A stone’s throw from the idyllic village of Lourmarin, located in the captivating Luberon region, this charming 3-bedroom villa is perfectly placed for a family or small group of friends wishing to make the most of this wonderful part of Provence.

The ground floor living and dining areas offer a sense of space with their open plan design and sliding windows opening straight out to the terrace. Across two floors, three double bedrooms, two featuring queen-size beds, are simply yet comfortably furnished whilst a pretty bathroom and separate shower room means there is ample space for up to six guests.

The swimming pool is a gorgeous place to spend a summery afternoon with its decked terrace, pretty stone wall and olive trees. The covered al-fresco dining terrace is ideal for convivial lunchtimes, no doubt enjoying gastronomic delights from local Luberon markets.

Lourmarin, less than 2km away, awaits with its medieval lanes filled with inviting shops and pretty terrace cafes. Admire the vibrant colours of the Provençal market on a Friday morning and appreciate why this picture-perfect village has inspired so many artists and writers over the many years, including the late Albert Camus of course.  Tour Lourmarin’s famous château and look out for concerts and other events taking place in the castle’s enchanting surroundings.

Potter around other pretty villages of the Luberon, perhaps starting off in Ansouis and Cucuron, then venturing north to iconic perched villages such as Gordes, Bonnieux and Ménerbes. Aix-en-Provence is also easily reached, only 38km by car, whilst other gems of Provence include L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and the historic city of Avignon.

In the Vaucluse department of southern France, Villa Dahlias is located just outside the pretty village of Lourmarin in the southern part of the captivating Luberon region, 38km from Aix-en-Provence.

In a residential hamlet outside the village, the heart of Lourmarin is just under 2km away by car or bike. It’s such an idyllic place to spend time whether exploring its flower-filled lanes, coming across little shops, stopping off for a coffee on a café terrace or discovering some of the village’s excellent restaurants. It’s Friday morning Provençal market is a joy to experience and don’t miss the opportunity to tour the village’s famous château which hosts several concerts as well as other festivities and events.

As you admire the countryside in this part of the Luberon, pass vineyards, olive groves and orchards growing cherries and almonds. There’s canoeing and kayaking on the Durance River and the nearby Étang de la Bonde, where locals swim in the summer, is a peaceful area for walking and fishing. Horse-riding and cycling are also very popular pursuits here.

Visit Ansouis (10km), another classified French ‘Plus Beaux Villages’, home to a wonderful castle and Michelin starred restaurant. Also spend time in Cucuron (6km), such a lovely place with a delightful square, bassin, another high-end restaurant and Tuesday morning market.

Heading further north, other perched villages of the Luberon are a must-see such as Bonnieux (15km), Ménerbes (27km) and Van Gogh’s beloved Gordes (35km). Foodies won’t want to miss the Saturday morning market in Apt (20km) whilst a little further afield is L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (40km), home to one of France’s most famous brocantes on a Sunday morning.

Driving south, Aix-en-Provence (38km) is worthy of a brilliant day out with its parks, galleries, museums, book shops and café terraces. The landscapes of Les Alpilles also await with gems such as Les Baux-de-Provence and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence reached in around an hour by car.

The Luberon is a wonderful region for families with a wealth of outdoor activities from walking and cycling trails to horse-riding, rock-climbing and more.

Watersport enthusiasts can hire canoes along the nearby Durance River or drive northwards towards the idyllic landscapes of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, 40km away, for kayaking or canoeing along the Sorgue River.

Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and Salon-de-Provence both have tree-top adventure centres with courses for a range of ages (depending on height).

Another attraction close by is Zoo Barben, a must for animal lovers, whilst two theme parks, Grimmland and Le Village Des Automates, are also easily reached, around 20-40 minutes south of Lourmarin.

Spend the day in Aix-en-Provence and take a ride on the famous Paul Cézanne carousel, tour the small city via the tourist road train, pick up some deliciously sweet marzipan from one of the pretty shops then discover one of the great parks, museums or art galleries.

These terms and conditions may be amended from time to time.

Security deposit €1200 charged to client’s credit card before arrival and refunded two weeks after departure, subject to full inspection.
Arrival time 5.00 p.m. Late arrivals after 9.00 p.m. may be charged a late arrival fee of €120.
Departure time 10.00 a.m.
End of stay cleaning included? No. €50, payable locally. This is for a standard changeover clean. Guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or rubbish disposal required will be charged against the security deposit.
Changeover day Saturday. All other changeover days on request.
Minimum stay 7 nights. All other duraitons on request.

Heating costs included? Yes.
Tax French Visitors Tax payable locally (typically costs €1-€5 per adult per night- please enquire if exact amount is required).
