Villa Amygdalus offers a vast, captivating holiday home in the heart of Pays d’Aix. With eleven elegant rooms and suites, this 17th Century villa can host large groups of up to twenty-two guests. The villa is situated amid a 22-hectare historical park, within a 300-hectare vineyard estate, providing beautiful views in every direction you look.
This historic vineyard has been running for over 2000 years, flourishing inside the crater of Provence’s only volcano. The geography and excellent soil quality are the perfect ingredients for making exceptional wines, several of which you should try during your stay. They are also the perfect ingredients for an exceptional holiday!
The distinctive architecture of the building gives a little insight into the charm and character of the interiors, but the immaculate finishes and décor that stretch to every corner of each room have to be seen to be understood. Restored to the highest of standards, each room speaks to a different moment in history, from 17th century Spanish décor to 1850’s English styles.
The bedrooms range from elegant double’s to sophisticated suites, all offering plenty of room for you to embrace some privacy alone or as a couple, and all boasting beautiful views across the grounds. The views range from across the garden and vines, to the cour d’honneur and nymphaeum. Every room is equipped with its own bathroom, dressing room, television and coffee machine, as well as all the extra comforts you might expect from a top-quality hotel.
Outside, Villa Amygdalus offers even more enchanting spaces. The heated swimming pool is bordered by sun beds perfect for relaxing in the summer sun. Afternoons can be spent strolling around the landscaped gardens, taking in the shades of lush greenery, and stopping for a picnic under some vines. Whether you are looking to learn more about the vineyards and wine, to explore the nearby historic towns, or to treat yourself to wellness treatments, tennis and cooking classes, there is so much to see and do around Villa Amygdalus, making it the ultimate holiday base in southern France.

- Please note that the maximum capacity of adults at the property is twenty-two. However, the property can sleep an additional two children and two babies.
- Every room has a private bathroom with bath, bath robes, slippers and hair dryer also provided.

Conveniently located just a 25-minute drive from Aix-en-Provence, the villa is in a great position for exploring this corner of France. Aix-en-Provence is a vibrant city, alive with historical sights, museums, markets and restaurants, providing you with plenty of cultural and Provencal encounters. The city and surrounding countryside were in fact the inspiration for numerous artists including Renoir, Cezanne and Picasso who drew on the beauty of this region through their artforms. Aix-en-Provence offers all the good of Provence in one place; great food, good wine, French boutiques, near the mountains, sea and within driving distance of the pretty lavender fields.
The surrounding countryside is just as beautiful, with picturesque views that will have you pulling your camera out at every turn. There are miles of vineyards, acres of lavender fields, world-class food and a vast array of small market towns that you can explore day by day. Popular among hikers and cyclists, foot and bike are the best means of transport for exploring this beautiful area.
For beach lovers, the beautiful Cote d’Azur is only a two-hour drive away, or the sweeping sands of Plage de la Grande Mer can be reached within one hour. Along the coast, past Marseille, the beaches within Calanques National Park are renowned. A Calanques is a tucked away cove which seem to be dramatically cut out of the limestone cliffs. There are a series of these coves, some easier to access than others. The easiest way to visit is by taking a boat from Cassis harbour which takes around 30-minutes to get to the first stop. If you prefer to hike then you can walk to the striking Calanque d’En Vau in around an hour from Port Mio, the view as you approach the cove is well worth the walk!

Best Suited For: All AgesThis fantastic villa is a brilliant choice for family holidays in Provence. Kids will adore running around the landscaped gardens, following the curving, manicured edges of the luscious hedges and playing hide and seek among the vines. The swimming pool is among the top features, heated so it can be enjoyed into the cooler months and with sun loungers where you can sit and relax, watching your little ones play in the warm water. The rich history and charms of the villa are as alluring to kids, as they are adults. With spare beds and cots in several of the suites, kids will love sharing the beautifully decorated bedrooms, whilst older children can revel in the privacy and indulgence of their own room.
From the villa itself, you can arrange cooking lessons and local tours, exploring the regions incredible cuisine and beautiful countryside together as a family. Staying so close to Aix-en-Provence there are endless thing to do and places to appeal to families in this part of southern France.
The town’s interesting museums, luscious parks, beautiful art galleries and the enchanting Paul Cézanne Carousel are just a few of the gems Aix-en-Provence has to offer, all of which will entice kids. After all the exploring, ice creams and a trip to a local patisserie are a great way to life their energy again. The classic pain au chocolat, or local Calissons d’Aix are all worth tasting.
For a fun afternoon, the Zoo Barben is a great choice, around a twenty-minute drive from the villa. The amusement parks, such as Le Village Des Automates and Parc Grimmland also offer plenty of fun, or the enjoy tree-top adventures at Accro Passion near Salon-de-Provence are an adventure kids will be running home to tell their friends about!
Family days at the beach are always a popular choice. The Mediterranean coast is within a short drive, with the seaside resort of Cassis just one hours drive away. Boasting pretty beaches, with snorkelling, windsurfing and kayaks, kids will be in heaven and there are plenty of the activities that adults can join in too. To make your trip to the coast even more special, an afternoon boat trip from the port along the stunning coastline of the Calanques National Park is highly recommended. You can visit pretty caves and try snorkelling in coves when the boat stops.
