A classic French farmhouse, the property has been thoughtfully designed with contemporary décor and modern amenities. Four plush bedrooms, spacious living and dining areas, and a cozy reading area are warmly inviting, while sunny terraces, a BBQ grill, and the large heated pool will keep the sun worshipers satisfied.
The farmhouse is a special treat for nature lovers - with wildflower-filled meadows, beautiful gardens, and woodlands brimming with local wildlife. Catch a nap or picnic under shady willows by the pond, or share some wine beneath the stars from the upper balcony with panoramic views.
Nalliers is the nearest village at 2 km away, with the town of St Savin at 5 km, where you can peruse local markets, sip cappuccinos in the cafes, or even fish off the banks of river. There’s also an abundance of medieval towns, prehistoric caves, and castles to explore throughout the region – all within short driving distance from this rural retreat in central France.

Set in 32 acres of woodland, meadows and gardens, we offer complete privacy for you and your family.
The gardens are colourful and casual with tulips, wild narcissi, cosmos, roses, lillies, camelias, lavender and lilacs. Filling the garden with a beautiful scent.
Eating outside during the day is a must. There is a purpose built BBQ, outside tables and chairs tucked under the shade of the sumach trees.
We take great pride in our 5m x 10m heated pool (depth: 1.2 -2.5 m) which is perfectly located just to the side of the main house. The pool is surrounded by a natural stone walls on 3 sides and security fenced on the fourth. The pool is heated and maintained each week to a high standard.
There are large terraces affording plenty of room for sunbathing and relaxing. Guest can take advantage of the comfortable pool side sun lounge chairs. Moreover, there is always plenty of shade around the pool if required.
Each guest is given keys to the security gates, thus enabling peace of mind for children and all visitors.

Manoir de Trebuchet is set in a truly delightful area in Central France close to the border of The Vienne, approximately 2 kms from the village of Nalliers and 4 kms from the town of St Savin, St Savin is a super old town set around a beautiful tree lined square with bars and cafes. The Abbey provides one side of the square and is a great place to visit. The river runs behind the abbey with great paths to walk and cycle on.
The outstanding countryside is completely unspoiled, with a beautiful mix of wild flowers and unusual vegetation. Roaming herds of deer are common, as are wild boar - but these can prove a little harder to spot!
Montmorillon - Approximately 10 miles away is a beautiful Medieval town set on the banks of the river with an excellent a weekly local market, ancient buildings, restaurants, cafes, bars, banks and supermarkets.
For those staying a fortnight, there is a superb weekly market in the beautiful town of Chauvigny that we highly recommending you visiting.
There is a diverse selection of local hotels, small town bars, cafes and markets in the local towns of villages and towns of St. Savin, Nalliers, Montmorillon and Angles Sur L'Anglin.
The award winning 'Fleuri Village de France' of Angles Sur L'Anglin is a must see with its beautiful cobbled streets, antique shops, towering castle ruins, prehistoric caves, friendly restaurants with superb views across the river and so much more.
With Medieval towns, beautiful villages tumbling into local rivers, local markets full of fresh produce, Chateaux, Cathedrals and so much more, there really is something for everyone!
Manoir de Trebuchet is surrounded by nature. Guests can see herds of deer, rare butterflies, fireflies, humming birds, eagles, barn owls, wild boar - along with much more!

There are many activities nearby that make for super fun days out for the whole family such as kayaking on the local rivers, cycling directly from the property (this has proved incredibly popular with children and families, with mountain bikes, there is no need to ever touch a road). A horse riding centre with ponies is available just 2kms from the property. The Futuroscope in Poitiers is a further superb day trip option as are the eagle displays and the velo rail in Chauvigny.

A) Single Meal Service: A chef will travel to this villa and whip up a fantastic meal for you and your guests. The chef will arrive with all the necessary ingredients as well as the talent to turn them into something unforgettable. They’ll serve the meal and clear up afterwards - an easy and entertaining way to enjoy a top quality meal in your very own villa!
B) Full Chef Service: If you really want to kick back and relax, we can arrange for a chef to cater for the duration of your holiday (or part of it). With a range of options from simple family catering to full-on haute cuisine, we can organise a meal plan and a price to suit your needs. So why worry about self-catering when you can have everything taken care of?

