The incredible Provençal setting of Les Genets with its dramatic mountain backdrop will take your breath away. This beautifully restored farmhouse offers authenticity and charm and is the ideal place for a rural getaway only a short drive from the charming town of Saint-Rémy de Provence.

Full of character and history, Les Genets is a delight to explore when you first arrive. Admire the relaxed open-plan living room with its grand open fireplace, seek out the pretty kitchen and open the doors to the shaded al-fresco dining terrace. Follow the steps to the first floor where you’ll find four charming bedrooms and three pretty bedrooms, all thoughtfully styled with an air of rustic simplicity with many beautiful original features. On the lower floor, a fifth bright and spacious bedroom and bathroom lead straight out to the garden and a low-ceilinged laundry room adds character as well as convenience.

This is the place to come to relax with your family and friends. Kick back in the TV room, play table football then search out your favourite game in the salon de jeux or peruse the books dotted around the home. On cooler evenings huddle in the candle-lit living room as you drink fine wine with good company whilst in the summer you can throw the doors open to the vast open terrace, shaded patio and glorious grounds.

The outdoors is designed for lazy days relaxing on a deck chair, messing around in the swimming pool or just marvelling at the incredible landscapes around you. The open grounds are huge and wonderful to explore with Provençal plants, olive trees and towering pines above you.

It’s hard to believe you’re only 5km to one of this region’s most charming towns. Drive to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence where you can wander down the winding lanes filled with art galleries, lovely boutiques and excellent restaurants. The Wednesday morning Provençal market is a must and art-lovers will also appreciate the town’s historical links to Vincent Van Gogh.

Head further afield in Les Alpilles Natural Park, passing vineyards, olive groves and summer fields of sunflowers to discover delightful villages such as Les Baux-de-Provence, one of France’s acclaimed ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ and beautiful Maussane with its ancient olive mills and lovely bistros. Arles and Avignon are also worthy day-trips, both full of fascinating history so typical of this region.

At the end of the day, return to your wonderful abode, sit out on your al-fresco terrace and listen to the cigales as you stare at the starry sky in this stunning setting in the heart of true Provence.

Les Genets is in an incredible rural location with vast, open grounds and amazing views of Les Alpilles mountains in the heart of true Provence, under a ten-minute drive to the charming town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (5km) is an archetypal town of this region with narrow lanes filled with pretty art galleries displaying and selling the work of local artists, many of whom live there. In the summer months, on selected Sundays, the ‘Route des Artistes’ fills with local artists showing off their work creating a wonderful and bustling atmosphere. Follow the trail of the town’s most famous artist, Vincent Van Gogh, who lived in the famous asylum St Paul de Mausole where he created 150 paintings including ‘Starry Night’.

It’s a town especially popular with food-lovers due to the lovely restaurants from down-to-earth bistros to Michelin starred establishments. You can also pick up some lovely local produce at the weekly Provençal market on a Wednesday morning.

Explore Les Alpilles Natural Park and discover vineyards, olive groves, summer landscapes of sunflowers and archetypal Provençal villages full of charm and history. Les Baux-de-Provence (10km), one of France’s acclaimed ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ and Van Gogh’s precious Arles (27km) are both within easy reach whilst Maussane (12km) is a must for its ancient olive mills and some of the finest oils in the world. A little further, Gordes (42km) is yet another one of the beautiful villages worth visiting with stunning architecture, set in the outstanding Luberon region with equally beautiful landscapes.

Don’t miss the lively city of Avignon (25km) during your stay. Explore the winding medieval streets, experience further excellent dining opportunities and visit two UNESCO world heritage sites, the Pope’s Palace and Saint Benezet Bridge. The covered market offers all sorts of delights or head to the weekend farmers, flower and flea markets for wonderful local produce and a bargain or two.

Golf-lovers will find a range of courses across the region whilst there are horse-riding and ample cycling opportunities nearby. A little further afield, older children will love kayaking near L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (40km) and there are plenty of other family friendly activities throughout this part of Provence from open castles and trekking across the tree-tops to visiting a zoo or model railway.
