This gorgeous home is nestled just off the Ionian coast of Sicily, nearby stunning shores and beautiful little alcoves. With calm shallow waters and sandy banks, Minaret Beach is popular with tourists and locals alike. For something slightly different, discover the magical underground world of Grotta della Pillirina, an impressive cave with preservation of stalactites and rock formations. As you reach further into its depths, you’ll be greeted by an opening which reveals a secret beach hidden by impressive white cliffs.

When you’re not exploring the rugged coastline, there are a variety of restaurants near the villa, where you can try some delicious Sicilian cuisine. Caponata, arancini and pasta alla norma are just some of the dishes worth trying if you really want to soak yourself up in the culture.

Active groups will love hiking through the Riserva Naturale Fiume Ciane. This stunning nature reserve is home to a wide variety of exciting wildlife, colourful foliage and unspoiled landscapes. There is a lovely walk along the Ciane River, which starts as a small spring and empties into the Porte Grande.

Syracuse is a historical city full of shops, restaurants and bars. You can take a boat trip around beautiful sea coves and visit the famous island of Ortigia, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander around its ancient streets, particularly in the city’s central archaeological park, Neapolis, which is home to a Greek theatre, a Roman Amphitheatre and the Orecchio di Dionisio, a peculiar limestone cave shaped like an ear! Learn more about the city’s rich history at the Museo Archeologico Regionale Paolo Orsi, which displays fascinating Roman portraits, terracotta artefacts and white marble carvings of Old Testament scenes.

With a diverse landscape and unique culture, Sicily is a wonderful place to holiday. One day you could be climbing up a mountain, the next lying on a picturesque beach – no two days need be the same. Mouthwatering Mediterranean cuisine, delicious wine and a vast history make this region a popular destination for tourists.
