A masterpiece of traditional architecture and rustic charm, Villa Selena is a unique, homely villa in the peace and quiet of the Gavarres Massif, near the town of Cruïlles in the Baix Empordà.
The exterior is a welcoming fusion of farmhouse and modern delight, and the interiors are equally cosy and inviting. The main living space is a large, beautiful and characterful space, with interior stone walls and natural textures and materials throughout. There is a comfy sofa corner in front of the magnificent fireplace, modern TV and a large, formal dining area on the other side of the room.
The large, traditionally-styled kitchen extends to one side in a wonderfully sociable open-plan design and features everything you could need for rustling up a treat! The fusion of traditional beauty and modern utility sees the inclusion of Wi-Fi throughout the entire villa. The farm is completely self-sufficient for energy, using solar power, water from the 5-centuries-old wells and wood from the forest for heating – but don’t worry, there’s a backup generator to guarantee energy throughout your stay!
There are four bedrooms in total, with two on each floor. Both ground-floor bedrooms enjoy direct access to the garden, as well as fabulous private bathroom facilities, including showers integrated with the living areas for a fabulous open atmosphere. One of these rooms has a single bed and can be used instead as a massage room if you would prefer. The second has a fabulous king-size bed. There is a second double room upstairs (the jaw-dropping main bedroom) and a gorgeous twin room, both being connected by a door. On the first floor, you can enjoy a huge private terrace directly from each room, which includes a casual seating area and parasol for soaking up the warmth and sunshine in privacy!
The main suite features a Nespresso machine and kettle, giving you the opportunity to prepare your morning coffee and enjoy it on your private balcony overlooking the sublime landscape! Double sofa beds in each of these rooms are ideal for integrating more guests into your holiday. These two vastly spacious and beautiful first-floor rooms are connected directly. The accompanying ensuite bathrooms are elegant and beautiful, and in one, the basins are made from ancient stone!
Your fabulous garden surrounds the entire house, with endless seating areas, dining options and, of course, space! There’s all the room you could dream of for fun and games for all ages, topped off with the incredible swimming pool, available year-round for all your bathing desires! Tucked away in the fabulous mountains of Catalonia, very near to some of the best beaches of the Costa Brava, this is the perfect location for any group to enjoy the sunshine, tranquillity and natural beauty of the region.
What you should know…
- Those travelling in groups of maximum capacity will need to make use of two double sofa beds in two of the bedrooms
- The kind, generous villa owners live on-site in an entirely separate cottage and also share the use of the pool
- There’s no air-conditioning in Villa Selena, but a dip in the pool is an ideal way to cool off in the sunshine!
- The swimming pool is not fenced, so children must be supervised at all times

Villa Selena is the ideal environment to feel at one with yourself, disconnected from your everyday activities, while still having the comforts that facilitate daily life. There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms, accommodating up to 11 people in this gorgeous, reformed cottage.

About the surrounding area of Villa SelenaTucked away in the fabulous mountains of Catalonia, near some of the best beaches of the Costa Brava, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches, golfing, water sports, and soaking up a little of the Spanish culture and history – and did we mention the food?!
Nestled in a quiet residential location among a myriad of typical Mediterranean villages, including Cruïlles and Santa Pellaia, you’re just 18 km from miles of beautiful beaches along the coastline of Sant Antoni de Calonge and a stone’s throw from fabulous cycling, hiking, and golf.
Despite its idyllic location near the unspoilt coast, Villa Selena is fabulously well-connected to the rest of the country! The incredible city of Girona, under an hour away, is home to an astonishing Cathedral which took almost seven centuries to build, with elements of Romanesque and Gothic architecture throughout! Meanwhile, Barcelona is less than two hours away, and with so many museums, galleries, sublime historical and architecturally beautiful buildings, and of course the breathtaking Park Güell, it makes for a perfect day out! The Costa Brava, and indeed Catalonia as a whole, is also famous for its wonderful beaches, fabulous gastronomy and calm, steady pace of life.
For the adventurous types, this villa is perfectly located, surrounded by many miles of coastal paths perfect for strolling on a beautiful day. Golfers will be delighted by the facilities in the area, as of course will those who enjoy life on the water, with plenty of sailing, fishing and endless water sports available nearby. This coastline is renowned as a fantastic diving spot due to the crystal-clear waters and fascinating geological features.

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Selena is a fabulous house for those travelling with children. With an enormous garden and adorable farm animals on-site, there are endless opportunities for fun and activity in and around the home! The garden is bright and varied with a huge pool in which they can splash and play to their heart’s content, with sun-loungers available for you to keep a close eye on the little ones.
The spacious living rooms are perfect for the evening – settle in for a calm movie night with all the group after an active day exploring the sublime coastline. Even better, gaze at the night sky from the many outdoor terraces!
The local area is also very well suited to families, with the thriving cities of Barcelona and Girona nearby, as well as plenty of water sports opportunities including kayaking, dolphin watching, kite-surfing, parasailing, snorkelling, windsurfing, and loads more on your doorstep! Begur Castle will enchant children. Built in the 11th Century it was sold to the town in 1607, allowing families to visit it in the present-day. The castle has had restoration work and additional construction to preserve the incredible historic site as well as offer access for wheelchairs and those with mobility issues.
Before you head out to the beach, or if you're looking for an alternative to the beach yet still want some water, stop off at Aquadiver, in Platja d'Aro. Here families can have a wet and wild time, zooming, twisting and rushing down slides and amusements in this awesome water-park. Suitable for all ages, kids and adults will love the wave pools, rapid rivers and kamikaze rides and you don't have to worry about services as the park offers restaurants and bars, lockers, lounge, picnic and club areas as well as offering free bus transport!
