If you shut your eyes and think of Mykonos, you will picture beautifully simplistic dazzling white architecture, brilliant blue skies, gorgeous honey-coloured stone and turquoise waters. Villa Jase offers the ultimate in all of those. It is a sensational property, seemingly effortlessly built into the rocks in Agios Ioannis Diakoftis with sublime sea views looking out to mesmerising islands of Delos and Rhenia. With nine bedrooms in total and gorgeous living space, not to mention the terrace of your dreams, Villa Jase is the perfect property for large groups of guests.

Agios Ioannis Diakoftis is a fabulous location, just minutes from the beating heart of this ever popular island and the superb beaches of Ornos, Psarrou and Agios Ioannis. It was named after a small chapel standing above it and is famous for being the filming location of the award-winning film ‘Shirley Valentine’ in 1989 before Mykonos became the hot spot destination it is today. Very close to the villa, the sheltered Ornos Beach is one of the island’s trendiest with crystal clear water, plenty of watersports, loungers, umbrellas, beach bars and restaurants. There is a daily boat service to other beaches on the island including Psarou, Elia, Agari and Super Paradise as well as buses that go to Mykonos Town.

Villa Jase has been built with the traditional Mykonian dazzling white render and curved edges and gorgeous honey-coloured natural stone walls. It looks amazing against its rocky location with intermittent splashes of greenery. It is a sprawling property with bedrooms in guest houses as well as the main villa. The terraces are truly magnificent with a fantastic infinity swimming pool being the perfect place to swim with a view, stunning shaded alfresco lounge and dining spaces and trendy luxury day beds where you can relax, listen to the soothing sounds of the sea and be mesmerised by the breathtaking views. A sunset swim and a cocktail is the perfect way to celebrate this magical place. The guest houses enjoy their own furnished outdoor spaces.

The living area of Villa Jase is equally captivating with its gently curved dazzling white walls being the canvas for some meticulously curated design items. The main living space comes with two sumptuous corner sofas adorned with tasteful scatter cushions in white and blue, beautiful coffee tables in wood and concrete, unique lamps incorporating artistic wood elements, loungers that you wouldn’t dream of seating on as they are perfect art specimens, a beautiful wood and glass circular dining table and the occasional bright colour splash. Villa Jase’s whitewashed multiple levels have been so cleverly united with handcrafted woods. The kitchen is a modern wonder with every appliance you would hope for, leading directly to your alfresco dining area.

The master bedroom sits on the upper level with breathtaking sea views out to the picturesque islands of Delos and Rhenia. It enjoys a sumptuous king size bed, beautifully adorned with crisp cottons, an en suite bathroom with a shower and a thoroughly romantic ambience. Another double room keeps it company, also with an en suite shower room and terrace access with stunning views. On the lower level, you will discover a very special double room with an en suite bathroom, a private entrance and a glass window looking into the swimming pool. It is an amazing feature where you might wake up to enjoy watching your children diving deep into the water.

The remaining six bedrooms are all located in guest houses, dreamy spaces with wonderful design features. They all enjoy immaculate, stylish shower rooms and all but one come with king size beds and terrace views out to sea. The last offers a double bed and another viewing window into the pool. They are beautifully appointed and enjoy gorgeous furnishings inside and out. They are perfect for a little private time.

Villa Jase enjoys a superb position looking out to the dreamy Delos and Rhenia islands from Agios Ioannis Diakoftis. It is a heavenly picture where the blues of the infinity pool, the sea and the sky all merge into a beautiful collage. Agios Ioannis Diakoftis was where ‘Shirley Valentine’ was filmed all those years ago. It is one of the quieter beaches but very close to the lively capital and the trendy Ornos Beach. Sitting in the southwestern corner of this lovely island, Ornos Beach is the closest to the capital so is very popular with buses making the journey very easy. It offers a diving school as well as waterskiing and windsurfing instruction. There are plenty of beach bars and fab restaurants.

It can get very busy so you can also walk to the quieter Agios Ioannis and Kapari beaches. Other popular beaches include Kalo Livadi which is set in a valley sprinkled with sugar cubed homes. It comes with a stunning long ribbon of sand, sun loungers and straw umbrellas and some excellent watersports. With a laid-back atmosphere, it is great for a relaxed beach day. Elia, Psarou, Paraga, Paradise, Kalafatis and Plati Gialos are all firm favourites. Elia Beach, on the south coast of the island, boasts Mykonos’ longest sweep of sand. The rainbow flag at the end of the beach marks its LGBT stretch of sand. Paradise Beach and Super Paradise Beaches, also on the south coast, are the home of some of the island’s most famous nightclubs.

