What Oliver loves…
- Views of the sparkling Aegean sea and proximity to the beach (one of the best in Rhodes!
- Private pool, resplendent gardens with dining space, expansive green lawns, table tennis and beach volley court
- Tranquil location close to a stunning range of amenities: churches, historical interest, lakes and water sports as well as local town life
Villa Hassia is a majestic, commanding home offering sedate opulence and tranquil serenity with both the privacy of an independent home and the convenience of a more extensive resort complex. This home is finessed with radiant style: chic white-washed exteriors with terracotta tiled roofs, in a nod to the local custom.
Stunning expansive lawns, pristinely finessed, framed with elegant palm trees and chic straw-hat style parasols shading the indulgent loungers. A glistening private pool is offset by a beautiful dining veranda, executed immaculately for al fresco meals. When illuminated at night, this home and luminescent pool cast a magical vision. Guests can enjoy a sumptuous breakfast after their morning swim, or a delicious evening barbecue with flowing local wines as the sun softens over the view.
All the modern touches are in place to ensure guest’s every comfort: satellite television, wifi and air conditioning while in contrast, the surroundings offer unadulterated rustic tranquillity - a gently undulating path leads from the verdant gardens, shrouded with trees, to the coastal road. For group meals, the gardens and outdoor dining space is sublime, while more intimate moments can be enjoyed on the beautiful balcony with its genteel loungers and bright, sparkling sea views.
The three storey, four bedroom home occupies a prestigious position, offering seclusion and privacy, with abundant space to roam and relax. The interiors are fresh, understated and home-like, providing an aura of low-key opulence and natural flow between indoor and outdoor living by the floor to ceiling glass doors.
When it comes to “downtime,” there are the large red sofas in the living space or a game of table tennis to be enjoyed; guests may also enjoy the beach volley court! Villa Hassia epitomises vibrant sea-side serenity and chic, contemporary style paired with architectural panache and exciting outdoor living potential with far reaching sea views!

Gennadi’s Blue Flag-flying beach is known as being one of the best on Rhodes. The mix of sand and beautiful pebbles ekes along the island’s southeast coast for around six kilometres.
Nestled about sixty kilometres south of Rhodes Town, Gennadi offers a taste of small-town Greek life; awash with the glistening coast; white washed houses and olive groves, as well as local tavernas offering rich Greek food.
For history buffs, the narrow streets lead to the magnificent Byzantine churches of Ioannis Theologos and Agia Anastasia which were built with the structural material from the wreckage of the Knights Tower. Nature lovers will enjoy the cluster of small lakes and green grasslands around Prassonisi (Green Island) which is fifteen kilometres away: ideal for keen surfers.
Whether it be water sports or visiting the islands, there are Medieval castle ruins, frescoed churches and a folklore museum at the lovely Asklipion. The local market in Lindos offers fresh vegetables and fish; an idea for picking up some tasty local delicacies or freshly caught fish for the barbecue.
The Acropolis, which Lindos is famous for, is one of Rhodes’ must-see sights. Whether it be walking to the top, or traditionally going by donkey, it is a beautiful ascent ending in the ancient fortress, thirteenth century Greek Orthodox church and Roman temple.
Rhodes offers something for everyone: dense forest mountains, long and sandy beaches, almost year-round sunshine and one of Europe’s most beautiful medieval towns; the walled Old Town of Rhodes has Unesco World Heritage Status with its sandstone architecture with minarets and cobbled streets.
Rhodes International Airport
Restaurants & Shops
Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands of Greece. It’s got a lot of history as it’s been invaded a lot by the Persians, Carians, Ottomans, Italians, and Germans.
Average temperatures go from 20’c in April up to 30’c in July/ August and down to 20’c in November. With an average of 85 rainy days a year they get sunshine for around 280 days.
The island is 90km long with Rhodes town at the northern tip. The airport (Rhodes International Airport "Diagoras") is also in the North (15km from Rhodes Town). Charter flights and Easyjet operate direct from the UK all season and out of season (Nov-March) you’d need to fly via Athens.
The Acropolis – The Acropolis that sits high above the town of Lindos is absolutely amazing and is a must see if you’re looking for some of the best views in all of Rhodes. One thing I should mention is that the climb up to the acropolis requires you to be somewhat active and able to climb stairs, lots of them. The trail begins through town and slowly but surely starts to get steeper as you climb the hill towards the acropolis. Once there, you’re rewarded with historical buildings dating back to 300 BC. Our Villa Corteau sit just underneath the ruins.
Rhodes has over 40 beaches, here are a few:
- Anthony Quinn’s Bay – Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the most beautiful bays. The bay is located 17km (10 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and offers some incredible photo opportunities to say the least.
- The beach at Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the best beaches in Rhodes. Get there early if you want to snag a sunbed and umbrella and enjoy wading around the bright blue and green water. Amazing!
- For the best views of Anthony Quinn’s Bay from above, head on up to the windy road that leads up the hill just north of the bay and you’ll find a spot where you can sit and enjoy the virtually 180 degree views of Rhodes and its coastline.
- Tsambika Beach (or Tsampika) – Tsampika beach is located 30km (18 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and is a great place to spend the day in the sun. Note: Beware there is a small section where nudists congregate on Tsampika beach
- Lakido Beach – Just opposite Anthony Quinn’s Bay is Lakido beach. It’s literally 3 minutes walking distance from Anthony Quinn’s bay so visiting both beaches in a day is totally doable. As a matter of fact, I would highly recommend visiting both if you get the chance
- Faliraki Beach – One of the most popular tourist spots on the island of Rhodes. It was known for 18-30’s holiday in the 90-2000’s but I don’t think there is that market so much now. It is quite commercialised now there are water sports and a few diving schools.
How to reach Rhodes island
There are two ways to reach Rhodes Island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: If you don’t want to lose time you can fly to Rhodes (RHO) from Athens. The flight lasts 1 hour. Many direct flights also operate from many European countries, so it will not be difficult to arrive there.
By ferry: If you choose to travel from Piraeus to Rhodes with a ferry, it will surely take you much longer but travelling with a ferry in the summer nights can be pretty enticing! The port of Rhodes is located in the southern part of the island and offers bus services to the town centre. You can easily book your ferry tickets using the link below or the booking engine.
Children of all ages will delight in this magnificent home with its long and shaded lawns, its ample terraces and verandas for al fresco meals, and its impressive array of entertainment options.
Whether it be a game of ping pong, a wander down to the beach, hours of splashy fun in the pool or some downtime curled up in front of satellite television, this home has it covered.
Rhodes’s coast is a very family friendly destination, with thirty miles of well-maintained golden-sand beaches with warm, shallow water, some of Europe’s biggest water parks - this is the place to perfect water sports skills!
For keen young historians, this region is rich with historical monuments, medieval preserved ruins, museums and frescoed churches as well as car-free alleyways and vibrant local market life.
