A unique combination of mountains, beaches and city united by a love of good food and wonderful wine.
"I don't believe that you can find another location in Spain that offers so much within easy reach that hasn't been overrun by tourists and still feels like Spain - where both the modern and classic Spain are combined, and great food and wine takes centre place in all that people do."
Valencia is a very popular destination for those seeking a typically Spanish holiday and also want to combine a lively city, great beaches, endless swimming pools, alfresco eating with BBQs and fantastic local food.
The area of Los Monasterios, is an exclusive villa area where the international jet set, business leaders, local pop stars and Valencia football club players live.
Situated below iconic mountains, it is only a 22-minute drive up the coast from Valencia airport and offers an eclectic and wide ranging selection of activities for all the family.
Days out can be spent in the stunningly picturesque Sierra Calderona, and for beach lovers, the nearby sandy blue flag beach at Pucol with its top restaurants and beach bar chiringuitos is less than a 15-minute drive away.
A further 10 beaches are all within easy reach of a 25 minute ride. You can choose from the super Ibiza cool of Valencia's Marina Real Juan Carlos and Malvarrosa beach or you can head up the coast to the wild dunes of Canet d'en Berenguer.
City beach, town beach, wild beach, pulsating beach, nude beach - it's all within reach!
For swimming pool options you have the choice of your own large (and fenced) salt water swimming pool set in the extensive grounds of Villa El Cid - with a paid option to heat the pool during the spring / autumn season. During the summer months from mid June to early October, you can enjoy the 5 expansive pools of the exclusive country club (5 min walk).
As for food and drink, well you could not be better placed, as the selection of excellent tapas bars and typical Spanish restaurants is simply endless.
Start at our neighbourhood country club restaurant/bar; sample the simple but fresh cuisine of the nearby village and the top beach view restaurants of Playa Pucol, or head to Valencia or Sagunto for top quality and Michelin start cuisine. And, of course, don't forget to sample the rich and delicious local wines from the nearby Requena y Utiel and Carinena wine regions.

Which villages are good to visit nearby?
Visit El Puig for the famous Monastery (10 mins), Sagunto for its Roman amphitheater and castle (12 mins) plus the Michelin star restaurant at the top of the old town.
Visit Gilet, Naquera or tiny Segart if you want to experience Spanish mountain villages (15 and 20 mins) or Canet de Berenguer if you want pure, white sand beaches (20 mins).
Port Saplaya (15 mins) is a lovely golden sand beach and perfect if you want family buzz and pizza/Italian/ international cuisine.
Another fun beach for young families is Playa Pobla Farnals and the Pizza Napoli
restaurant. It's a great place for young kids, but you'll be glad to leave
the noise and heat of the beach to come back to the peace of Villa El Cid.
If you have cool teenagers or just fancy a bit of Ibiza type living yourself, then head to Valencia's America's Cup port - now renamed Marina Real Juan Carlos and just alongside, the great parade of paella restaurants of Malvarrosa beach.
Taxis are cheap and easy too. Our house keeper can help arrange one if you would like.
Within walking distance?
The country club house (5 mins walk) has a bar, terrace and restaurant, where you can choose to eat casually or formally.
Also, there is an enormous playground in the club too which will keep the kids entertain before, during and after a long slow meal in the restaurant or on the terrace.
As you step out the door you are one minute away of country walks and a few more minutes from mountain trails hiking up to the Monte Piccayo and the start of the famous GR10 trail.
In the nearby mountains you can find escarpments and rock climbing, running trails and plenty of mountain bike routes.
When is the best time to eat out?
Valencia is made to eat out. Food is how we socialise and talk to each other.
The best time to go is at lunchtime - because the food is amazing and very cheap - typically 10 Euros for a three course 'menu del dia' and drinks and coffee.
To sample real, modern Spain, we go to Pucol, our favourite is L'Atelier - if you search 'restaurants Puzol (also spelt Puçol) on Google maps, you will the best reviewed and favourite bars and restaurants - all very family friendly.
You can also 'cenar' (the Spanish word for eating dinner) on Puzol beach at Marine Blau or Galli with a view of the sea. Both restaurants are a favourite for a good stake or seafood, or, if you prefer there is a less formal pizza restaurant just behind Marine Blau. El Galli is an excellent place for a stylish dinner.
