Chalet Island is located amongst its own secluded orchards and gardens with some unbelievable views across the nearby villages and the valley stretching all the way to the Vanoise National Park, with Mount Bec towering above the valley - 3400 metres high and with a picture-perfect sharp pyramid-like top. Here, you can avoid the crowds and clamour of busy resorts and their hectic entertainment and find true peaceful haven you will never want to leave... Not even to go skiing!

The chalet was completely rebuilt and redesigned in 2017 and can sleep twelve in its six bedrooms, plus another 3 people in a separate chalet next door.

In the main chalet, the ground floor is a huge open space with a high, beamed ceiling, suspended drop-shaped fireplace and plenty of natural light, showing off those stunning mountain views. There is a group of inviting armchairs around the fireplace and another one around a flatscreen TV, allowing everyone to warm up or catch up on some news.

The modern open plan kitchen has a large, hand-made oak dining table which can easily seat eighteen, the table is positioned to out to the most fantastic vista of the mountains

An L shaped balcony runs around this level allowing you to admire the view and breathe in some fantastically fresh air. The same floor houses a ski boot room with heated prongs and a sauna.

Just one floor down, from this stunning viewing deck, on the ‘sitting room floor’ is an extremely homely sitting room. Warmed up by a wood burning stove, with a large TV creating a cinema area and a couple of comfortable armchair gatherings, perfect for smaller groups playing games or reading.

The master bedroom is also on the on the ‘sitting room floor’, with an en suite bathroom and direct access to the jacuzzi situated on the spacious terrace.

On the lowest level are the remaining 5 bedrooms, each decorated differently, giving it its own unique character, whether it is art deco or Biedermeier style, it might also tap into the seasons or the passions of the owner's family. All bedrooms come with their own bath or shower room. Book now and find true zen in this beautiful valley!

An added bonus is a small second Chalet located next door, enjoying the same lovely views it has 1 bedroom and is ideal for additional friends or family.
The chalet is fully catered and includes breakfast, expertly prepared 4 course dinners (on 6 nights) and complimentary drinks including Veuve Clicquot or Taittinger champagne.  A chauffeured minibus is included to make sure you can get to the slopes as soon as you are ready.

Chalet Island is located in its own secluded Orchards, just an 8-10 minute drive from the nearest Olympie telecabine at Les Allues and a 15-20 minute drive to the centre of Méribel.

Méribel is a village with a true alpine heart. You won’t find blocks of hotels and purpose-built facilities here. Instead, the compact and lively town centre is picture-postcard perfect, and its atmosphere is quaint and fairytale-like. Meribel offers fantastic skiing and snowboarding for all levels of ability and a huge range of non-skiing activities.

It is without a doubt the most romantic resort in the area and if you’re planning a couples holiday in the snow you’ll definitely want to take a closer look at Méribel.

At the centre of the world famous Trois Vallées (Three Valleys), Méribel makes up part of the largest ski domain in the world. It has over 150km of pistes, plenty of backcountry and off-piste skiing and snow cannons cover 65% of the ski area.

Across the valleys, it has six sister resorts. You can either get a single-resort lift pass and keep to the fantastic beginner and intermediate terrain there, but you also have the option of purchasing a pass that covers the whole area.

The advanced lift system at Méribel will let you maximise your time on the snow and make sure you’re not waiting around in queues. With 67 runs to try out just in the resort itself, there is no time to be wasted. Just beware of the afternoon sun cutting things short on the west-facing slopes and prepare to get up with the sun if you’re after untouched powder. At it’s highest skiing point Méribel reaches an altitude of 2952 metres and the descent from this point is known to be one of the most scenic runs around.

Aside from the world-class skiing, Méribel is also known to be one of the liveliest resorts in the Three Valleys. Many of its residents and bar-owners (as well as plenty of its visitors) are expat-Brits who certainly know how to party. The après-ski scene here is truly top-notch!

Owner Profile

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
It's the best chalet in the valley - so I bought it.

Are there any interesting stories in its history?
How many ski chalets have their own orchard, own cider, deer in the garden and natural water supply? The nearest building is the ancient town bread oven, from the 18th century. Bread was allowed to be baked once a month, and only after the town seigneur had received his bread tax. (But now you can make your own bread in the chalet breadmaker).

What’s the strangest or most difficult guest request you’ve ever received?
One guest always insists in having 10 pillows on his bed, just for him !

For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do? Use the telescope to see skiers in La Plagne, Couchevel and Meribel (and the siamese cat in the village opposite)

Lastly, what insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
This chalet is an insider tip. only for people in the know
