What Oliver loves…
- You really feel you are stepping back to a simpler time, surrounded by idyllic gardens and wildlife as far as you can see, staying in a chateau of authentic 18th century luxury
- You effectively have your own private adventure park, with a seemingly endless list of garden features and tranquil spaces
- Guests are afforded absolute privacy in a tiny settlement at the foot of the Pyrenees, along the River Le Ger, miles from any towns or cities
First you see the lawns and the giant cedars of Lebanon, then the Pyrenean peaks on the southern horizon, and then the château, restful on its plâteau, simple, elegant, perfect, with 18th-century proportions. Welcome to another world: one of art, beauty, serenity, fine museum pieces and a dash of humour.
The housekeeper is a treasure and can cater for you – though the kitchen, big, charming, classical, but modern, is an absolute pleasure to cook in. Salon, library, dining room and the grandest of bedrooms glow with French and English antiques and the entire house is a work of art – there are beautiful parquet floors and magnificent plaster ceilings, a grand staircase and oriental designer stencilling.
The rooms in the attic are more child-friendly, and if children want to play on wet days, there's a barn full of games and yoga mats for grown ups. As for the gardens: imagine 200 old roses and scattered magnolias, scalloped hedges, arcades of wisteria, secret corners, a pondful of carp and a suntrap salt water pool enclosed by an exquisite mosaic wall in the style of Gaudi.
An exquisite late 18th Century Chateau situated in the first range of foothills of the Pyrenees, built just before the French Revolution by the Comte du Pac. It sits on a hilltop with exceptional panoramic views down the valley and towards the mountains. Situated on the edge of a small village, the main house is backed by a courtyard of eighteenth century barns and enjoys 11 acres of park and gardens ensuring complete privacy.
The location of the house gives easy summer access to splendid walking, riding, canoeing, fishing, golf and many other sporting and recreational activities. Tennis courts are a very short drive. In winter skiing is available at a number of nearby resorts. Hunting and fishing are also available. The Spanish border is a short drive and the excellent road network makes access to Lourdes, Barcelona and Biarritz possible for short excursions.
The gardens and park of the Chateau, restored and developed by the present owners over the past twenty years, are well known and the subject of magazine articles. There is a large pond (which is not fenced-off), a sunken herb garden, an exotic garden, a rose garden, a stone column pergola, a bamboo walk and an English herbaceous border and many rare and ancient trees and shrubs.
The heated saltwater swimming pool (12.5m x 6m) has an exquisite modern mosaic wall with a mosaic seating area. Around the pool there are sun-loungers, tables & chairs, barbecue, umbrellas and indoor shower, toilet and Turkish mosaic steam room.
The interiors of the house, meticulously restored to an extremely high standard, retain many period features with exquisite plasterwork, decorative fireplaces and parquet floors to all the principal rooms. It has regained its original style and elegance whilst retaining the atmosphere of a real home. The house is wonderfully light and airy. All rooms enjoy wonderful views and are decorated with antique mirrors and furniture. There is a large, hand-built kitchen with all modern facilities connected to a formal dining room. The main drawing room has antique French furniture & tapestries. Telephone, television (French and SKY satellite English channels), video/DVD player and Wi-Fi Internet are available. The house, apart from having many decorative fireplaces, has central heating and is therefore suitable for winter lets.

A relatively new addition to France, the Midi-Pyrénées was created to surround the cultural capital of Toulouse in the late 1970s. You might think that its relative youth would mean the Midi-Pyrénées is short on character or identity, but remember, this is France we’re talking about – the whole country is steeped in history and tradition. Encompassing parts of Gascony, Languedoc, the Gers and several others, you’ll get a varied slice of the whole French experience here, not least if you stay at one of our beautiful chateaux in the Midi-Pyrénées! And if you want to discover the best of what the region has to offer, our Midi-Pyrénées travel guide is here to show you where to go, what to eat and how you can make the best of your break with some amazing activities.
This beautiful Chateau is immersed in beautiful countryside and is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy nature in the company of family and friends.
Perfect for families, children and adults of all ages. Enjoy an al fresco dinner, relax by the pool, play games on the lawn, enjoy the local farmers' markets, take advantage of the nearby mountains to hike, cycle or ski. Great fun for the whole family.

A grand home from home
This is a spectacular house which somehow manages to feel homely at the same time. Huge comfortable rooms, most bedrooms have their own bathrooms. An eccentric mix of works of art everywhere, which makes it feel as if you're visiting friends who just happen to have popped out. The housekeeper is super-friendly and efficient. Gardens and pool dream-like. The owners dealt with us personally, doing their best with all our questions. The week was gloriously hot and sunny, and we lounged by the pool and ate out under the catalpa trees... Dreamy. We shall be back next year in July for whole 2 weeks. Thank you.
