What Oliver loves…
- Set just a few minutes from the main ski lift, making for a great location for skiing
- Sauna and hot tub on the terrace: an ideal way to unwind after a day on the slopes!
- All the privacy of an independent home along with the convenience and luxury of full catering
- An array of optional extras, from massages to beer orders, to pre-arranged ski passes and equipment hire
Chalet Bergjuwel is a traditional style Austrian chalet, offering an authentic Alpine experience for families or groups, set just a short distance from the Nasserein hamlet and ski lifts. This fully catered home is a sumptuous environment for eight guests and is finessed with a charming air of chalet grandeur, from glittering chandeliers to ornate wood carved fittings!
Guests will be able to arrive and relax in the knowledge that every detail has been taken care of. With resident chalet host and a fully catered provision, this is an excellent option for those who seek a seamless stay.
Brimming with rustic charm, the interiors are simple yet well-finished, with heaps of character. At the end of a long day on the slopes, guests have the delight of being able to enjoy a re-invigorating sauna, and following this, enjoy the decadence of slipping into the bubbling hot tub. With playful flair, the sauna hut is adorned with a pair of reindeer antlers, whilst there is a seating area to sit back and enjoy the privacy of one’s own outdoor space (unusual with typical chalet accomodation).
The living room makes for a cosy retreat, with the feel of a hunter’s lodge it is a warming space, with wooden paneling and wood burning stove; guests will be able to unwind with their post-dinner coffee or a glass of wine. A chic dining room is gracefully finished with monochrome ski photography and avant-garde lighting - it sets the scene for lively three course meals. From champagne welcome to afternoon teas, the hosts will ensure guests every culinary need is met.
The bedrooms are comfortable and full of traditional style with the characteristic wood paneling, as well as setting the tone for restorative calm up at the base of the majestic Arlberg mountains.
Rated among the top five resorts in the Alps, St Anton offers both fierce terrain and hedonistic night life, as well as world-class prestige when it comes to ski infrastructure and connections to other resorts. Chalet Bergjuwel is set only 600m from Nasserein hamlet and moments from a some of the more gentle slopes that the resort has to offer, as well as a well regarded ski school. St Anton has a kudos within the ski world, with a pioneering role in ski technology and a smattering of former championship names, it offers some 340 km of slopes, 200 km of which are considered challenging off-piste terrain. It covers most bases when it comes to skiing, from the legendary après-ski scene to excellent schools for novices to the exhilarating Valluga north-face off piste!

Chalet Bergjuwel is nestled at the outskirts of St Anton, yet only a few minutes walk from the main ski lift.
Amongst serious skiers and snowboarders, St Anton has a cult following, due to its consistently excellent snow conditions and extensive terrain, circa 340 km of slopes, 200 km of which is off-piste. Hiring a ski guide can be an excellent way of enjoying this resort, or taking advantage of one of the many excellent ski schools that cater to all levels. Nasserein, only minutes walk away, offers fairly gentle beginner slopes at its base, becoming more challenging the higher you go.
Known for being excellently connected, as well as having cutting-edge ski technology and a pioneering role in the world of skiing (birthplace of Hannes Schneider, the father of modern skiing), St Anton boasts the world-class Galzig gondola, the world’s first lift to boast a ferris wheel system, whisking skiers across the Moos valley to surrounding resorts.
From beginner slopes at Nasserein, to intermediate slopes at Rendl to a challenging red from Albonagrat to St Christophe, St Anton has an endless array of options to suit all members of the group.
Heading into the village centre, St Anton offers a blend of traditional Alpine village life, from centuries-old farmhouse buildings and 17th century church, to buzzing, somewhat legendary après-ski scene. The centre of the village is a lively place at night, centred around the Piccadilly Pub, The Kandahar and Bar Cuba.

Nestled in the Austrian Alps, St Anton is the resort of many skiers dreams (albeit very different from its French counterparts). Based around an old mountain village in Tyrol, it is positively bustling with life. The centre of everything St Anton is the buzzing high street known as the Dorfstrasse. This is where shops, restaurants and bars abound, and as is typical of Austria, the food is fantastic and everything is great value for money. Most of the village is still made up of timber and stone farmhouses dating back centuries. This might make things look old-school, but the ski facilities and the world-renowned nightlife have certainly kept up with the years.
The main thing to keep in mind when planning your snow-filled adventures in St Anton is that the skiing here is not for beginners. There are some good slopes for first-timers in the quieter Nasserein, but intermediates and experts will have the most fun. They can ski not only St Anton but the whole of the Arlberg region (including Lech and Zurs) with the same lift pass. These resorts are connected by a world-class cableway known as the Flexenbahn so there’s no need for a bus unless you prefer it.
St Anton also happens to be one of the snowiest areas in all of Europe, both in early December as well as at the end of the season which tends to last well into April. This means you have very good odds of finding fresh powder on the pistes most mornings. In addition to the impressive 304 kilometres of slopes, there are also 200 kilometres worth of off-piste skiing available in challenging and exciting terrain.
And for those who still haven’t had enough excitement at the end of the day, you’ll be happy to know that St Anton is the party capital of the ski world. This is where you’ll find some of the biggest and craziest après-ski experiences, mainly thanks to the iconic Mooserwirt and Krazy Kanguruh bars that have been around since the 1960s. The town is also filled with live music and DJs all night long, to keep you on your dancing feet until its time to hit the slopes again.
Chalet Bergjuwel is an excellent choice for families with children and is located near the well-known beginners slopes at the Nasserein.
There is also a ski school at the base station, whilst there are an array of options throughout St Anton beginning from kindergarten age, often run by former ski champions. With half day and full day options, and different practice areas depending on the age and ability of the children, St Anton is an excellent, safe place for children to learn to ski.
When they tire of the slopes, St Anton has an array of other non-ski based options. A visit to the town’s leisure centre, the Arlberg WellCom is a great option, with an array of activities including a children’s pool.
