Chalet Oran is a chic and stylish contemporary apartment, finessed with interior panache as well as original chalet flair, set within the bustling centre of Val d’Isère. Sitting within a traditional-style chalet building, the French owners have decorated this abode with grace and charisma; no detail is left under-thought.

Accommodating eight guests across four en-suite bedrooms, Chalet Oran is an ideal choice for keen skiers, with the slopes just a stroll away. Elevating this home to luxurious heights, it offers an array of pampering extras, including catering as well as optional services - whether it be organised ski passes, ski school, airport transfers or equipment hire, this home’s host service can arrange it for you. For those who wish to enjoy the slopes, without meal planning or the hassle of buying in groceries, Chalet Oran ticks all the boxes. From delectable three course dinners, to champagne welcome, to pre-dinner canapés, Chalet Oran’s catering team will ensure guests dine in style.

The interiors are bursting with warming, cosy and inviting style. Predominantly featuring timber, with a Scandinavian feel, along with exposed wooden beams and beautifully crafted furnishings, this is a sumptuous base to return to after a busy day. And what could round it off better than a sauna, to stretch sore limbs after a day on the slopes!

The open-plan living, kitchen and dining space provides dining for eight in an informal, yet elegant space, featuring low-hanging Scandi-style lighting, gorgeous textured fabrics including faux fur rug and cushions, as well as splashes of canary yellow against black and charcoal upholstery. Guests will enjoy the convivial element of this space, to reconvene at the end of the day with a glass of wine, or to relax by the log-burning fire. Wandering through the French windows to the terrace with morning coffee as the village wakes up will be a delight.

The bedrooms are chic and unfussy, finished minimally yet stylishly, with jacquard style bedheads or wallpaper contrasting with the natural timber look. Quality linens, fluffy towels and luxury toiletries simply complete the premium feel of this abode.

Impeccably located, Chalet Oran is just a short walk away from the slopes, set just off the pretty centre of Val d’Isère. With access to world-class skiing and bustling village life, as well as a buzzing nightlife scene, this place is hard to beat. Two main ski areas are minutes walk away, whilst the high street offers a blend of designer boutiques, quality eateries and historical interest. Stretching to 3 kilometres, this post-card pretty village is home to 17th century church which is at the centre of the “old town.”

With Olympic credentials, as well as hosting an array of events and competitions, Val d’Isère is crème-de-la-crème in the ski world. Attracting many Brits, it’s known for having an extremely long season, for its quality snow and easy connection to neighbouring Tignes. Boasting an impressive 300 km of piste and 78 lifts, this resort caters from beginners to black slope skiers, it is known for its summer skiing on the glacier as well as the infamous 915 metre drop at the Face de Bellevarde. Chalet Oran offers a fabulous base from which this premium resort can be enjoyed.

Chalet Oran is in the heart of Val d’Isère, a prestigious ski resort in the French Alps at the end of the Haute Tarentaise valley. With chocolate-box charm, this pretty village is home to a delightful “old town” complete with 17th century church, as well as a bustling and lively high street, with designer boutiques, buzzing night-life and restaurants.

Val d'Isère's record of snowfall is exceptional, being known as having some of the best in Europe, and offering one of the longest seasons extending to the beginning of May. Hosting a number of ski events and competitions each year, it offers excellent infrastructure as well as well as forming a generous ski space when combined with Tignes, to form what is known as the Espace Killy.

Originally a small farming village, Val d'Isère has developed into a modern Alpine resort while maintaining its village feel. The old town has traditional wooden and stone buildings, whilst the cosmopolitan buzz of the new town attracts a well heeled crowd. An efficient ski bus service links neighbouring towns together, so cars are not needed. Catering for beginners through to advanced off-piste skiers, it is home to the infamous 915 m drop at Face Bellevarde, as well as the glacier which enables summer skiing.

Aside from skiing, Val d’Isère also has a number of luxury spas, high-end boutiques to browse, a cinema, a sports center with swimming pool, climbing wall, squash courts and a gym, meaning there is plenty to do aside from skiing.

The Resort

Val d’Isere is the oldest of the French ski resorts and a gleaming icon at the end of the valley where the residential town lies. Surrounded by what is arguably some of the most beautiful mountain landscape in the world, the chalet village is centred around a charming baroque church. It’s a lovely place for wandering, taking in the cosy atmosphere and spending quality time with your favourite people.

Val d’Isere is composed of three skiing sections. These are La Daille, Val d’Isere centre and Le Fornet, all of which are linked by a free shuttle service. Alongside Tignes, the resort is part of a wider ski area known as Espace Killy, and a lift pass will get you access to its entirety. Ski season in both resorts stretches as long as May.

Thanks to its high altitude, Val d’Isere is probably your most snow sure option for skiing in the French Alps. The village rests at 1850 metres and its peak on top of the La Grande Motte glacier is 3456 metres high. Sixty per cent of the resort’s pistes are set above 2200 metres, meaning that the skiing is consistently good but on rare occasions, bad weather can cause the slopes to close. It’s also important to keep in mind that Val d’Isere isn’t the best choice if you’re just finding your feet on the snow, and beginners may well find themselves challenged. On the flipside, Val d’Isere is one of the top choices for experienced skiers and snowboarders, with plenty of challenging black runs (such as the iconic Face the Bellevarde, where the 1992 Olympic men’s downhill was run).

And to go with some of the most exciting and picturesque skiing in France, down in the village you’ll find some amazing bars and restaurants. What better way to celebrate conquering that tricky black run than by indulging in some equally entertaining après-ski? On the mountain itself, you can start your evening with DJ’s and live music at La Folie Douce until the lifts close and then work your way into town.

Boasting the “Family Plus” label, Val d’Isère has an array of free nursery slopes and a wide choice of ski schools and instructors for all capabilities, teaching lessons in French or English, accepting children as young as 18 months into the children’s village. Either “Le Village” chairlift or “La Savonette” button lift are a great option for children - two free ski lifts in the heart of the village, taking children to the Solaise beginners area where there is a magic carpet.

When they tire of the slopes, tobogganing or ice skating are both great options, or a trip to the magnificent Vanoise National Park, which is one of the highlights of the Tarentaise region. A haven for all sorts of wildlife, it makes for a wonderful family day out.