Any other times to eat?
Another time to eat in Valencia is 'almuerzo' which is a kind of brunch eaten between 10am and 11.30am. Often this will be enough to fill you up for the day and will be a true, loud, Spanish experience. Head to any town nearby and find the noisiest and busiest bar - that's where you'll get the best and freshest food.
What about the food in Puzol (Pucol)?
In fact, Puzol is now being recognised for some of the best food in Spain as so many fresh ingredients come directly from Valencia's vegetable and fruit growing area, the famous La Huerta, which surrounds Puzol and the land heading south to Valencia.
In Puzol itself, if you want a top meal, then head to El Rincón del Faro or Meson El Quijote. Pre-booking is advisable. There are also loads of smaller bars.
I've heard Valencia is famous for paella?
Oh yes it is, but this is the authentic version cooked with butter beans, green beans, chicken and rabbit. If you are lucky (ahem) you may get half the rabbit head or an extra portion of delicious snails.
If you are seeking a true family paella experience, then head to Valencia's La Malvarrosa Beach at the weekend, or head south of Valencia to the village of El Palmar in the Albufera rice region - thought of locally as the home of paella and the place where arabic rice was first grown in Spain.
Alternatively, in the winter months, head to the mountains for an authentic paella cooked over orange and olive tree wood on an open fire at the San Antonio restaurant situated on a mountain bend, beside a stream just north of the picturesque village of Serra.
And street markets?
Puzol has a wonderful street market on Tuesday mornings - starting just near Consum from 9am to 1pm-ish. All food is local and fresh, so oranges from January onward, tangerines in the late autumn. melons in the summer, cherries in the early summer and so on and so forth!
In the summer, Playa Puzol has a Thursday evening market, from 7pm onwards, where you can get fresh watermelon that came straight from the fields behind you.
Playa Sagunto also has a large market on Saturday mornings (ask for the Mercardo Central) until 1pm. Cheap fashions, fabulous food, shouting, cheering and great coffee!
What happens at Christmas time?
At Christmas there is a tradition of visiting the huge and extensive cribs that local villages build during the year. A famous nearby village with a beautiful crib is Roca.
Slightly further afield, you can view a 'living village' in Teruel as local people re-enact living as Joseph and Mary would have in biblical times.
Remember, whilst the Spanish celebrate Christmas day (25th of December), the big celebration is on the 6th of January when the Tres Reyes or three kings arrived at the crib of Jesus bearing gifts.
Hence, across Valencia and Spain the three kings arrive by boat, by camel, by horse and by helicopter to lead the children to their presents. Expect lots of processions.
Fallas festival - 1st to 19th March?
The Valencia Fallas festival is now a world recognised cultural festival. It begins on the 1st of March with 2pm 'Mascleta' and fire crackers and builds up with processions, bands and traditional costumes in the last week to the final crescendo on the night the of 19th of March - St Joseph's day.
On this last night - across Valencia, across the region and in all the local towns and villages, the huge flammable and colourful statues are lit and burnt to the ground amid much celebration and many tears of joy.
In Puzol we normally enjoy two or three statues and burnings as do most nearby towns and, of course, nearby Valencia has the most enourmous and beautiful Fallas of all.
What happens at Easter time?
Easter is a big time of processions across Spain. Many local churches will led processions during this time and for the weekends that follow, include San Juan church in the old town are of Pucol.
Our biggest local Easter (or Pascua) festival takes place in the nearby mountain town of Segorbe (30 mins) where there are daily events and performances.
23rd of June - San Juan?
If you are lucky enough to be in Puzol on the night of the 23rd of June then head to the beach with fire wood and beer.
Light a beach fire and then at midnight jump over the waves making three wishes as you do so.
Typically, there are bulls running in the street on this night too - but take care just to watch from a safe place as there are often injuries.
First 10 days of September?
The first days of September is a special time in Pucol. Firstly, the well renowned Ruta de la Tapa - or Tapas Route - offers a wonderful way to sample creativity (and a beer or glass of wine) in all of Pucol's bars and restaurants for just a couple of euros each.
From the 5th of September, there will be bull running in the streets for a few days followed by firework processions, traditional dancing and local marching bands.
What is the weather like?
