Villa Fernao is nestled within private grounds in a well-heeled suburb of Lisbon, offering both proximity to bustling city life as well as coast - for the best of both worlds! Set a short distance from the shores of the Tagus river, just a stone’s throw from the beaches of Cascais and Caparica.
With views of the Tagus River and the Atlantic Ocean, close-by Belém’ forts once stood to protect Lisbon’s harbour from attack; today it is a delightful neighbourhood offering an escape from the main part of the city. Tucked into its historic streets and alleyways are a multitude of dining options, from wine bars to cafes.
Pastéis de Belém is Lisbon’s most popular confectionery shop. Having made artisan pastries since the first half of the 19th century, this bustling spot usually has a long queue outside. The pastel de natas are sublime!
The beauty of the Lisbon coast is that it provides a breezy escape from the capital, whilst being home to some of Portugal’s historic jewels, which attract thousands of visitors: the ancient walled town of Obidos, the 12th century monastery at at Alcobaca, the Catholic pilgrimage site of Fatima, and the fairytale palaces of Sintra.

Villa Fernao has been designed with the needs of family-living in mind. Safely enclosed within gated grounds, the pool has a safety fence and the interiors are very child-friendly. An array of additional services will add an extra layer of comfort, whether it be a chef-prepared meal and babysitting services or chauffeurs tours.
This region of Portugal is ideal for families, with so much on offer whether it be exploring local fishing villages, enjoying the bustle of quintessential Portuguese market towns, or outdoors pursuits including water-sports, riding, walking, tennis or cycling.
Steeped in history, the Castelo de Sesimbra is a worth a visit; a wonderful place to visit with children and explore what castle life would have really been like, whilst there is a quaint church and spectacular views.
Boat trips on the Sado Estuary - the river that separates the regional capital of Setubal from the Troja Peninsula - a tapestry of silvery salt flats and aquamarine water are a great family activity. Children will delight in the flocks of flamingoes and dolphins who hunt and breed in its fish rich waters.
