Regarded as Puerto Santiago’s quieter and more relaxed neighbour, Playa de la Arena is an unpretentious little holiday resort that often gets overshadowed by more the lively destinations on the west coast. Although not action-packed with trendy clubs or exciting theme parks, Playa de la Arena offers a natural, rugged type of beauty that the mainstream holiday resorts can’t compete with. Playa de la Arena is an up-and-coming resort ideal for couples – both young and old – or young families who are looking to take some time out and just enjoy relaxing in each other’s company.
One of the resort’s most prominent characteristics is the pure black colour of the beach, which is made up of volcanic sand. This intriguing shade is much darker than most of the island’s other bays and is, in fact, the natural colour of sand on the island. Many of the other beaches have sand that has either been imported or dug up offshore and transported back to land. The colour of the sand – as well as the swaying palm trees, glistening ocean and mysterious shadow of La Gomera on the horizon – lends Playa de la Arena a tropical feel unlike any other resort on the island.
Playa de la Arena is found in a part of the island which enjoys some of the best weather in Tenerife because it hardly ever rains – even during the winter months. This makes the resort one of the best places on the island to stay if you’re in search of sun, sand, sea and serenity.

Tenerife is the island of a thousand experiences. There are a thousand things you can do at any time of year, thanks to the mild climate and the enormous range of activities on offer in the largest of the Canary Islands.
The lively beaches with fine, golden sand and calm waters are located in Tenerife’s main tourist hubs in the south of the island. But there are also quieter beaches, further away from the towns, dotted along the coast. There are some with dark, volcanic sand shaped into marvellous natural pools and ponds that are protected from the waves.
Villa Tenerife Punta is a welcoming family retreat, and it has plenty of indoor and outdoor space ready for any kids to enjoy. The garden is tiled and spacious therefore the kids can run around and enjoy games and picnics in this space, as well as making the most of the sun. Additionally, there is a private heated swimming pool with a very shallow end that is the perfect addition to this villa. If the weather isn’t optimal, then you have the added feature of satellite TV and the wi-fi being available for you to use. This can offer the kids some entertainment if needed on those bad weather days.