Los Monasterios has a fabulous micro-climate, a couple of degrees cooler than Valencia in the hot and humid summer months. It also attracts the evening breeze to provide a lovely atmosphere for alfresco dining.
The Autumn in Valencia is a like a long never ending Indian summer with warm sunny days and a little cooler at night to make the evening pleasant.
Spring has plenty of bright light and lots of warm days. From the 1st of March, the beginning of Fallas, it always feel that winter has been defeated.
Christmas can often be sunny and you'll still need your suncream.
January and February are the coolest months but the light is still bright (the reason that so many artists are based in the region) even though you will want to wear an extra layer.
Our villa enjoys thick double glazing and log fire during winter to keep it warm and inviting. During the summer months, its thick walls and modern insulation help keep the heat out and the upstairs air conditioning will ensure you sleep well.
Costa Blanca is famous for the ‘Brits Abroad’ culture, and it’s understandable why it attracts such crowds throughout the summer months. Guaranteed weather, world-class beaches, tons of family facilities and bumpin’ nightlife is a recipe in popularity. Why not experience a different side of Costa Blanca with a villa holiday?
Behind the crowds on the tourist beaches lie incredible mountains, hidden coves, vineyards and ancient villages that have yet to be discovered. You’ll also find some seriously swanky eateries and luscious spa experiences if you’re all about kicking back in luxury.
Amazing villa - you don't need to leave!
This is an amazing spacious villa which is kitted out out with thought and care and to an exceptional standard. Garden and outdoor space is spectacular. I would genuinely say this is one of the best villas i have stayed in. Would be great for a couple of families to share as there are numerous bathrooms and outdoor areas for people to get privacy. Finally Maria, who looks after the property was on hand for the duration of our stay. Really attentive and super helpful. She organised swimming lesson for us with the most fantastic swim instructor. All in all - couldnt recommend highly enough - thank you.
Ideal for a family with Children
This villa was great and perfect for all our needs. Having a gated swimming pool area was ideal, because of our children. Our contact Maria was very helpful.
It was without doubt the best villa we'd ever visited.
The location is great
The location is great and plenty to explore with restaurants, activities and close enough to Valencia to enjoy everything the city has to offer for all ages. Tony
A beautiful and outstanding villa
This beautiful outstanding villa with a lovely garden including a pool is situated in the prestigious residential area of Los Monasterios 6km north of the town of Pucol and about 30km from Valencia city center.
It is beautifully furnished, clean and it feels like being in heaven when you sit outside on the terrace enjoying your meal. It is not far to the beach and to Pucol where you can get everything you need. It is a place to relax and enjoy and I can highly recommend a stay in this beautiful villa.”
Experience a true Spanish vacation
“Experience a Spanish vacation in this Villa!”
This Villa provides you with all the comforts and amenities of home while allowing you to enjoy Valencia and its surrounding beauty.
As this place is nestled next to mountains, it captures the ocean breeze nicely. It’s a short drive to Mediterranean beaches and a train station that takes you into the heart of the beautiful city of Valencia!
You can enjoy an evening view of the city of Valencia and the Mediterranean Sea from the terrace of every room or watch the sun set with a glass of wine from the top floor balcony, perhaps my favourite place in this Villa!
If you don’t feel like the beach, no problem! You can spend all day, even the night, in a fantastic swimming pool and the yard is phenomenal for young children.
Don’t feel like eating out? Cook from a modern and first class kitchen and enjoy a meal on the terrace. Staying in this beautiful Valencian Villa was one of the highlights of our Spanish vacation. This villa is beautiful! It will make you want to sell your current home and build one just like it!

Most amazing place I have ever stayed
“Most amazing place I have ever stayed”
Looking for a Vacation Home? Look no further… This is your home away from home. I could write a dissertation on how wonderful this villa is but unfortunately, I do not have much space. So, if you are looking for style, comfort, cleanliness, privacy, and much more – this is the place.
The owners made sure all of our needs were met from the day we arrived till the day we departed.
A few of my favorites were:
• The views of the city day and night.
• The master bath, more like a mini pool…so relaxing with a glass of wine and good book.
• The pool was incredible I never went to the beach.
Exploring the neighbourhood and nearby trails.
As I said I could write a dissertation. Instead of me telling you I suggest you experience this amazing villa yourself. Book a vacation here and enjoy.
