  • A stunning venue

Posted by Lindsey and James on 31/08/2016

It's a stunning venue, so beautiful like something out of a fairy-tale. The chateau is beautiful with authentic furnishings. The tree lined alley is breathtaking and the reception hall is also lovely, it's so naturally beautiful! The chateau and cottage sleep a lot of people, it's nice to be able to stay with all your guests and spend quality time together. We could choose our suppliers, have fireworks, bring in a babysitter. We could also stay up all night in the chateau which was also lots of fun. It's near an airport that flies directly to London so people can fly in and out for a weekend. The fact that Tiph, the chateau manager, was extremely helpful and understood all the reasons behind our requests. All very romantic. - June 2016

  • A romantic escape

Posted by Carly and Chris on 31/08/2016

We love French wine so having a local abundant supply at our finger tips was certainly a plus. We love French food as well and felt we couldn't go wrong with any menu procured in the heart of the country. The chateau made for a very romantic backdrop. In addition to being a very practical venue with tons of options for the various events, photos, etc., the colors and textures were just perfect for the atmosphere we wanted to create. Additionally, we love the French way of life... very laid back and stress free compared to our New York lifestyle. Another plus to this place is the proximity to a major city (making it easy for international travels to get there by train). - April 2016.

  • A perfect setting

Posted by Danielle and Jonathan on 05/08/2016

The size of it and history really blew me away and meant all of our guests could be together for the whole week. Not only is the Chateau restored and kept beautifully the grounds are truly spectacular. The tree lined alley is truly a majestic place. It didn't disappoint, the sun was sparkling through the trees and bats were flying around! Another plus to book this place was that the Chateau manager Tiphaine knows the place and area inside and out. She was patient and organised and went above and beyond her position to help. She helped us organise many activities during our stay which wasn't an easy task when your trying to manage 55 people who keep changing their minds every other day! She was fantastic, I cannot recommend her enough! I had guests coming from all over the world so it was great having Poitiers international airport 25 minutes away and the train station for links from Paris. The supermarket was a 10 minute walk away which had everything you needed. The nearest resort also has an outdoor swimming pool which you can use for 5euros (day pass) with a gorgeous restaurant. The place is perfect and has everything you need. My guests were blown away by the chateau, the children had a fantastic time (especially playing in the secret staircase and ringing the bell!) everyone said it was one of the best week of their lives! It is a wonderful place and I know we'll be back again to visit in the future.

  • What an unbelievable wedding we had!

    Created on 18/06/2016

My husband Chris and I decided to plan a destination wedding in southern France as a once in a lifetime experience. Both American, neither of us had any proficiency in the local language or landscape. We booked Chateau de St Jean without visiting it, placing our trust in the photos and the testimonial of others. When we arrived the Wednesday before our wedding, we were overjoyed! The venue was absolutely stunning in late May, better than the pictures could ever have described. The amenities were exactly as described and the grounds and grandeur of the place were so enchanting. It was perfect for our 65 person intimate wedding celebration.
Throughout the wedding planning process, Tiphaine was a tremendous support particularly when it came to our vendors. She led much of the co-ordination with each vendor which was a tremendous help when we faced language and time zone barriers. She even went so far as to help us pay our vendors so we could reduce the number of foreign transactions we were having to make from the US — she really just went above and beyond! Tiphaine and her assistant, Lara, were incredibly creative and innovative when it came to solving problems, which is exactly what you need in a place like this. We came up with solutions for the less traditional or quirky requests my husband and I had for the wedding and she found ways to help us solve the problems in ways other than just throwing money at them. I wholeheartedly cannot imagine a more unbelievable wedding experience — a 4 day slumber party in a castle with all of our closest friends — and we certainly wouldn’t have been able to pull it off without the brilliant help of Tiphaine. Thanks for making our day so exceptional, Tiphaine!

  • A jaw-droppingly beautiful chateau!

Posted by Gillian S. on 10/06/2016

Tiphaine was an absolute joy to work with - she helped us organise every detail of a long weekend with friends at Chateau St Jean. She recommended caterers, cooking classes, horse-back riding, wine tasting, scheduling - no detail was overlooked! She was patient, kind, incredibly organised, and a pleasure to organise the weekend with. I highly recommend her services. The chateau was jaw-droppingly beautiful - we did not want to leave and will likely be back! Cannot recommend hosting your event here more.

