Overview
Prepare to be impressed when you stay in the exquisite Villa Petro, near the exclusive summer resort of Porto Heli, located on the Argolic Gulf of the south eastern coast of Greece. This stunning villa has eight bedrooms and five bathrooms arranged over three floors, and can comfortably accommodate up to fourteen guests, ideal for a large family gathering or friend’s sharing holiday.
Constructed of local stone in a classical style, with pillars that create natural shady porticoes, stylish terraces, and stunning seaview balconies. The villa is set in its own large grounds, which consists of two walled gardens for privacy, that are romantically illuminated after sunset. There is a well-manicured garden, populated with mature trees and shrubs, a large private swimming pool, and a stone pathway that leads to the back of the house with a potager plot that produces local fruits and vegetables, just ripe for the picking in season. Villa Petro has plenty of private parking space, and comes with complimentary Wi-Fi and air conditioning throughout. The villa has been lovingly furnished with hand crafted wooden furniture, and decorated with a neutral palette of crisp clean whites, with splashes of primary colour highlights. The exterior is grand and architecturally impressive, whilst the interior is warm, inviting, and cosy, with a real holiday home from home welcome.
Follow the stone path to the entrance of the villa, where double doors open onto a parquet hallway, that leads to a light and airy spacious open plan living area, with floor to ceiling windowed doors. The seating area has two large comfy white sofas, wooden coffee tables and book shelves, arranged around a flat screen LCD plasma television. The adjacent farmhouse-style long wooden dining table and matching chairs is ideal for some fabulous indoor entertaining.
A large traditional brown wood kitchen is equipped with all the mod cons you will need to cater for a happy holiday, including a built in oven and hob and microwave, a family size fridge, and a cool marble top preparation area, not to mention the obligatory morning coffee and tea makers. A vintage, yet modern bathroom completes the ground floor. An internal marble staircase leads to the first floor, where there are four bedrooms, all with views of the local countryside and beach. The master bedroom has a king size bed, wooden furniture, an ensuite bathroom with a twin hand basin, and walk in shower. The floor to ceiling doors lead out onto the balcony that connects to the other front bedroom, and offers beautiful views of the grounds and gardens. The second bedroom has a double bed, and a single French style day bed, suitable for a young child. Whilst the third bedroom has one single bed, fitted wardrobes, and a layette style bed for a small child, and a shower room. The fourth bedroom has a double bed, fitted wardrobe and a view to the back garden, it shares a bathroom with the second bedroom. There is a shared family bathroom with a walk in shower, hand basin, and a WC. A further four bedrooms can be found in the basement of the villa, three with double beds, wooden furniture, and natural light and ventilation from the cour anglaise windows. There are three bathrooms all with walk-in showers, hand basins, and WCs. There is a fourth bedroom sleeping three children on a bunkbed and a single bed, this has an ensuite bathroom. Take time out in the basement sitting room furnished with a brown three piece suite, a flat screen tv, and a small kitchen with a huge stainless steel family size fridge freezer, which can house all of your favourite refreshments.
You’ll be spending most of your holiday enjoying the gorgeous lush green gardens and paved terrace of the grounds of Villa Petro. The large ladder entry private swimming pool takes pride of place in front of the villa, in the centre of the well tendered lawns. The swimming pool is surrounded by inviting white cushioned sun loungers with matching shady parasols. Seek solace on the comfy white cushioned outdoor soft seating area, sit back and catch up with the latest best seller under the shady straw roofed permanent pergola. Concoct cocktails from the handy mini bar, serve and sip at any one of the comfy seating spots. Enjoy dining alfresco at the outside table and chairs, with food picked from the potager and prepared in the outdoor summer kitchen, then cooked on the built-in gas or charcoal rotisserie. Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThere’s lots to keep your younger ones occupied when you stay at Villa Petro, starting with the private swimming pool, where they can splash and play, and there’s no restricted hours when it’s your own. The villa has extensive gardens with lush green lawns, which is surrounded by walls, and tall trees, that give both shade and privacy, and your children can play safely all day. The pool and grounds are also lit up as soon as dusk falls, so a dip in the dark is a great treat too. Literally just across the road is the nearest sandy beach and the warm welcoming shallow waters on the Aegean Sea. The surrounding coastline is noted for its many family-friendly sandy beaches and fun water sport activities, not to mention beautiful bays and secret coves to explore. A stay in Villa Petro isn’t complete without a family fun day at sea, sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling, and eating mixed mezes and freshly caught fish all aboard the boat. Charter your own yacht, or join a shared trip for some family fun on the water. Work off that excess energy with one of the many walking and hiking trails, discover the areas’ natural flora and fauna, and see the local villages close up where they can learn about their traditions, and sample homemade produce, such a Greek honey, herbs, and cheeses. Saddle up and ride your pony at one of the local riding stables, where your children can have lessons, or trot across the sands and gallop in the sea. There’s a local paddle boat school, which offers introductory lessons for beginners, and for the more experienced they can take you out to sea to hone your skills. Poseidon Sports will teach your older kids water sports, where they can test their sea legs with a spot of windsurfing. The holiday town of Porto Heli is fabulous a family day out, with some souvenir shopping, and enjoying traditional Greek delicacies in child-friendly waterside tavernas. Venture further afield, and from the port of Costa take a ferry and explore the local area with a day of island hopping. Most notably the ancient island of Spetses is just across the sea, where you can take a horse drawn carriage to explore the local museums, churches and monasteries, harbours and lighthouses, beaches and bays. Every June there’s a yacht regatta, a mini marathon for children around the island is fabulous fun, and in September the Armata Festival re-enacts historical battles. After a day of activity gather the family together to watch a film under the stars at the open-air cinema in Porto Heli.
