Overview

Pool Villa/House Modern Self-Catered Ideal for Kids Walk to Village

Vacation with a vista when you holiday in Villa Tourlos View, overlooking the northeast coast of the exclusive island of Mykonos in the heart of the Greek Aegean Sea. This charming loggia style villa has two ensuite bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to six guests, perfect for a family or a couple of friends sharing. The villa benefits from sitting atop of the town, with sweeping panoramic views across the azure waters of the Aegean Sea. Villa Tourlos View is built on a single storey with classic Cycladic whitewashed walls, and a local stone surround. The villa has a splendid tiled terrace with a private infinity swimming pool and stunning sea views. The property has on-road parking and comes complete with complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. The interiors are decidedly modern, with contemporary furniture, and decorated with a palette of crisp clean white, and muted shades of grey and beige, with pastel colour highlights.

Access the property through a stone arch, and enter the villa to discover a light and airy holiday home. The sitting room has a soft blue sofa and a pale pink armchair, arranged around coffee and side tables, facing a flat-screen smart television, and French doors that lead out onto the pool terrace. There is a dining set just made for indoor entertaining, and doors that open onto the terrace. The slate grey kitchen is fully equipped with all of the appliances you will need to cater for your holiday, including a fridge freezer, built-in oven and hob, a dishwasher and that must-have morning coffee maker. There are two beautifully appointed spacious white and grey bedrooms, each with a double bed, an open wardrobe, a dressing table, and a sofa bed for guests. Double doors open straight onto the terrace, perfect to slip straight out of bed and into the pool for a morning swim. Both bedrooms have large ensuite grey and white state-of-the-art bathrooms, with walk-in showers, hand basins, and WCs.

The tiled sea view terrace has a step-entry infinity swimming pool as the star of the show. The pool has an inset for two sun loungers, relax and dip your toes in the cooling water as you bathe in the rays, catching up with this year’s best seller. Huge fat double and single grey cushion sun loungers and pouffes surround the pool, lie back and enjoy the view of the boats sailing by. As the sun sets meet on the terrace for sundowners, before feasting alfresco at the eight-seater dining set, and the stars begin to twinkle over Mykonos town.

Villa Tourlos View is located on the hillside of the village of Tourlos, on the jet-set island of Mykonos, part of the Cyclades, in the heart of the Aegean Sea. The exclusive island of Mykonos measures only ten kilometres long by fifteen kilometres wide, so wherever you want to go it’s only a short drive away. The villa is just six kilometres from Mykonos airport, which is served by both local and international flight operators. If you are island hopping, then nearby Naxos and Syros also have their own airports.

The coastal village of Tourlos is on the North East side of the island, and is fabulously cosmopolitan, with celebrity-spotting seafront bars and traditional tavernas, and local mini-marts to cater for all your holiday catering. The coastline is populated with many beautiful golden sandy beaches, take your pick from nearby Tourlos to the family-friendly favourite of Agios Stephanos, or party, party, party all day long on hedonistic Paradise Beach, with its crystal clear waters, restaurants, bars, and clubs with resident DJs. During daylight hours play penance in one of the eight hundred churches that populate the island, most notably Paraportiani, which is a unique construction combining four styles of architecture, or nearby the church of St George Spilinnos, uniquely built into the cavity of the rocks.

Take a visit to Mykonos old town, known locally as Chora, only five kilometres from the villa. Here you can wander the maze of streets with the colourful Cycladic houses, and do some serious designer shopping in one of the many luxury label boutiques. Choose a table at a seafront restaurant and enjoy a dish of freshly caught seafood, whilst sipping ouzo, and watching the beautiful people pass by. Find out the island’s history and culture at the Archaeological Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Maritime Museum, and go out slightly of town to Lena’s House to discover how the islanders lived. Take a walk up to the landmark windmills, or as they are known locally, Kato Mili, where once the wheat was ground to make bread, and is now a mini museum and residencies. Walk along the waterfront to Little Venice, where the original and colourful merchant houses overhang the sea, and is now home to cafes, bars, restaurants, and galleries, best enjoyed as the sun sets with a retsina or two. Admire the Armenistis lighthouse, still fully functioning and an essential asset of Mykonos’ maritime history.

