Overview
Located just five minutes from Koutalas Beach, the spacious Villa Peristeri offers peace and quiet with no neighbours in the immediate area. East of Kokkino Chorio, the villa is a great base from which to discover northern Crete, with Chania around 40 minutes’ drive away. You can enjoy the use of a heated pool and hot tub among many more facilities.
The extensive outdoor space at Villa Peristeri gives everyone room to do their thing. You will find a barbecue area, a soccer field, sun terrace, children’s playground, pool table and a variety of seating and dining areas, in addition to the hot tub and the centrally positioned pool. The beautifully green surroundings add to the sense of space and privacy, and you can enjoy these areas day and night without worrying about disturbing anybody.
The accommodation is comprised of two villas. The first has four bedrooms, while the second is a more intimate affair with one bedroom and a loft. The total capacity is therefore 12, but there is scope to accommodate up to four more people on sofa-beds, and even a couple of extra children on single beds. Both of the villas are wheelchair accessible.
Rustic meets modern inside, with attractively furnished areas throughout the house. Multiple dining areas make this a great place to entertain your friends, while the en suite bathrooms have a romantic feel. An upper terrace overlooks the pool and is a lovely spot to enjoy a drink before bedtime.
All sorts of events and activities can be arranged for you during your stay. Whether you need the services of a chef or masseuse, babysitting, breakfasts or even a birthday party, virtually anything is possible. Weddings and other large events can also be held at the villa.
Kokkino Chorio has coastal favourites like the Elephant Cave and Zeus Bay within reach, with a boat trip along the coast the best way to discover them. Towards Chania, you can also enjoy days out at attractions like the Botanic Gardens of Crete and the popular Aqua Creta water-park.
What you should know…
- Some of the rooms, and a ground floor bathroom, are wheelchair accessible. The garden is also accessible, with paths to the pool and hot tub among other areas.
- Services such as catering and massage will incur additional costs.
- The 6th 'bedroom' is actually a loft area, with slanted ceiling accessed from anothre bedroom -see photographs
- There are beds/ sofabeds for 16 but two extra beds can be added to make 18

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa PeristeriKnown for its Venetian harbour and striking lighthouse, Chania is the jewel of Crete’s north coast. Iconic landmarks like its Ottoman Baths make Chania incredibly photogenic, and exploring the Old Town and dining on the restaurant terraces are sure to be part of your visit. While you’re there, you will probably want to throw in a boat trip too. Various tours showing off the beautiful Cretan coastline are easy to find.
Several beaches are within walking distance of the city, and many more are not too much further. Golden Beach and Neo Chora are family-friendly but sometimes busy. Some of the island’s best requires a longer drive, but are well worth it – Balos, around 60km from Chania, is one such gem.
In town, you will find museums dedicated to archaeology and local folklore, and there’s a maritime museum down by the water – walk along the seawall to the Venetian Lighthouse and experience some of Chania’s most striking views.
The Crete Botanic Park and Gardens sit beneath the White Mountains just outside the town. Wandering through the park filled with exotic flowers and herbs is a sensory experience. Other notable sights include an impressive trio of monasteries on the Akritori Peninsula, Agia Triada. If you are looking for something high-energy, the Aqua Creta water-park at Limnoupolis should do the trick; Chania also offers plenty of nightlife.
Crete is perhaps surprisingly large for an island – it could take you more than five hours to drive across it. North to south is considerably quicker, and it should only take about an hour to reach the wonderful Samaria Gorge, a picturesque area ideal for walking and hiking. The island’s wonderful scenery can also be enjoyed via a guided tour, many of which also cover local crafts – you may get to see how products like olive oil, honey or Cretan wine are produced.

How to reach Chania
There are two ways to reach Chania: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: Chania Airport (CHQ) is only a 20 minutes ride away from central Chania. During the summer months, frequents overseas and domestic flights are performed. In most of the cases, there are available buses that connect Chania city and most of the villas. You can also hire a car from one of the many rental companies at the airport, or alternatively get a taxi to bring you right to your doorstep.
By ferry: If you choose to do an island-hopping trip and use the ferry as a method of transportation, then the closest port is in Souda, only 8km from the centre of Chania. Only ferries from Piraeus in Athens or Heraklion in Crete. Heraklion port has a wider choice: you can also take a ferry from other Greek islands like Santorini, Mykonos or Paros, but you will have to take a longer bus ride to reach your villa. Best Suited For: All AgesThis villa is so well-equipped, it would be impossible for anyone to claim they had nothing to do. A big swimming pool is just the start, with a football pitch, children’s playground and a chilled sun terrace all part of the deal. At just five minutes from the beach, Villa Peristeri is well-located too, and offers yet more still – there’s a ping pong table, satellite TV, pool table and Wi-Fi, plus a top-of-the-range hot tub and barbecue.
That sounds like a lot of fun, and there is more to enjoy around the Chania area. The Aqua Creta water-park has big slides and pools to get soaking wet in, while the Botanic Gardens of Crete are super-relaxing and a delight for the senses.
There is a lot more in Chania, including loads of places to dine down by the water, a 3D museum and boat tours galore – a glass-bottomed craft is the way to see the local marine life up close. Crete is a long island from east to west, but if you are willing to travel a couple of hours you could also visit Dinosauria Park – fans of the prehistoric beasts are sure to want to.

Great choice
Perfect property with everything needed for a big family to be together (also during the heat wave). Hosts were great! pool and amusements were great! rooms are comfortable well equipped and clean. The small house is very good for family with small children. We were with teens so it was a bit crowded.

Great time
We had a great time in the house! It's a bit outside so we needed a car but we spent much of our stay around the house. Many activities were by the house such as football, billiards and ping pong which we appreciated. Crete was also a very nice island where there were several beaches if you would like to go between 15-30 min by car.

Fab Stay
Our stay at Villa Peristeri was absolutely fabulous. Such a gorgeous property and had everything we needed for an epic Crete holiday. The caretaker was very responsive, check-in was smooth, and the house was perfect. Amazing view and the amenities were great. They even left a welcome pack that had all the basics you could need for a week. I would 100% recommend to anyone going to Crete with a larger group

Absolutely quiet location
Villa is really in the middle of nowhere. Nearest neighbour about 400m away. Stayed with 14 people and was really relaxing. Absolute peace is guaranteed here, if you do not want to eat the cigars, but you have them everywhere in Crete. House is well-equipped, was modern and left nothing to be desired. But you definitely need a car at the house. There is a small super market (local supermarket - highly recommended) and a small tavern within 5 minutes by car. On the whole, however, this is actually a self-catering place. For long tours, in our opinion, the way is too tedious. But I also think that is what is planned in this house. If you want complete peace and no neighbours and just want to relax, you are in the right place here! Housekeepers or administrators also very nice and always available. My recommendation!

Absolutely stunning villa in the wilderness
Absolutely beautiful villa, gorgeous views, lovely amenities, owner very friendly and kind, they left a welcome hamper when we arrived. Every last detail had been thought of. Lovely garden with different areas. Really really recommended .. oh and having a car is a must in our opinion.
We didn't mind so much but there are a lot of bees and other wildlife within the area of the villa. People should be made to know this before booking. That being said... It's a perfect location amidst the nature

The location was lovely, secluded and pastoral, with a beautiful view of the mountains and the sea. The villa itself was very comfortable and well equipped, and the surrounding grounds were great, with the pool, jacuzzi, mini soccer field and more.
Wish we could have stayed longer!
