Casa Delle Rondini nestles peacefully on a verdant hillside, close to Recco town on the Ligurian coast. This rustic villa is full of charm and has a welcoming atmosphere, which can be enjoyed throughout its beautifully-furnished rooms. Traditional features, such as the stone walls and wood beams, add a sense of heritage that complements the cool tiles and contemporary touches with their warmth.
The villa sits within an extensive garden that’s perfect for chilling out and soaking up the rural surroundings. Almost every corner of the outside space offers breathtaking views of the hills and valleys that are typical of this region. One of the best ways to experience the area is to follow hiking trails through nearby villages and high up into the hillside. Or enjoy a meal in the friendly local hamlet, which is just a few steps away.
On the main floor is the cosy and inviting living room where you can relax and spend quality time with family and friends. There’s even a fireplace to warm up chilly autumn evenings spent watching television on one of the comfortable sofas. Kitchen offers direct access to the outside space.
The first floor is home to two air-conditioned and restful bedrooms. One has a double bed, and the other features two single beds. There’s also a lovely family bathroom with a bathtub for unwinding after long days out.
Outside is an attractive terrace with a large, private swimming pool. Accessed from the pool area is a fantastic wellness room with sauna and exercise equipment, located on the lower ground floor. Also on this floor is a self-contained unit (accessed from outside) comprising of a small kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower.
Within the outside space that’s dotted with olive and chestnut trees there are shaded seating and dining areas, with a charming brick barbecue on offer too. Tucked away in a corner of the Mediterranean garden is an idyllic spot with a hot-tub for the ultimate relaxation.
It’s not all about the rolling countryside here though, as coastal Recco is just 7 km away. This town is the main foodie hotspot of the Ligurian coast, with many restaurants giving you the chance to try its famous focaccia with cheese.
Other spots to visit include Portofino and Genoa, with both offering plenty of history and culture. Genoa is a sightseer’s paradise, with ancient churches, squares and museums to tick off the list. Shopaholics and those looking for a touch of glamour will be impressed by Portofino’s luxury boutiques.
What you should know…
- The lower ground floor with 3th and 4th bedroom with wellness area is accessed from the outside.
- One of the bedrooms on the lower floor comprises of a sofa-bed with double futon-mattress placed on top to make it a standard double bed.
- Only the two bedrooms on the first floor have air-conditioning.
- Please note that whilst there is parking available near the villa, the path is steep.

About the surrounding area of Casa Delle RondiniCasa Delle Rondini is tucked away on a hillside that offers total peace and seclusion, but there are still plenty of amenities within easy driving distance.The views over the hills and green valleys as you wind your way through the hills are simply breathtaking.
Avegno village is less than a 10-minute drive from the villa, which is home to several restaurants and a supermarket. However, you’ll probably want to drive to the laidback coastal town of Recco to do your grocery shopping and to enjoy days out.
Recco is most famous for its focaccia with cheese - so if there’s one thing you must do when you visit the town, it’s to sample this delicacy! Luckily, there are many restaurants to choose from in Recco, with lots of pizzerias by the harbour. Also be sure to relax on the beach at Bagni Lido. The Ligurian Sea here is calm and beautiful, making it ideal for swimming.
Just 8km away is Camogli, another lovely coastal spot. This small town is great for hiking, with plenty of seaside trails to follow. One 30-minute trail takes you uphill through idyllic woodland to the pretty church of San Rocco. Visit Camogli on the second Sunday in May to experience the town’s famous fish festival.
Explore the sights of Portofino (22km) and potentially rub shoulders with celebrities as you take a tour of the town’s luxury shops and boutiques. There are plenty of old churches and fascinating museums to discover here too.
25km away is the port city of Genoa, with a rich maritime history that spans several centuries. Visit the Galata Maritime Museum to learn more about the city’s seafaring past, and the old town that’s home to the stunning Cattedrale di San Lorenzo.
Just over an hour’s drive away from the villa is the Cinque Terre; a series of five charming, seaside villages. They are probably the most-famous feature of the coastline in this part of Italy.

A wonderful holiday
We had a wonderful holiday at Casa Delle Rondini, thank you for your hospitality. The outside area was beautiful and the pool was perfect. We loved eating in the conservatory in the evening with great views all around. The house is comfortable, the kitchen was very well equipped with every kitchen utensil you could possibly need! The air conditioning in the main two bedrooms was much appreciated during the hot summer weather. We can highly recommend the villa and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Italy.