No visit to Mykonos is complete without a day at sea, join a catamaran jolly and snorkel in the sea, or charter your own yacht complete with a captain, and discover secret coves and hidden bays and beaches. For the romantics, nothing beats a sunset cruise, cocktail in hand as the sun sets over the horizon. Hop aboard a ferry for a day trip to the adjacent island of Tinos, visit the landmark Renaissance-style Church of Panagia Evangelistria, tilt at windmills, visit the fifty villages, walk the ancient fortifications, and coo at the famous dovecotes. Further afield the uninhabited island of Delos is well worth a visit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, go with a group or arrange your own private tour. And of course, you can always island hop from the new port of Mykonos, where the Aegean Sea is your oyster.

Getting There

How to reach Mykonos island

There are two ways to reach Mykonos Island: either by flight or by ferry.

By plane: Due to the popularity of this island local and charter flights for Mykonos (JMK) are frequent. The airport is located just 2 km outside the town.

By ferry: Ferries to Mykonos New Port (JMK), in the Tourlos area, depart from Piraeus port everyday with great frequency in order to service the great number of travelers. The trip usually lasts from 2 to 6 hours but it gives the possibility to admire other Greek islands while on your way. You can easily book your ferry tickets using the link below or the booking engine.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Your kids will just love a holiday on the island of Mykonos, and there’s a surprising number of fun and family activities to keep them amused. Starting with the villa’s private step-entry swimming pool, and as there are no set hours they can play and splash all day. The villa is a short drive to the soft sands of  Tourlos Beach, which is situated near the harbour, and a  great place to spot ferries, motor boats and super yachts. The coastline of Mykonos is dotted with family-friendly beaches, many of which you can book ahead. We particularly recommend nearby Agios Stefanos Beach, with organised pre-bookable sun loungers and parasols, cafes, bars, mini-marts, and shallow entry calm seas, protected from the northerly winds. Your little daredevils can enjoy a selection of water sports, from fun rides to daring speed boats. Room Anastasia Beach is a bit further north, a family-friendly beach in a beautiful bay, with wooden sun beds and shady straw parasols.

Your younger children may enjoy a visit to the Animal Organic Farm, where they can pet and feed the livestock, harvest seasonal crops, enjoy some time in nature, and keep themselves busy with some farming tasks. Whilst your older kids could take a hike over the island’s landscape, exploring the local flora and fauna, ending with a cooling dip in the sea. All the family will love a day at sea, whether it is island hopping aboard a shared Catamaran, or chartering a private yacht and discovering secret coves and hidden bays and beaches, swimming and snorkelling spotting friendly fish. For the thrill seekers, fasten your seatbelts on the Mykonos Rib boat, which whizzes around the island. Keep the creatives happy with a mosaic workshop, or a family cooking lesson with a local chef teaching you all to make traditional Greek meze.

A trip to Mykonos old town is a must and only five kilometres from the villa. Wander the winding streets, shop for souvenirs, meet Petros the Pelican, the mascot of Mykonos, and then enjoy a family-friendly meal in a seaside taverna. For your intellectually curious offspring, there’s the Archaeological Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Folk Museum, and Lena’s House, all within walking distance of the old town. A short walk along the seafront will take you to Little Venice, a pirate’s paradise of a maze of streets with colourful houses overhanging the sea. Tilt at windmills at the top of the town, the landmark of Mykonos, where they used to grind wheat and make bread for the islanders, now a mini museum and some are even residencies.

The Lighthouse of Mykonos is seven kilometres northeast of the town, and well worth a visit for the stunning sea views of the island of Tinos, and to watch the boats arriving and departing from the harbour. Who would have thought it, but Mykonos is home to the best Go-Kart track in Greece, open every day from April until November from 10 am until 2 am in the morning, which should keep them occupied all day. For those who prefer a more natural form of transport, they can mount a pony and go horseback riding in Ano Mera. If you want to venture further afield, a trip to the adjacent island of Delos is a delight, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, Apollo and Artemis, cross the water by private charter or a shared tour for a fabulous family day out.
