Chalet Storr is a prestigious, yet cosily inviting apartment-style rental set on the second floor of a new building, in the centre of Val d’Isère. The French owner has finished this sleek and contemporary pad with flair and modern verve, whilst retaining an original feel. With natural timber, stone, and exposed beams throughout, this sumptuous abode is the quintessentially warming retreat to return to after a day on the slopes.

The vivacious open plan living and dining space features a central log burning fire, chic timber cladding off-set by lavish fabrics such as velveteen and faux fur. Chic and elegant, the neutral earthy palette contrasts with pops of vivid teal and buttery yellow. A glittering chandelier completes the glamorous tone. Stroll out of the delightful living space to the balcony for wonderful views over the village.

Eight guests can be comfortably accommodated across four en-suite bedrooms, each impeccably finessed with the hallmarks of quality at every turn. Opulent jacquard headboards, avant-garde light-fittings and hotel quality linen add a little dash of luxury, whilst fluffy towels and premium toiletries add to the lavish feel of this abode.

Chalet Storr is an ideal choice for those who seek rejuvenation within a hassle-free and and fully serviced setting. With both full catering and a chalet host on hand, every detail is taken care of. From after dinner coffees, pre dinner canapés, energy-boosting breakfasts, to full three course dinners, guests can relax and enjoy being pampered. Whether it be equipment hire or ski school booking, airport transfers, or massages, the concierge team can organise it.

Set right by Val d’Isère high street, Chalet Storr is all about location, with access to both the slopes, as well as the bustling, cosmopolitan village. Retaining a sense of old world charm, Val d’Isère blends the charming “old town” complete with 17th century church with the high-end boutiques, restaurants and cosmopolitan buzz of the resort.

Val d’Isère is a prestigious resort, set in the French Alps, close to the Italian borders, offering easy connections to neighbouring Tignes and some of the best snow conditions in Europe, known for having an exceptionally long season lasting through to the beginning of May. With Olympic credentials, a whole host of annual events and competitions, slopes for all levels as well as the infamous 915 m drop at Face Bellevarde, this bustling resort draws ski lovers season after season.

Chalet Storr is nestled in the heart of Val d’Isère and with the slopes just a short stroll away, it couldn’t be better located for winter sports enthusiasts. Renowned for its excellent snow quality and super long season (lasting until the beginning of May), it is considered one of the top resorts in Europe.

The village retains its original Alpine charm, with traditional, chocolate-box pretty chalet buildings in stone and timber, and 17th century church in the “old town” whilst the cosmopolitan buzz of boutiques, restaurants and bars brings it to life during the season. Set close to the Italian border, forming part of the Space Killy region, Val d’Isère offers effortless links to the neighbouring Tignes, boasting an impressive 3,400 km of pistes and 78 lifts.

With a kudos amongst advanced skiers, with its infamous 915 m drop at the Face Bellevarde, as well as offering summer skiing on the Grande Motte glacier (20 km of pistes), Val d’Isère also caters well for beginners and intermediates. Re-developments have seen sleek new improvements in the infrastructure for beginners and families, for example, a gondola with heated seats and Wi-Fi, a giant magic carpet, and reduced slope gradient.

The Resort

Val d’Isere is the oldest of the French ski resorts and a gleaming icon at the end of the valley where the residential town lies. Surrounded by what is arguably some of the most beautiful mountain landscape in the world, the chalet village is centred around a charming baroque church. It’s a lovely place for wandering, taking in the cosy atmosphere and spending quality time with your favourite people.

Val d’Isere is composed of three skiing sections. These are La Daille, Val d’Isere centre and Le Fornet, all of which are linked by a free shuttle service. Alongside Tignes, the resort is part of a wider ski area known as Espace Killy, and a lift pass will get you access to its entirety. Ski season in both resorts stretches as long as May.

Thanks to its high altitude, Val d’Isere is probably your most snow sure option for skiing in the French Alps. The village rests at 1850 metres and its peak on top of the La Grande Motte glacier is 3456 metres high. Sixty per cent of the resort’s pistes are set above 2200 metres, meaning that the skiing is consistently good but on rare occasions, bad weather can cause the slopes to close. It’s also important to keep in mind that Val d’Isere isn’t the best choice if you’re just finding your feet on the snow, and beginners may well find themselves challenged. On the flipside, Val d’Isere is one of the top choices for experienced skiers and snowboarders, with plenty of challenging black runs (such as the iconic Face the Bellevarde, where the 1992 Olympic men’s downhill was run).

And to go with some of the most exciting and picturesque skiing in France, down in the village you’ll find some amazing bars and restaurants. What better way to celebrate conquering that tricky black run than by indulging in some equally entertaining après-ski? On the mountain itself, you can start your evening with DJ’s and live music at La Folie Douce until the lifts close and then work your way into town.

Chalet Storr is an excellent option for families with children, with its central village location, proximity to excellent ski schools and nursery slopes, this resort caters to the whole family. Children can enjoy lessons in French or English, with the fun of magic carpets, tobogganing or husky sleigh rides, they will have enchanting memories of the slopes.

If little ones tire of the snow, Val d’Isère has an excellent sports centre with swimming pool at the Centre Aquasportif. For young wildlife enthusiasts, a trip to the magnificent Vanoise National Park makes for a wonderful family day out.

This sumptuous chalet offers hassle-free travel with children; the concierge service offers pre-arranges ski passes, along with ski school and child-care, whilst airport transfers and equipment hire can also be arranged, making for a seamless trip.