- The number of people staying at the property must not exceed those on your booking form.
- We will adhere to all refuse notes in the house.
- No motorised quads, bikes, scramblers etc are allowed on the property
- Any breakages should be reported and we reserve the right to charge for any non-trivial damage.
- The use of accommodation and amenities is entirely at the Hirer’s risk and no responsibility can be accepted for injury, loss or damage to the Hirer or the Hirer’s companions or guests.
- Some upstairs windows are traditionally low, please keep locked with young children.
- Gardening/lawn maintenance will occasionally be undertaken during guests stay
- There is no land line, please ensure you have a mobile phone with you.
- This is a rural property – please expect wildlife, insects and local cats to visit from time to time with occasional litters of kittens.
- From time to time the owner/owners may stay in a detached barn set away from the main house but the use of gardens and pool will remain strictly for the use of those hiring the property at all time.
- Equipment/Electrical Items
Although we will try our utmost to ensure all equipment is working, we cannot be responsible for any breakdowns but will always try to solve any problems as soon as possible.
- Swimming Pool
Use of the pool is entirely at the Hirer’s own risk and should remain locked at all times unless an adult is present. Covers to be replaced at night. From time to time, general maintenance may be necessary. Under no circumstances should any equipment/pumps/heaters etc be touched. If you suspect a problem with the pool, please contact our Maintenance person named in the house book immediately. The pool is completely private and only for the guests use.
A set of keys will be provided on arrival. House to be locked when guests are not at the property and returned as requested at the end of the stay. Keys are provided for upstairs windows. Please keep locked at all times when young children are present.
To be kept locked at visitors discretion. Please note the upstairs windows are traditionally low as is common in this area.

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The beautiful rural location and privacy with no near neighbours yet close to beautiful villages and local towns. Also the great walks in every direction from the house.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The buildings we understand date back 3 to 400 years and it used to be a vineyard and then a working farm.
Have you ever had any famous guests staying?
Yes, but they don’t want to be known…
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Visit the beautiful medieval villages, St Savin Cathedral and local cafes, bars and chateaux… The rivers are superb as is the kayaking!
All the local food is good but we especially recommend eating in the beautiful local village of Angles Sur L’Anglin…

What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Most people come with the idea of going out sight seeing everyday but they end up being content to stay at the property and pool. But do visit Montmorilon and Chauvigny–they are truly beautiful local towns. If you like walking, kayaking, cycling or horse riding–this is the place!
With so much on offer, it’s a wonder the departments of Vendée and Charente aren’t bursting with tourists throughout the year. With Paris not too far off (so travel and a day trip to the City of Light are a breeze) you can still experience the quaint rhythm of the French countryside – especially if you’re thinking of staying in one of our holiday villas in Vendée and Charente. Just back from one of the best holidays ever!
Manoir De Trebuchet is somewhere to go if you want to get away from the rat race and enjoy properly unwinding.
It's down a long winding lane that is so quiet you don't mind the kids going off on their bikes. The pool is secure and close enough to the house that you can keep an eye on them, but not need to be constantly watching.
My only regret - we didn't book for longer!
And our hosts Gill & Charles deserve special mention for helping to make our holiday so special.
Great location for cyclists and runners
A very well appointed and comfortable house. The kids loved the heated pool which meant they didn't mind the indifferent weather.
Lovely location backing onto miles of trails which were fantastic for running and cycling. Our children loved being able to cycle on a traffic free route to St Savin.
A slice of heaven!
This beautiful house is absolutely stunning. It is stylish, spacious and so comfortable. We loved everything about it. Trebuchet lies in the heart of French countryside flanked by fields of corn and sunflowers. The house is set in acres of lovely grounds bordered by woods with deer that sometimes graze quietly in the garden. Such peace and tranquility - a completely stress-free zone. Gillian is a wonderful host - warm and friendly.but very discreet and professional. She prepared a delicious platter for our first evening - very welcome after a long journey and highly recommended. We enjoyed relaxing by the beautiful pool and in the garden. We loved the charming villages nearby - St Savin is nearest (6 mins) with a good supermarket, patisserie, restaurants and an interesting abbey. The horse racing in La Roche Posay was good fun and there is also a casino there with a good restaurant. We loved Angles sur l'Anglin and Montmorillon - there's something for everyone within striking distance of the house. We have stayed in lots of lovely homes in France but Trebuchet is the very best. It is paradise.

A wonderful villa in the middle of beautiful rural France. A relaxing week with our 2 young children, with lots of privacy, space and a beautiful pool. Gillian was a great host, preparing a lovely platter for our arrival, and making sure we had everything we needed. Idyllic French villages are a short drive away, and conoeing on the nearby river is a fun way to spend a day. We would definitely recommend Manoir De Trebuchet for a week away with family and friends.

Wonderful and peaceful
Driving up the avenue to Trebuchet, through the wheat and barley fields, watching the farmers cutting the corn, what a lovely sight. Your home is wonderful and peaceful. Visited some beautiful Chateaux and villages. We have had a wonderful time. See you soon.

Trebuchet is delightful, it ticks all the boxes for our family; Trebuchet offers a warm welcome, peace, comfort and tranquility. There are a couple of lovely villages a short drive away which make daily shopping very pleasurable. There is no hesitation in this family returning.
A lovely house in beautiful surroundings
We have stayed in this lovely house on many occasions. The accommodation is stylish and very comfortable. It is in a beautiful location and so very peaceful. Wildlife abounds with the sound of the cuckoo by day and the crickets at night. The pool and gardens are very relazing and colourful. Althogether it makes a perfect holiday destination. We will be back.