A truly remarkable holiday
We had planned a reunion with another family, and as there were 12 of us, we needed large accommodation. We found the Chateau to be perfect and very flexible for all of our needs. There are plenty of en suite bathrooms, and the water was always hot on demand, which is impressive as there were 5 teenagers in our party. The kitchen is fully equipped, you can tell it is a home, as it was absolutely stocked with everything you could want. The Chateau is tastefully decorated, with the Owners' personal touches giving it a warm atmosphere. All the mod cons to make it a remarkable week were there too; satellite English TV, with DVD, and WiFi. The grounds and gardens are stunning, with views of the Pyrenees mountains and are extremely well maintained. The pool area is also a great area to relax , the heated pool is a large size too, all 12 of us were frequently in at the same time! The Chateau makes for a truly remarkable holiday! You can really take it as easy or make it as active as you want because there are plenty of different activities to do in the local area.
The quintessential chateau experience
Located in idyllic surroundings, this is the place to come to for the quintessential French Chateau experience. From the perfectly proportioned and beautifully decorated rooms, to the regal vista down the entire valley this place has it all. The grounds are equally exquisite, set within the surrounding Pyrenees, with its beautiful and serene Koi & goldfish pond, the mature bamboo forest, to the tended rose bushes. Yet, none of this is at the expense of modern comforts; there is a fully kitted kitchen, power showers, a heated pool, UK SKY TV and wifi. This is certainly the place to come to get away from it all and to return rested and ready to face the world again. Truly stunning.
A Very Special Place
The Chateau made a fabulous setting for a very special family holiday; there were 11 of us, ages ranging from 2-70, and we were very comfortably accommodated within the main house. From its hilltop position, there are incredible views across the valley and towards the mountains; the garden is extensive and amazing and the adults and children alike spent many happy hours playing hide and seek, watching the fish, ducks and the majestic swans, chatting to the donkeys, swimming, playing table tennis, swinging in the hammock, marvelling at the array of trees and shrubs, picking fruits and herbs and generally relaxing. The house is breathtaking, both outside and in, and has been lovingly restored to its intended grandeur by the owners, who have included many personal touches which serve to ensure this is a unique and unforgettable home, not a soulless holiday rental. The housekeeper is a gem, and her cooking on a couple of evenings made our stay extra special. Thank you 'G & TP' for making your home available!
Splendidly opulent yet simply blissful. A delight!
This magnificent Chateau is a much loved and cherished home and an absolute joy for any blessed souls fortunate enough to spend time there. The house itself is beautiful and oozes charm and history. It has been lovingly and artfully restored in a way that makes it delightfully opulent and splendid yet still homely and supremely comfortable. The magnificent library with a lifetime of reading, the beautiful artifacts, antiques and paintings make this something very special. The kitchen is fabulous and reflects the owners' love of cooking with every conceivable implement and culinary gadget at your fingertips. Conjuring up exotic feasts from the abundant local produce is a joy and the magical family banquets that result will feed unique memories that you will take away and keep a lifetime. The gardens are breathtaking as they evolve through each day with the changing light and seasons. The pool, the steam room, hours of table tennis and boules on the lawn all add to the cherished moments you will have here at this splendid Chateau. The enticing area that surrounds offers endless opportunities to explore, learn, discover and delight at the plethora of villages, markets, mountains, rivers, ancient edifices, delightful folk and all kinds of wonders that await you. Take your family, your friends, your lovers to this truly blissful property for the perfect holiday and the most rewarding and exquisite escape from the world. You will be so very glad you did. I wish we were back there right now and know that we will return. Many thanks to the thoughtful owners for sharing their home and their passion with others. What a joy!
Magnificent! Great class and stunning gardens
We spent 2 blissful weeks over Christmas and New Year: the Chateau is exquisite, full of charm, character, beautiful objects and class. A real gem in the foothills of the Pyrenees with commanding views of the mountains and the gently sloping valley below. The garden is worthy of RHS listing and the bedrooms are enormous, comfortable and breathtakingly decorated, whilst featuring the most beautiful parquet floors we have ever seen. We'll come back again for Summer so we'll be able to use the huge pool and see the hundreds of roses in bloom. Thank you.
This beautiful Chateau has it all: charm, elegance, antiques, comforts, location, views to die for, a large heated pool, a sauna, an incredible garden, croquet lawn, nearby facilities and charming farmers markets, huge kitchen, privacy and even a bamboo forest! We loved it all!
A dream holiday for the whole family
Our whole family spent 2 fantastic weeks in this luxurious chateau in September'16: the weather was fantastic, sunny and dry throughout, thus allowing us to make full use of the beautiful, heated pool, the gorgeous garden (one of the prettiest and most extensive we've ever visited), the croquet lawn, the BBQ and the wonderful steam room. This is a true, comfortable, yet grand home with all mods con and hundreds of incredible period features: we couldn't have found a better property and a nicer location. Thank you to the wonderful owners for allowing us the pleasure to stay in their wonderful home.
