Tucked away on a residential street within a sleepy village sits Le Jardin Provençale. With charming towns and enchanting cities just a short drive away and glorious views of the nearby Luberon Hills, this house is the ideal base for your holiday in Provence.

Beautifully decorated with a mixture of rustic pieces and modern comforts, this 2-bedroom home has a laid-back yet elegant feel. The open-plan kitchen/dining room is a delightful space to gather as you prepare then tuck into a delicious meal while the living area with comfy sofas, armchairs and a huge stone fireplace is perfect for curling up with a book or watching TV in the evenings.

Two lovely bedrooms on the ground floor sleep up to 4 guests. Featuring double beds, quality linen and en-suite bathrooms, they are the height of comfort and relaxation.

Outside, the pergola-covered terrace is one of the best spots to admire the beautiful gardens and spectacular Luberon Hills in the distance. There’s a comfy seating area plus an outdoor kitchen and dining table for enjoying al-fresco meals. From the terrace, steps lead down to the luxurious pool area. Take refreshing dips or relax on the sun loungers as you or breathe in the scent of roses, rosemary, lavender, vines and figs.

A handful of useful amenities, including a butchers and grocery shop, can be found just a 5-minute walk away in the centre of the village (the route is partially along country lanes with no pavement). There’s also a little boulangerie/patisserie that’s ideal for morning breakfast runs!

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a picturesque town built on a network of canals. Just 11km away, it hosts a popular antiques market on Sundays where you can browse for souvenirs.

Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is a medieval village from which the River Sorgue springs. It can be reached in 35 minutes and the emerald green water attracts lots of visitors, as does the impressive cliffy backdrop and château.

A 40-minute drive takes you to the city of Avignon, the centre of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Brimming with culture and atmosphere, it’s a brilliant place to spend the day.

The Luberon and Vaucluse Mountains offer an extensive collection of paths and trails that can be explored on foot or by bike. Journey from village to village as you hike through farms, vineyards and forests and admire the region’s exquisite natural beauty.

Le Jardin Provençale is ideally located within an authentic Provence village. Useful essentials like a boulangerie, butchers, grocery store and restaurant can be reached on foot in just 5 minutes.

Other charming villages nearby include Maubec and Menerbes, which are around a 10-minute drive away. Situated at the base of the Luberon, Maubec is a tiny village filled with cobblestone streets leading up the hill towards an ancient bell tower.

Menerbes is officially one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, thanks to its medieval buildings, pretty churches and 16th-century Citadelle. Head towards the centre where you will find an ice cream shop and a market on Thursday mornings.

Gordes is another of the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Just 7km away, it is home to museums, galleries and an impressive 10-century chateau. Plus, from the top of the village, which faces the Luberon, you will be rewarded with the most spectacular views.

Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is a well-known destination a 35-minute drive from the house. Here, water pours out of the towering cliffside and feeds the River Sorgue, which turns a striking emerald green colour and trickles through the town. It’s one of the largest springs in the world and a must-see! In addition, there’s a wonderful selection of riverside restaurants and lots of souvenir stalls.

The town of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is 11km away and definitely worth a visit, especially on Sunday mornings when the antiques market takes place. Nicknamed ‘The Provençal Venice’ the River Sorgue flows through the town, with footbridges connecting the flower-filled streets and cafés lining the waterside.

Avignon is about 45 minutes away and is famed for its UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Pope’s Palace and the Saint Benezet Bridge. The city also hosts a lively flea-market and has excellent dining opportunities. Head to the Pope’s Palace Gardens for a gorgeous walk away from some of the crowds.

The nearby Luberon offers a variety of walking trails through exquisite countryside. Pass prehistoric caves, old mills and abandoned villages and admire the views of Mont Ventoux, Avignon and the edge of the French Alps as you hike. If cycling is your thing then there are also plenty of scenic routes in the Luberon. The Ochre circuit is very popular, as is La Veloroute du Calavon, which starts just 12km away from Le Jardin Provençale.