  • A fairy tale chateau wedding

Posted by Goda & Bill on 13/11/2014

After our spring engagement we have decided to get married only a few months away from our big day, which meant we had limited time to decide on the place where we would like to get married. With France being a country of love we had no doubts we want to have a destination wedding in France.
We found Oliver’s Travels via google as we were looking for a luxury villa or a French style chateau which could accommodate up to 50 people. We have shortlisted a few places which were within our budget and suited the requirements we had, after our visits kindly arranged by Stephanie for Oliver’s Travels the Chateau De St Jean has appealed to us the most due to its rural beauty and well kept gardens as well as beautiful on-site church, which was one of the most important aspects to us, since we wanted to have a church wedding.
Other important and major benefit of the chateau was an easy accessible location from London and other European countries, which played an important role to us when planning a destination wedding, since all of our guests had to travel from abroad.
Stephanie was very helpful and kindly introduced us to the manager of our chosen chateau in order for us to communicate direct after we have made our booking.
Not being French speakers has proven to be a difficult task when planning a wedding in France, which without a doubt has lead us to hiring a French wedding planner Tiphaine, who is also a manager of the chateau Chateau De St Jean.
Tiphaine was a real help when it come to planning our wedding especially with only a few months to go till the big day. She was very professional and helped us to organise everything we needed and desired. We have experienced some difficulties when it come to organising a church wedding, since we are not French speakers, but Tiphaine was there to help us and to help solve this dilemma, so we did have a church wedding in the end!
One of the best decisions we made when planning a wedding was to choose a destination wedding. Our amazing venue made our wedding one of the most memorable life events to us and our family and friends. We all felt very relaxed throughout the long weekend, as there was so much to do and see and we even wish we stayed longer than 3 days as it felt more like a mini break away rather than a stressful wedding.
The chateau had everything we and our guests needed including the best wedding planner Tiphaine and the amazing chef who made it all happen for us, including baking fresh croissants every morning, which you would expect in France, but perhaps not as good as the ones in Chateau De St Jean.
Having a wedding in the historic chateau also meant that we have the most amazing photographs and memories of our big day in France, the country of love.

  • Thank you for an wonderful stay!

Posted by Hugh & Claire on 23/07/2014

Thanks again for all your help over the entire year and dealing with all our questions and queries. We couldn't have done it without you and we very much appreciate it. We will be singing the praises of the chateau to everyone we know.

  • A Magical Stay

Absolute fairytale setting with superb staff who are only too pleased to help in every way they can.

  • So good I rented it twice

Posted by Wade Marolw on 24/04/2014

Chateau St. Jean is comfortable and elegant. I brought a group of artists here twice and every one of them is still talking about it. There is lots of room so that even a large group has space to get away from the crowd. The grounds are also huge. I particularly enjoyed the kitchen which is well equipped and in scale with the rest of the estate (it's big!). The location is handy as the road system will take you quickly in any direction. The most interesting direction is north to the Loire. There are a couple of beautiful valleys that take you there. A visit to some of the winerys in the area is highly recommended. The owners provided good directions from Paris but study the maps well as it is very easy to miss a turn. Poitiers is very close and I recommend dropping your rental car there and taking the train back to Paris. The car agencies are next to the train station (mostly) and the train goes directly to Charles DeGaulle airport. Book ahead though. It couldn't be easier. Rent your car at Orly airport on the south side of Paris for a convienient and short ride to the Chateau. Sincerely, Wade

What a beautiful location for a wedding - the chateau and the grounds are breathtaking! If only we could have stayed longer. It was an absolutely gorgeous wedding! • Incredible stay at this most magical Chateau

Posted by Kavita Butler on 19/03/2012

After an incredible stay at this most magical Chateau I can honestly say that myself and all my friends had the best weekend ever. The grounds were enticing and the Chateau was as grand as it was magnificent.
With so many original features and secret passage ways we were invited into a weekend of fantasy and adventure. Our lovely chef Corrine cooked us up a feast and our hostess with the mostess Tiphaine ensured we has everything we could possibly need at our disposal. I believe the local bistro became part of the birthday celebrations too and it's proprietor was helpful and accmodating. A return visit will be planned and I recommend the Chateau to everyone.....families, couples, weddings and all. Thank you for a great 40th birthday x

Merci Tiphaine. We have still not stopped talking about our time at St Jean with you all and our very special day. It is something we will remember for ever. The pictures we have are fantastic of the Chateau and all the events we had. Everyone had such an amazing time. Thank you again for all your hard work and organising. xx Richard

  • Amazing chateau!

It is hard to describe our experience at St Jean without using too many superlatives or exclamation marks! We were delighted by how helpful Tiphaine, the chateau manager, was. She was available to answer our questions no matter how random they seemed. The place itself was just beautiful, very well maintained inside and out. Our guests had an unforgettable time and felt it was well worth a trip across the atlantic to spend time there. We think we had the best wedding and are so grateful to the Nash and Linda for the chance to stay at their amazing chateau!

  • What a remarkable place

What a remarkable place the Chateau is. I feel like we've been in a film for the last week. Our retreat was very successful, with people saying they hadn't had such a good time in years, and that they'd return in a minute, and that if others knew how great the Chateau and the week was, I'd have a long waiting list.