Mykonos certainly adds a touch of glamour to the Greek Islands, competing with the likes of Ibiza. This wonderful island is brimming with gorgeous white sandy beaches, most offering buzzy beach bars and watersports. It also boasts a long list of nightclubs, a wonderful array of fine dining restaurants, vibrant cocktail bars, classy boutiques and charming whitewashed villages. It is little wonder that Mykonos is a celebrity hot spot.

You should definitely visit the lovely Ano Mera while on holiday. Sitting almost in the heart of the island, this picturesque village offers classical Cycladic beauty, quaint narrow streets, traditional tavernas, unique shops and its famous monastery of Panagia Tourliani. The monastery was built in the 15th century and is one of the main attractions of the whole island. Ano Mera’s main square is pedestrianised and surrounded by charming cafes and tavernas that are renowned for their excellent Mykonian meats cooked on the spit and barbecue. You will also discover the ‘Kopanisti’ workshop where the local delicious spicy cheese is made.

You can either drive or take a bus to Mykonos Town, the island’s capital. It boasts an enchanting warren of spidery, narrow lanes covered in bougainvillea. Lavished with picturesque churches, quirky art galleries, chic boutiques, jewellery shops and charming restaurants, visitors love an afternoon meander. The town’s museums, the Archaeological Museum and the Aegean Maritime Museum are worth a stop. The ethereal beauty of Little Venice is a favourite haunt of highly acclaimed artists and Instagram followers. It is one of the most romantic places on the island with elegant old houses sitting on the edge of the sea creating a magical aura and an abundance of buzzy bars.

Tourlos is located on the north side of the island, just 2.5km from Mykonos Town. It enjoys a magnificent port, a stop for many cruise ships, and a smart harbour. The houses are freshly painted with colourful shutters and draped in vibrant bougainvillea and other pretty flowers. Many celebrities have chosen to build luxury villas here. The Chapel of St George Spilianos, north of the harbour, is delightful. It is built into the cavity of a rock with a lovely ambience and where you can light a candle. Tourlos boasts a magical, organised beach with watersports.

Best Suited For: All Ages

Villa Jase is fantastic for large groups of guests. You do need to consider the layout of the bedrooms though as six are in guest houses with their own entrances. There are three in the main villa which is where you should have young children. Older children will be heaven to have their own guest house. The terrace is amazing with an infinity swimming pool and shaded alfresco lounge and dining spaces which are ideal for games of cards or board games.

There are so many wonderful beaches on the island to explore. Ornos is beautiful and one of the favourites. It is perfect for windsurfing and lots of other watersports. Kalo Livadi Beach offers shimmering, crystal-clear water and an amazing view of the Aegean archipelago. Agrari Beach is ideal for children who enjoy the small playground as well as the crystal clear water. Other family-friendly, popular beaches are Kalafatis and Platys Gialos.

Mykonos Town is lovely and you should not miss it. The Folklore Museum shows you how people used to live, work and dress in the 19th century in Mykonos. The Archaeological Museum has a fascinating collection of jewellery, figurines, statues and pottery and the Aegean Maritime Museum is home to many ancient nautical instruments and vessels. Children love buying a few souvenirs from the shops. Mykonos Town has the densest concentration of dining options with anything from upmarket fusion to authentic Italian pasta, a favourite with children to traditional Greek tavernas and ice cream parlours.

There are many boat trips from the harbours and water taxis. You can take water taxis from the beaches or take a boat trip from Mykonos Town’s harbour to explore the coastline or snorkel. The sacred island of Delos is high on the list for day trips for families. Delos is the birthplace of the mythological twins of Zeus and Leto, Apollo and Artemis. Another possibility is to take a family cooking lesson creating some traditional Greek dishes. With the local chef, your children will leave more about life on Mykonos, its history, its people and its delicious fresh food.

The windmills of Mykonos are positioned in the western part of the island serving as a remembrance of the island’s wheat and bread industry. They are a great place for photographs and are especially popular at sunset.
