to detail, without compromising any of the original features, such as the stonework walls. One of the most unique features of this property is the wraparound outside terrace at the back.
Here, guests can enjoy the views of the soaring Mijas mountains and swaying palm trees from the pool. The elevated saltwater pool is in a plunge design, surrounded by lots of decking space and tropical plants. It is separated by golden ropes from one of the alfresco dining areas. Take a refreshing dip and bask in the sunshine. There is also an outdoor lounge with stylish bamboo furniture with white cushions - perfect to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset.
The simple yet stylish aesthetic runs through the whole villa, from the open plan living space to the five bedrooms. Step through into the grand hallway, illuminated with natural light thanks to the floor to ceiling windows. The living space has a pair of swish black leather sofas, armchairs and an eye-catching black and gold marble coffee table. Here, guests can relax and play games together.
The well-equipped yet compact kitchen has everything guests will need to create delicious family feasts. A granite dining table matches the beautiful coffee table and seats ten guests. State-of-the-art appliances have been used throughout at this villa, to ensuite a quality experience. A side door leads straight out to the patio.
Bedrooms are decorated in a neutral colour palette, with dreamy marble tiled floors, plenty of wardrobe space and plush beds with caramel cushions. Four out of five bedrooms are on the upper floor and the minimal style creates a hotel-room design. The master bedroom has its own private terrace with superb views of the pool and lush garden. This room also has the benefit of its own ensuite bathroom. Shared bathrooms are chic in style and decked out in natural taupe stone with large mirrors.

- There are lots of stone steps at this villa, so those with little ones or mobility requirements should take note.
- Only the master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom at this villa - all others are shared.
- Children should take care near the edge of the upper terrace, which leads straight down to the pool.

About the surrounding area of Casa CasuloThis villa is in a tranquil area called Cerrados del Aguila, in the Mijas area of the Costa del Sol. It is close to several golf courses and beaches, and only a 20 minute drive to Fuengirola's dining and nightlife scene.
The Cerrados del Aguila golf resort is part of the Golf Valley of Mijas and offers beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea from most of its courses. Small yet perfectly formed, this golf course excels in 9-hole courses. There is also a restaurant on site. Alternatively, try out Mijas Golf, which was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and boasts two courses - Los Lagos and Los Olivos. These 18- hole masterpieces have superb views of the surrounding countryside.
Fuengirola beach has 7km of powdery golden coastline, with separate areas for watersports and bathing. The beach is very family-friendly and extends from Sohail castle to Torreblanco. There are plenty of charming chiringuitos, which loosely translates to cafes on the sand. At Fuengirola beach you can go wakeboarding, water-skiing and tubing or parasailing. Dine at one of the dozen renowned eateries and enjoy the buzzing nightlife. Additionally, Fuengirola has many stylish boutiques in the Corta Ingles that fashionistas will love.
There is a peaceful boardwalk in the coastal area of La Cala, which passes by a 16th-century watchtower. On Wednesdays and Saturday mornings there is a bustling street market where you can join the locals and hunt out some treasures to take home. In the summer, there are lots of open-air concerts held in this area. Local delicacies from Mijas to look out for include Maimona, a special type of bread with garlic and oil - and definitely try the area's fresh seafood.
Culture vultures will love the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, an art museum that houses the second-largest collection of Picasso ceramics, alongside Dalí's bronze figurines. The museum also has a rotation of great temporary exhibitions.

Best Suited For: All AgesThere's so much to offer families around the Costa del Sol, especially in Mijas. Whether your kids love adventure or relaxing days on the beach, a holiday here is a popular choice with children of all ages.
A day at the beach is what many children dream of - Fontanilla beach is perfect for kids, who can enjoy playing games on the powdery sand and swimming in the sparkling sea. Kids can also stroll along the boardwalk and enjoy the beautiful views. Another fantastic kid-friendly beach in Mijas is Butiplaya. With dark golden sand, there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere here. Boats can be rented here, though it should be noted that the water has moderate waves.
Bioparc Fuengirola is a great ethical zoo that kids will adore. 200 animal species live here within large enclosures and are cared for by experts. The animals here include Sumatran tigers, Pygmy hippos, gorillas and orangutangs and they come from Southeast Asia, Madagascar, Equatorial Africa and the Indo-Pacific. There's a simulated tropical forest and a focus on natural habitats for the animals.
A day trip to nearby Marbella has a surprising amount of great activities for children. The Kids Spa has activities and treatments based around wellness, beauty and craft. Children can take part in t-shirt making classes, try out modelling and even get manicures. At The Food Room, there are cookery classes for kids from six upwards. Meanwhile, parents can choose an adults' class, so the whole family can get involved. Around Marbella, kids can explore the winding streets of the Old Town and visit the Orange Square.
Parque Acuatigo is the ultimate water park that kids will have an amazing time at - and it's a surprisingly relaxing place for parents who are supervising them. With a thrilling kamikaze ride, a wave pool and five water slides of various speeds and depths, it's bound to a big hit with kids. Adults can relax in the tropical sunshade area. There's also mini golf for kids and plenty of live entertainment to keep the whole family happy.
