Overview
With wonderful views of the surrounding Umbrian hills, Villa Elice is a warm and welcoming holiday home which enjoys a beautiful setting between Perugia and Todi, allowing you to explore the best of this alluring and hospitable region.
This farmhouse has been sensitively renovated by its loving owners who have created an inviting home filled with charm and character. Exposed stonework and original wood-beamed ceilings feature alongside comfortable furnishings, some of which have been crafted locally. In cooler months gather by the working fireplace in the downstairs lounge whilst in the summer French windows open up to the glorious grounds. Six pretty bedrooms can be found across the two floors as well as five shower rooms in this authentic and spacious abode.
Admire the majestic pine trees that stand proudly in front of the villa as you gather with family and friends to dine on the al-fresco terrace having created a feast in the wood-fired oven. Wander across to the swimming pool surrounded by olive trees, relax on a sun-lounger or find a shady spot in the glorious and verdant gardens.
With a hillside setting, the house is located near a beautifully restored borgo which dates back to the medieval times. A little further afield you can visit the vineyards of Montefalco, see the world’s smallest theatre in Montecastello di Vibio or admire the frescoes in Bevagna. Both Todi and Perugia can also be reached in under half an hour or discover the historic treasures of other archetypal Umbrian towns such as Assisi, Spello and Orvieto.
Closer to home, hike through the Umbrian hills or seek out mountain bike trails whilst the most adventurous can find watersports and quad biking at Lake Trasimeno, under an hour away. Try the region’s excellent olive oil or spend autumnal days searching for truffles in the forests that cover this incredible region. With such remarkable landscapes and outstanding natural beauty, it’s no wonder Umbria is widely known as the Green Heart of Italy.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa EliceIn the very heart of Umbria, Villa Elice enjoys a rural setting on a country road, close to the edge of a beautifully restored yet uninhabited borgo/village.
There’s a traditional restaurant around nearby (best to book ahead during busy times) or head to the small hilltop village of Collazzone for a café-bar and other useful amenities. There is also a supermarket within a 10-minute drive.
This part of Umbria is well known for its extra virgin olive oil, truffles and even its wine from the vineyards around Montefalco, around 20km away.
Situated between Perugia and Todi, this is also great location for visiting some of Umbria’s loveliest hilltop towns and villages. Start off in Todi with its picturesque square, Piazza del Popolo, known to be one of the prettiest in Umbria. Soak up the historic ambience in the winding lanes, try out some Umbrian fare in one of the many charming restaurants and look out for local specialities at the Saturday morning market.
Bevagna and Montecastello di Vibio are also both delightful places to visit close by. A little further afield is Perugia, an incredibly beautiful city with one of Italy’s oldest universities as well as historic associations with chocolate. Admire the city’s exquisite architecture as you stroll through its medieval lanes discovering its varied and fascinating history.
Other Umbrian gems include fortified Spello, medieval Spoleto with its Ponte delle Torri and famous Assisi, home to the breathtaking Basilica di San Francesco and a UNESCO World Heritage site. A little further, just an hour away, is Orvieto another archetypal Umbrian hilltop town with its magnificent cathedral.
Lake Trasimeno, a true star of Umbria, is also easily reached in around 45-minutes. Wildlife lovers can take guided tours in the summer at La Valle Natural or drive a little further to the famous village of Castiglione del Lago with its castle and Etruscan tombs. Pick up a ferry to one of the lake’s enchanting islands or relax by the beach and dine in one of the many restaurants scattered across this area. Watersports on the lake include sailing, canoeing and kayaking and the most adventurous guests can also try out kite-surfing or even quad biking.
