Comporta has a rhythm and an ambience that are all it's own. This wild and unspoilt part of Portugal attracts an in-the-know international crowd, including renowned artists, designers, and A-listers.

Comporta has a remarkable diversity of natural systems with long stretches of beach, windswept dunes, scenic pine forests, salt marshes and rice paddies which become a vibrant green in June. The region is also characterized by rice fields and its main attraction, the Comporta beach: 20 kilometres of uninterrupted white sand, a beach lover’s paradise.

As with the rest of Portugal, you can expect sun-blessed weather year-round in Comporta. The best months of the year to visit Comporta for long beach stays are from June to September, while the spring and autumn months are still suitable for picnics or day trips.

ABOUT THE LISBON COAST

The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.

The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.

But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas on Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!

Lisbon is a family-friendly city with much entertainment for children. The Oceanarium was opened in 1998 in the Parque das Nacoes. It boasts a huge collection of marine species, including penguins, seagulls, sea otters, sharks, rays, chimaeras, sea horses, starfish, sea urchins, corals, sea anemones, crustaceans, octopuses, jellyfish and much more. The popular Lisbon Zoo is home to Sumatran tigers, lions, giraffes, dolphins, birds, pelicans, reptiles and elephants. There is a children’s petting and feeding farm and a fun cable car.

On a rainy day, KidZania is a child-sized city where children can play at being grown-ups trying out different occupations earning money to spend in the supermarket, renting a car or treating themselves to a haircut. Lisbon is famously built on seven hills which give wonderful views. The number 28 tram makes thrillingly steep ascents and descents as it passes through the different neighbourhoods and past historical sights such as the Cathedral and Basilica de Estrela.
