Overview
Casa Campanula is a stylish farmhouse set in the rural countryside in northern Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. Surrounded by scenic terrain, it offers panoramic views of the hills and valley below.
Step inside its homey interior to experience the real essence of Italian countryside, with authentic touches throughout exuding an otherworldly feel. Each of the five bedrooms have been tastefully finished with tiled floors and wooden furniture, while one of the bedrooms is spread across two floors and benefits from a sloped ceiling with oak beams. The villa is ideal for those who wish to gather as a group or, for a little privacy from the rest of the house, parents might want to enjoy their meal at an adults-only table in one of the three dining areas. Just like the rest of the villa, the kitchen has been finished with time-honoured décor to make your stay look and feel like an idyllic Italian postcard.
Outside is a 2000m2 oasis of grassy lawns and greenery, inviting guests to soak up the sunshine and enjoy a home-cooked meal at the terrace. The stone structure of the outdoor barbecue also effortlessly complements the villa’s rustic façade. Hidden corners including a decked-out patio with a swinging chair and a paved area with sun loungers offer secret spots for a truly peaceful afternoon snooze. Children will love playing in the wooden house or swinging in the hammock nearby, and their laughter will serve as a constant reminder of how much fun they’re having.
The neighbouring green plains are where you’ll find the region’s purest pleasures. Set out on a hike through blooming meadows and bucolic backwaters and walk all the way to the Riserva Regionale Onferno – a natural park with a bat cave – or even further to discover a small castle Piandicastello. Whenever you get tired, simply spread out a picnic blanket in the grass or under a nearby tree – chances are you’ll be completely alone. The neighbouring village Gemmano is less than a 5-minute drive away and has a handy supermarket, two little bars and a scenic point with panoramic views.
After walking in the pristine landscape, you can easily cool down in the calm, turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea thanks to being so close to not just one, but three seaside resorts – Rimini, Riccione and Cattolica. Known for calm waters, golden sand and rows of colourful parasols lined next to each other like soldiers, the coastline comes with everything that should be included in a sun-soaked getaway.

Location
About the surrounding area of Casa CampanulaCasa Campanula is nestled in a sun-kissed position enveloped by rolling hills and tree-laden groves. Set within a short drive to a cluster of neighbouring villages, the residence’s unspoilt location ensures you can become at one with nature, without feeling completely isolated. Put on your walking shoes to explore the property’s surrounding botanical backdrop – there’s plenty of vantage spots where you can effortlessly unwind and refuel while admiring the secluded nirvana around.
The closest village Gemmano is just under a 5-minute drive away and boasts local amenities such as a small supermarket and bars.
A less than a 30-minute-long drive through snaking roads in the rural Italian countryside will take you to the centre of Riccione, a seaside town located on the Adriatic coast known for its vibrant party scene, water parks and beaches. Here you can find a honey-hued strip of sand and water perfect for swimming, as well as a tree-lined promenade with gelaterias and cafés. Although the town itself is worth exploring, don’t be shy to stop in charismatic restaurant-meets-deli places along the way to sample traditional dishes in swooningly romantic gardens where vines sprout up crumbling brick walls.
Travel a little bit further north to reach the centre of Rimini. The famed seaside resort’s long, sandy beach attracts crowds during summer, and there are theme parks nearby offering heaps of entertainment. The city is also dotted with ancient Roman and Renaissance monuments, museums and theatres, so your choices for a fun day out are almost limitless. In the evening, you can watch the ferris wheel light up in a kaleidoscope of colours as you stroll around the harbour.
Rimini’s shore stretches all the way down south to the next-door resort of Cattolica which houses the Aquarium of Cattolica – a large sea life centre with 100 tanks – as well as many trattorias and bars. From here, you’re only a short drive away from Parco Naturale Monte San Bartolo. The picturesque park was founded in 1994 and runs along the Adriatic Sea, offering breathtaking views and walking paths.
When aiming to explore the region’s inland beauty, head for San Marino – the capital of the Republic of San Marino, a small independent enclave framed by Italian territory. The city is perched atop rugged Mount Titano and is known for its mediaeval old town and cobblestone streets, as well as three watchtowers once forming part of the city’s defensive system.

Best Suited For: All Ages
Behind the fenced gardens of Casa Campanula lies a plethora of walking and cycling routes to suit all abilities which can take you all the way to the nearest village or the nearby castle-turned-history-museum Rock of Montefiore Conca. Elu e Genni is a popular hiking area which follows a path through blooming meadows and along the river Conca. Here you can spot wild animals, horses and even pick raspberries if visiting at the end of summer.
When you run out of ideas for last-minute trips, head to Grotte di Onferno – a beautiful cave that houses a large colony of bats. The cave, created by a stream running through a chalky cliff is 400 metres long and is full of tunnels you can walk through. When not visiting during the mating season, you can enter the spooky bat cave and witness thousands of eyes flickering in the dark.
If stories about blood-sucking vampires aren’t cool enough for teenagers and brave little ones, then a visit to the Misano World Circuit racetrack will surely get their pulses running. Only 25 minutes’ drive away, it has operated since 1972 and is the favourite spot of racing star Valentino Rossi. While you can often witness amateur races and training taking place here, there are also plenty of shops selling athleisurewear, souvenirs, food and drinks that make up the unique atmosphere.
A bit further away, Rimini, Riccione and Cattolica all benefit from a seaside location with beaches designated for swimming and catching ample sunrays. Keep tabs on your sandcastle-building children from a sun lounger or a terrace table within a few metres of the sea. Thanks to being a popular holiday destination for families, there are many water parks, inflatable amusement obstacles and facilities for children to enjoy, such as Italia in Miniatura, Riccione Avventura and Sunset Island. To escape the lunchtime heat, the Aquarium of Cattolica will lure little animal lovers inside with its 100 tanks and designated shark, stingray, otter and penguin feeding times.
