Le Mas Paisable is in a peaceful rural setting with two acres of gorgeous grounds and inviting interiors that exude Provençal charm, just 3km from the idyllic perched village of Ménerbes, one of France’s classified ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.

A lovely four-bedroom home for family or friends, experience the character of this former farmhouse as you relax in the spacious living room with its wood-beamed ceiling, pretty fireplace and French windows leading out to the garden. The country-style kitchen is warm and traditional, opening up to the al-fresco dining terrace and there’s a second lounge upstairs for quiet reading on cosy evenings.

There are two gorgeous double bedrooms with an en suite bath or shower room whilst the top-floor is home to an air-conditioned double and twin under the exposed beams of the sloping ceiling, together with a shared shower room. All in all, this mas makes an attractive and welcoming home for up to eight guests across three floors.

Outside, picnic on the lawn dotted with fruit trees, find shade under the ancient plane tree and enjoy summer lunches by the vine-covered pergola and barbecue. Splash around in the swimming pool, surrounded by sun-loungers and a stone paved terrace overlooking the handsome cypresses. This wonderful setting is sure to enchant everyone.

Set out exploring the magnificent Luberon with its rolling hills, cherry orchards, lavender fields and summer sunflowers. Discover why nearby Ménerbes inspired Peter Mayes’ ‘A Year in Provence’ or how Van Gogh was seduced by the beauty of Gordes. Other magical perched villages so typical of this region include Bonnieux, Roussillon and Lacoste whilst food-lovers will adore the atmospheric Farmer’s markets in places such as Apt and Coustellet.

Spend days in Avignon, Aix-en-Provence and Saint-Rémy or stay closer to home and find the most rewarding walks and beautiful cycle rides through the Luberon landscapes. Le Mas Paisable is set in Provence’s Luberon region, just 3km by car to the hilltop village of Ménerbes. With just one neighbouring villa, it enjoys a rural and quiet setting in two acres of picturesque gardens and grounds.

Ménerbes, only 3km away, is one of the many archetypal Luberon perched villages, surrounded by vineyards and cherry orchards. Climb its steep cobbled lanes and come across little shops and charming restaurants including Bistrot Le 5 with its gorgeous terrace. Enjoy views of the Luberon massif and even Mont Ventoux from the edge of the village and admire the beautiful buildings from the 1500 and 1600s. The Thursday morning market is also a joy. It’s no wonder Ménerbes is classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ and inspired Peter Mayes’ famous novel ‘A Year in Provence’.

Food-lovers will also appreciate the Sunday morning Farmer’s market in Coustellet, 7km by car, a village with plenty of shops and amenities too, or pick up other Provençal delights at markets in places such as Apt, Cavaillon, Gordes and Bonnieux – depending on the season, expect to find melons, peaches, goats cheese, honey, wild boar, lavender products and so much more.

The Luberon is also perfect for keen walkers with well-marked trails to suit a variety of abilities as well as local cycle rides, including a newly paved path along a former railway track called La Véloroute du Calavon. Rock-climbers should head to Buoux, about 25km away, or spend relaxing family days kayaking down the Sorgue river from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse towards L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, an incredibly picturesque town known for its antique shops.

Other fantastic days out include Van Gogh’s beloved Saint-Rémy (42km), the University town of Aix-en-Provence (65km) as well as Avignon (38km) with its UNESCO World Heritage sites, set on the Rhône river.

The gorgeous landscapes of the Luberon offer some wonderful walking trails suitable for families as well as horse-riding, rock-climbing and plenty of atmospheric Farmer’s markets where you can pick up all sorts of lovely treats.

Cycling is another popular pursuit – La Véloroute du Calavon is good for families as it is a paved path which follows a former railway line near the nearby village of Beaumettes, passing beautiful landscapes as you ride.

Water-lovers can hire kayaks along the Sorgue river in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse or stop-off at the tree-top activity centre near there which offers trails for a variety of ages.

Heading north towards Carpentras, other family attractions include the model railway centre, Le Jarditrain and the amusement park, Parc Spirou Provence, as well as Wave Island water park and the fascinating caves at Grottes de Thouzon.

Security deposit €800 charged to client’s credit card as a pre-authorisation one month before arrival and refunded two weeks after departure, subject to full inspection.
