Experience authentic Provence in this charming 6-bedroom home set in beautiful gardens, ideally set between Arles and Avignon, close to incredible natural scenery and near one of France’s most historic towns.

Filled with Provençal character, this homely abode dates back to the 18th century and is ideal for guests seeking authenticity in enchanting surroundings. There’s a warm ambience throughout with a cosy mix of old and new furnishings, creating a comfortable holiday home for up to ten guests across its six pretty bedrooms. Delightful original features add to the traditional style and guests will love the ornate feeling in many of the rooms from antique pieces and canopied beds to beautiful tiling and wood beamed ceilings. Alongside this old-world charm you’ll also find air-conditioning in each of the bedrooms and Wi-Fi throughout.

The gardens are a Provençal paradise with vast lawns, century-old cypresses, roses and lavender. Dip into the inviting swimming pool so beautifully framed by verdant trees, sip rosé under the pergola or dine al-fresco with loved ones looking over the lawns and pines. There are tranquil spots where you can escape with a book in the sun, admiring the summer colours around you with the backdrop of this picturesque blue-shuttered mas.

Just ten minutes away by car are the historic towns of Tarascon and Beaucaire, both on the banks of the Rhône, connected by a series of beautiful bridges. The Tuesday morning market in Tarascon is fantastic as is the town’s 15th century château whilst the Beaucaire is classified as one of France’s ‘Villes d'Art et Histoire’.

Avignon, Arles and Nîmes are also within striking distance or head south to the glorious landscapes of Les Alpilles with Saint-Rémy-de-Provence only 20km away. Wine-lovers have so many vineyards to explore as well as the famous town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape close by whilst those seeking adventure can indulge in outdoor activities across the region including some wonderful walks on your doorstep.

Le Logis Des Merveilles really does allow you to immerse yourself in Provence even if you don’t wish to venture much further than your enchanting home and beautiful garden.

In an ideal position between Avignon and Arles, Le Logis Des Merveilles enjoys a countryside location just a ten-minute drive from the fortified town of Tarascon.

There is an attractive village just over a five-minute drive away with restaurants, cafes and shops. There are also some wonderful walks from your doorstep, ideal for spring, early summer and late autumn (some of the trails are closed July to mid-September).

Visit historic Tarascon (5km) on a Tuesday morning to experience its vibrant Provençal market, then explore its medieval lanes with pretty cafes and shops. Visit the 15th century Château de Tarascon and history lovers will also adore the stunning Cloître des Cordeliers, dating back to the mid-1300s. Shop to your hearts delight on the beautiful Rue des Halles with is arcades and cobbles. You’ll also find practicalities such as supermarkets just outside the town.

On the banks of the Rhône, cross over one of the picturesque bridges into Beaucaire and explore the historic centre; this town is a classified ‘Historic Town in France’ as well as being a ‘Villes d'Art et Histoire’. It has a port both on the river and the Sete-Rhône canal which is a pleasant place to stroll by the waterfront. Look out for summer festivities taking place in late June and July.

Avignon is also nearby with its incredible UNESCO World Heritage sites, fantastic markets and great restaurants, cafes and wine-bars. It’s a wonderful place to spend the day, visiting the 14th Century Palais des Papes and the famous Pont Saint-Bénézet or take a river cruise along the Rhône.

Arles (22km) is close with its amazing Roman history, art galleries and Van Gogh heritage whilst beautiful Nîmes (35km) is home to one of the best-preserved Roman temples in France, Maison Carrée. Another UNESCO World Heritage site can be found just outside of Nîmes – Le Pont du Gard is a stunning place for picnics by the river whilst the more adventurous can hire canoes and kayaks.

Wine-lovers will be keen to head to Châteauneuf-du-Pape (37km) for a day exploring the glorious vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône. There are also many other excellent wineries in the surrounding area including across the border in Gard department and further south in Les Alpillles.

Indeed, the Parc Naturel Regional des Alpilles is just a short drive away with its idyllic towns and villages easily reached such as Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (20km), Eygalières (32km) and one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ Les Baux-de-Provence’ (22km) within half an hour. Sample some of France’s best olive oil from the region’s original mills, dine in Michelin starred restaurants and soak up the glorious landscapes of undulating hills and woodland. There are also walking, cycling and horse-riding opportunities here.

You’re only a short drive from one of southern France’s most historic towns, Tarascon. Visit the 15th century castle, admire the 14th century Château de Tarascon and browse in the pretty arcaded shops along Rue des Halles. The vibrant market on a Tuesday morning is also a lot of fun. If staying in late June or July, look out for all sorts of festivities in the town and neighbouring Beaucaire including wonderful parades.

Avignon is another lovely day out, perhaps combined with a river cruise along the Rhone. Younger guests can pick up the little road-train for a tour of the beautiful city.

Head south to Arles and art-lovers can explore the galleries as well as the Van Gogh walking tour around the town. St-Rémy is another place for budding artists, again with its own Van Gogh trail which finishes at Saint Paul de Mausole.

Water-lovers can hire canoes or kayaks along the Gard river, especially at the magnificent Pont du Gard, a UNESCO World Heritage site. L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is another great spot for canoeing combined with a trip to one of the little antique stalls or amazing Sunday morning brocante.

Heading around 45-minutes north to Carpentras, look out for the waterparks en route (Wave Island and Oupa Splash) or discover the charming model railway at JardiTrain just south of the town.
