Maison Paisible is a stunning six-bedroom home surrounded by the beautiful Provence countryside. Just 7km from the lively town of Aix-en-Provence yet situated amongst serene gardens in a rural location, Maison Paisible is certainly in an enviable setting, perfect for a family holiday.

The house can sleep up to 12 guests, and you are even allowed to bring a small pet along with you, so the whole family or group of friends will be happy in this light and spacious home. The private pool, tree-filled gardens, terraces and areas for table tennis, boules and volleyball will keep everybody entertained on lazy days at the house. As night falls, the open living area is a great place to socialise and unwind.

When you wish to stock up on supplies or want to have an evening off from cooking then within 3km, you can be at local restaurants and a supermarket. Also nearby you have the village of Venelles which holds a wine festival in May and is otherwise known for its walking trails through the pine forests, historic churches and castle ruins. Venelles is a great little place to visit for some lunch and a wander around. Another attraction near to the house is the Bastide De Romégas which has stunning gardens with a maze, fountains, ponds and a chapel in the grounds of a 17th century home. The gardens are a lovely place to spend a relaxing afternoon, make sure to pack some of the delicious local cheeses and breads for your picnic.

At Maison Paisible you can spend the morning having breakfast in the serene gardens and then spend the afternoon in a fast-paced, exciting town in the nearby Aix-en-Provence. The town is a stunning mixture of old and new and there are all the shops, bars, cinemas and restaurants you could wish for alongside the more traditional eateries, museums and galleries. The oldest area of the town is Vieil Aix and this charming maze of winding historic streets is a great place to spend the day just looking at all of the monuments and nipping into artisan shops.

Maison Paisible is situated just 7km outside of Aix-en-Province but benefits from the feel of a rural country home. Surrounding the house, there are several small villages each with their own charm and character. There is plenty to discover as you explore the surrounding areas, but two of the villages near to the house are Éguilles and Venelles. These villages are small and off the main tourist trail, but they each have a selection of eateries and shops and host markets which are handy for doing your shopping.

When you wish to soak up some local culture and explore historic winding streets then make the 20-minute car journey to Aix-en-Provence which has something for everyone to enjoy; from cinemas and churches to shops and trendy bars. A great way to explore the town is to take a guided tour, these are available in the form of walking tours around the town, or you could take a longer tour which visits local villages too.

Situated in the oldest area of Aix-en-Provence is the much-loved Musée Granet. The Musée has been there since 1838 and is one of France’s best art museums. Whatever your preferred artistic style, you are sure to stumble across some of your favourites or discover something new. The museum holds works by Picasso, Monet, Klee, Matisse and local artist Cézanne plus many more. Other highlights of Aix-en-Provence include the Cathédrale St-Sauveur which was completed in 1350 and, if you happen to visit on a Sunday, make sure to drop-in to hear the majestic Gregorian chants. If you prefer shopping to churches and museums, fear not as Aix-en-Provence has plenty of artisan shops as well as lovely markets where you can stock up on famous local herbs or soaps.

If the weather is fine, you may wish you were by the coast soaking up the sun. Luckily the house is located just 37km from Marseille. Within 40 minutes of leaving the Maison, you can find yourself sipping a glass of local wine at a water-side bar enjoying the views of the stunning harbours. Marseille is one of the largest cities in France and so has all the amenities you could wish for, but you will also find a variety of sandy beaches to enjoy.

In the opposite direction from the house, but equally charming, is the Luberon region which is filled with lovely villages to visit. The drive is around an hour and a half from leaving the holiday home but is worth the trip. The region is a patchwork of beautiful villages all filled with shops, cafes, winding streets, abbeys and vineyards. Plus the mountainous nature of the area means there are plenty of stunning walking routes to explore. Some of the more well-known villages to look out for are Ménerbes, Bonnieux and Lourmarin.

Provence is the ideal playground for children and a wonderful place to explore for a family holiday.

The outdoorsy child is surrounded by opportunities to have adventures and make memories, whatever they are interested in. Nearby there are huge woodlands with walking trails, hiking areas, horse riding centres, tennis courts and bike hire. Plenty to tire them out!

Nearby Aix-en-Provence has lots of great attractions for all of the family to visit including a wealth of art galleries and museums. If you happen to visit the famous Musée Granet while in town, there are often brilliant artistic workshops held for children, and there are kids books and art materials for them to use while looking around. Also just outside of Aix-en-Provence, you will find AquaPark which was opened earlier this year on a pre-existing lake. Here you will find attractions for different ages of children and adults alike with lots of fun inflatables, volleyball, slides, diving boards, climbing walls and even an obstacle course. After a few hours of fun, you can relax by the lake-side and have something to eat.

If your child would love nothing more than a day at the beach, then you can be having fun on a beach in Marseille within an hour of leaving your holiday home. Children can have a great day building sandcastles and paddling in the sea while you lounge on the beach.
