Villa Mediterraneo is located strategically between the sea and the hills. On a hillside 124 feet above sea level, it commands a spectacular Mediterranean vista. Its views stretch down to the farthest mountains of the Calabria region on one side and as far as the Cape of the Infreschi and the wild coastal tract between Scario and Marina di Camerota on the other side.

Two-thirds of the estate is covered by lush woodland, thick with cork oak, a plant typical of the surrounding environment that stretches along the coastline of the Bay of Policastro between S. Marina and Sapri.

Surrounded by a large enclosed garden, Villa Mediterraneo is the perfect accommodation for families and children. Pets are allowed.

Villa Mediterraneo was built in 1992 and since has been re-decorated yearly. It is comprised of 3 different apartments, all with a view of the sea, and always rented collectively. The property is ideal for families or groups who wish to holiday together but also have their space.

The beach at Villammare is only 800 metres away and in the summer has lively beach cafes and facilities. The village centre offers a small selection of bars and restaurants. Nearby Sapri is a larger town with excellent train links to Salerno and Naples. Inland, the charming hilltop village of Vibonati is lit in ever-changing colours during the balmy summer evenings. Villammare itself sits at the southernmost point of the Cilento National Park – the second-largest in Italy, stretching across a vast mountain range and an important ecological area with abundant wildlife.

There are many historical sites to visit, from the famous and impressive Certosa monastery at Padula to the Ancient Greek temples at Paestum and the atmospheric, abandoned village of San Severino di Centola. Natural sites include the enchanting Hair of Venus waterfalls (Cascate di Venere) half an hour away at Casaletto Spartano, the Grotte di Castelcivita caves inland, and the Capo Palinuro sea caves, and numerous other places.

** Please note the property is positioned close to the Amalfi Coast but is actually located in Salerno Province **

Villa Mediterraneo is located a mere 10-minute walk from the beach of Villammare, an ancient fishing village at the foot of the extensive Cilento National Park. The park is one of the most beautiful strips of the Tyrrhenian coast, surrounded by the vivid colors of Mediterranean flora.
The villa is 10 minutes from long, sandy beaches including Santa Maria Le Piane. Villammare is a picturesque sea-front fringed with palms and eucalyptus trees, small restaurants, cozy venues, and cottages. These features make Villammare the perfect seaside resort for travelers from all over the world in search of friendly and charming spots off the beaten track.
The hilltop views are breathtaking. Activities offered include trekking the mountains in search of adventure, cruising along the Cilento coast, and enjoying the mouth-watering regional cuisine and the unique friendliness of the locals.

  • This was an incredible place to vacation for my family!

Posted by Dorothy K. on 06/10/2019

If you want to escape to the real Italy, away from the tourists but experience the best of the Italian coast - this is a gem! The pictures do no justice to this place. The villa is full of all the luxuries we needed. The bedrooms were all very large with good design and great amenities. The bathrooms were well stocked and extremely clean - as was the whole houses immaculate. The kitchen was great and a fun place to prepare food. The outdoor kitchen was also a real treasure at night for long dinners with our large group. There are many eating areas and balconies with well appointed seating for morning coffees, afternoon reading and evening cocktails. Lots of space to get some quiet time. Our family enjoyed so much time at the pool. It’s huge and has great steps leading into if you have little ones. There was a box full of pool toys too which was brilliant for our group. There was also a great slide and swing set in the garden - it is an endless activity center for a family. The villa is surrounded with lots of delicious fruit trees and everyday we picked lemons, plums, peaches as we played in the garden. It was magic. Perhaps the best part of the trip was our host Marzio and his team. He was incredible helping us plan activities before and during our stay (definitely recommend the boat trip and booking dinner at his local favorites). He shared with us his family wine - which tasted even better with the stories he shared about his family. Maria the housekeeper keeps the home immaculate and always there to help with anything we needed. They really made us feel welcome and shared the best of Italian hospitality. We will be back to stay again - it was heaven.

  • Once in a lifetime experience

Posted by Karen T on 14/06/2019

To say that Villa Mediterraneo is the perfect home for a family vacation would be an understatement. Everything about the villa exceeded our expectations. There is enough space (both indoors and outside) for people to relax, explore, and have fun. The HUGE pool (with lots of pool toys), plum trees, swings, and outdoor gathering spaces were a highlight. Our group consisted of 6 adults and 8 kids under 10. The house was safe, perfect for all ages, and spacious enough for naps, pool play, and outdoor relaxing to happen at the same time. The host gave us solid recommendations on restaurants, day trips and other amenities. This helped to create a once in a lifetime Cilento coast vacation that our families will never forget.

  • One of the best family holidays we have ever had!

Posted by Shelly S. on 12/06/2019

A fantastic location with sea views and private surrounds. Marzio our host made sure all our needs were fully met. Gardens pretty with apricot orchards set against blue sea vistas. The pool was hard to clamber out of. Perfect temperature (June) Equally the nearby sea was so clean and clear and delicious to swim in. Heavenly. Diversity of activities in this area. Cilento national park has stunning mountain scenery tumbling down to the sea. Hiking to waterfalls. Boat trips.

  • Very nice villa!

    Posted by Dorothy on 17/09/2018

The villa was extremely well-equipped & much more spacious than appears from the website. The owner was extremely helpful and took us to buy pizzas the evening we arrived. He also brought in chocolate cake and a delicious cherry pie. The ladies of our party were given aprons showing the villa as mementoes and we were taken for Italian ice creams before we returned home.

  • Amazing, unforgettable holiday

Posted by Renu S on 15/08/2018

An amazing week in an incredibly beautiful villa with stunning views! We spent a week at Villa Mediterraneo in August for a family reunion. We were 5 adults and 5 children (aged 6 to 15). We had an amazing week - one that we will remember forever! The villa is a gorgeous 3 floor structure and we rented the entire villa. On the first floor (or ground) are 3 bedrooms (one facing the sea, and the other two facing inwards, a large living living and dining space, 2 full bathrooms and a nice spacious kitchen. There are 2 doors that open up to a covered patio that looks over some lovely flowers and out down over the sea. There is also an outdoors dining area and then at a lower level a complete outdoor kitchen. The second floor has a contained 1 bedroom unit with its own living room (with a sofa bed), kitchen, dining area and a bathroom and the 3rd floor is also another independent bedroom unit (smaller than the second floor) but also with a small outdoor patio. The villa is luxurious and comes with a housekeeper. This is a huge help as it kept the villa clean and many chores done allowing us to spend more time with our families. From my earliest interactions with the owner I just felt incredibly comfortable in speaking to him. He went out of his way to ensure that his guests have an amazing time and he is always accessible. He went above and beyond to make the house comfortable and accessible for each of our family members. The villa has the most stunning views from all floors looking our towards the hills further south and out into the beautiful sea. The pool is incredible well kept and we spent at least 3 days lounging by the pool. There is plenty to do (boat excursions, beaches, driving to nearby villages or further out to Pompeii or Naples) or not do! It is a little out of the way but we loved that as it allowed us to experience a part of Italy that most foreign tourists never get to. The people in the surrounding villages are incredibly friendly even though they may not speak much English. The food and wine is amazing - a chef came and cooked many delicious 3 course meals for us. Upon our return I asked one of our 9 year old twins what his favourite part was and he responded "everything". Yes, we all agree. Thanks for an unforgettable reunion.
