Villa Phala is one of three newly-built, luxury villas in the Falasarna Luxury Villas development overlooking the glorious Falasarna beach on the northwestern coast of Crete. With five stunning bedrooms, the villa sleeps up to twelve guests and is ideal for a large family or a group of friends.
The villas combine modern and traditional architecture in a brilliant way and are inspired by elements of the sea with fantastic use of stone and wood. The design of Villa Phala ensures the most breathtaking views towards Falasarna Bay from the terraces, balconies and the full wall glass windows and doors.
Falasarna beach is located 59km west of the beautiful Chania city and 17km west of Kissamos, at the western base of the stunning Cape Gramvousa. The beach has been voted as one of the 10 best beaches in Europe in the past. Also close are the sensational Balos and Elafonisi beaches which adorn many posters advertising Crete.
Villa Phala sits on the hillside amongst beautiful olive trees. The terrace is spectacular with a fabulous, heated infinity pool and a delightful outdoor lounge and dining area. The canopy is as beautiful as the outdoor furniture. The views are to die for. It is such a lovely relaxing space to have a few drinks and alfresco dinner watching the gorgeous sunsets.
The open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is sensational and flows so well. Again the full wall of glass doors offers guests those constant ravishing views. The ambience is wonderful with the neutral, elegant décor using grey and stone tones complimented by the blue splashes of the sea. The beamed wooden ceilings and stone walls are so inviting and warm the heart. The living space flows beautifully to another relaxation area. A comfy sofa faces the sea and is a great place to read your holiday book. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor with its fantastic, modern ensuite bathroom.
On the first floor, all four immaculate bedrooms have a furnished balcony with stunning sea views and gorgeous ensuite bathrooms. Everything about Villa Phala is beautiful, the design, the quality furniture and fittings, the colour schemes, the views, the terrace and balconies. You might not actually want to leave the villa though you would miss out on the spectacular beaches and restaurants.

What you should know…
- Those travelling in groups of 12 should note that two guests will need to make use of the living room sofa beds
- While the villa has an excellent position, we recommend hiring a car

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa PhalaFalasarna Bay actually consists of five consecutive dazzling, silver-sanded beaches. It is huge as well as gorgeous and has such a dazzling, clear, turquoise blue sea. At the northern end of the beach, there are ruins of the ancient Greco-Roman city of Falasarna. There are several companies offering watersports, including Falassarna Activities. You could learn to wakeboard or jet ski.
Balos Lagoon beach is absolutely stunning and one of the most photographed beaches in Greece. The lagoon of Balos has silvery-white sand and exotic, white, vivid blue and turquoise waters. The sea is very shallow and warm. Beyond the rocks at the boundaries of the lagoon, the water is deeper and ideal for snorkelling. The lagoon and wider area with rare species of flora and fauna are protected under the Natura 2000 programme. Eleonora falcons, shags and cormorants nest in the caves and the area is a shelter for protected monk seal and loggerhead sea turtle. You will think you are in the Maldives or somewhere as it is so beautiful. Make sure you take drinks and a snack though as otherwise, you can only buy these from the ferries. Balos can be reached by car, though be prepared for a bumpy ride or you can take a boat trip to the beach. North of Balos, in Cape Korykon, there are remains of the small Roman town of Agnio with the temple of Apollo and the picturesque chapel of Agios Sostis.
Elafonisi is also a magical place that consists of a small islet with white and pink sandy beaches. Visitors can wade out to the island to enter another world. The island is an internationally classified nature reserve and home to more than 100 rare plants including summer flowering sea daffodils that look like white cups. The island is a nature lovers paradise. To the left of the sandbank, windsurfers enjoy the prevailing winds.
Chania Town is so charming and picturesque. It is great fun to wander through the market stalls and stop for a few drinks at the many bars. The Venetian harbour, old port, narrow shopping streets and waterfront restaurants make this a top-notch evening out. There are some fantastic, atmospheric restaurants, some roof-top and others in the narrow lanes. The sunsets are breathtaking with the Venetian lighthouse a focal point. You can walk along the harbour wall to the lighthouse.
Samaria Gorge is the longest gorge in Europe at 16km which would take roughly 6 hours to pass along the whole gorge. Otherwise, you can drive to Chora Sfakion and take a boat to Agia Roumeli and walk a few kilometres at the end of the gorge. The Imbros gorge close by is also very beautiful and takes approximately 2 hours. You can combine this walk with swimming in Fragokastelo beach.

How to reach Chania
There are two ways to reach Chania: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: Chania Airport (CHQ) is only a 20 minutes ride away from central Chania. During the summer months, frequents overseas and domestic flights are performed. In most of the cases, there are available buses that connect Chania city and most of the villas. You can also hire a car from one of the many rental companies at the airport, or alternatively get a taxi to bring you right to your doorstep.
By ferry: If you choose to do an island-hopping trip and use the ferry as a method of transportation, then the closest port is in Souda, only 8km from the centre of Chania. Only ferries from Piraeus in Athens or Heraklion in Crete. Heraklion port has a wider choice: you can also take a ferry from other Greek islands like Santorini, Mykonos or Paros, but you will have to take a longer bus ride to reach your villa. You can easily book your ferry tickets using the link below or the booking engine.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesChildren will adore the beaches of Falasarna, Elafonisi and Balos. There is no shade in some places such as the island at Elafonisi so you need to be prepared. The beaches are absolutely stunning, and some have watersports to enjoy. There are several surf schools, including Kalo Surf at Kissamos and opportunities to learn to stand-up paddleboard. Also at Kissamos, you can take many boat trips, either to Balos or just to enjoy swimming and snorkelling in the clear blue water.
Although Rethymno is the third-largest town in Crete, it does not feel like Chania and Heraklion. It has a provincial air, and everything moves slowly. Children will enjoy Rethymno’s Venetian fortress built in 1573 and the playgrounds of the municipal park. The fortress dominates the city and makes Rethymno very photogenic, especially with all the pedestrian streets and charming old buildings below.
28km west of Rethymno is the Kournas Lake, 4km from Georgioupolis. It is very beautiful, surrounded by the White Mountains and is a great place for a picnic if you want a change from the beaches. There are restaurants and cafes along the edge and paddleboats to rent for children.
Active children may enjoy mountain biking or hiking in some of the gorges. You can also take a little train tour from Agia Marina to Theriso through the gorges of Theriso. Children will probably be amused by the goats everywhere too.
Chania Town is a great place for families. Minoan’s World of 3D Museum and 9D Cinema is an immersive cinema where you can learn about the Minoan history while enjoying 11 effects such as earthquakes, snow and much more. The movie stars Zeus as a baby and as a God, abductions, flying too close to the sun and an eruption of the volcano in Santorini, causing a devastating tsunami that ended the Minoan era. Limnoupolis is a fun water park close to Chania.
