Le Domaine Fleuri

Overview

Exclusive Recommended Pool Ideal for Kids Pets Welcome

Le Domaine Fleuri is much more than just a luxury villa in the Languedoc. It’s a unique and beautiful estate which is the much-loved home of two authors in love with the region. It has also been featured in several home decorating books and has been the backdrop for a cookbook.

The property is made up of two magnificent homes; a beautifully restored ancient stone farmhouse and a restored Maison de Maître. There is also a rustic deluxe cabin in the woods plus a recent addition - a fabulous treehouse between the oak trees, made lovingly by hand by the owners themselves.

Furnishings and equipment are beautiful and of high quality and create a comfortable and attractive home for guests There are antiques, gorgeous modern pieces (many of them bespoke and handmade), pottery, artwork and a personal collection of American quilts (the owner is also a quilt collector and historian). Each house has its own well stocked brand new ‘chef's’ kitchen with high-end equipment.

In the farmhouse, everything is totally air-conditioned whilst the Maison de Maître enjoys huge thick walls, keeping it remarkably cool and fresh throughout the summer. There are also two charming and well-equipped outdoor kitchens and dining areas, plus a fabulous newly built BBQ area with grills (charcoal and gas), planchas and paella burners.

The cabin in the woods is a romantic hideaway with two beautiful leafy terraces, one of which has its own mini-kitchen for alfresco coffee and drinks. The treehouse is for the adventurous and romantic who will adore the amazing views from its terrace and the trees that weave their way through the house.

Outdoors, the private and tranquil grounds are beautiful and full of parkland (10 acres) with terraces, lawns (one with a pond and fountain), flower gardens, woodland and a swimming pool with views over rolling fields of sunflowers and lavender. Below the Maison de Maître is a meandering lavender garden with meditation bench and lots of hammocks are tucked away throughout the grounds.

For the energetic there are eight bicycles, pétanque, table tennis and badminton. There is also a gym and a large range of good exercise equipment including an elliptical machine, weights, bench and trax.

The estate faces the foothills of the Cévennes mountains and is surrounded by rolling hills of vineyards, sunflowers and evergreen oak. Situated on a little hill and built around a tree shaded courtyard, it is a beautiful and tranquil little hamlet with glorious 360-degree views. The estate has been lovingly converted by the creative owners over 25 years. Evidence of a Roman temple has been found just below the property.

Le Domaine Fleuri is wonderfully located; only a few kilometers from the fabulous and utterly charming rural villages of Sauve and Sommieres. The area is abundant with local vineyards, like Pic St Loup and Faugères, beautiful walks and ancient villages with colourful markets, restaurants and art and craft galleries. Beaches are only 45 minutes away whilst river swimming and canoeing or kayaking are only 20 minutes away. There are plenty of festivals, exhibitions and musical events in local villages and towns, such as Nîmes (35 min), Montpellier (45 min), Uzès (40 min), Arles (50 min), Sète (60 min), Avignon (60 min) and fine cultural sites such as the Pont-du-Gard (50 min).

It’s not surprising that many guests come back to Le Domaine Fleuri year after year and say that it’s nothing short of paradise. The owners think the same.

Region

Languedoc-Roussillon is one of those areas of France where you can feel like you’re totally cut off from the rest of the country. Commercial tourism has been very slow to capitalise on the region, meaning you can still enjoy a slice of authentic French rural life at its finest. A mixture of landscapes also makes it a great place to visit, with a good stretch of coastline offering a totally different experience to more bucolic interiors. Whatever you’re looking for, our range of villas and chateaux in Languedoc means you can get exactly the kind of holiday you want with accommodation that’s perfectly tailored to you, your friends and your family.

We are quite enchanted by the lovely home! Every one is here now by the pool. The children are so excited by the tree house. Thank you so much!

  • Thank you so much

We had the most fantastic time and found everything at Le Domaine Fleuri was perfect. We did not spend much time indoors as you can imagine, but all the family enjoyed their stay and found their rooms very comfortable. We made the most of the pool especially as it was so hot!!
Alain was there to greet us when we arrived and gave us some useful ideas for things to see and do. We visited a local vineyard and went to into Sauve for lunch one day and then went back for Les Jeudis! And enjoyed an evening of entertainment!
Everything at Perdiguier was catered for and convenient for all the family and we had no problems at all. We have spent lots of time remembering our holiday memories and would love to come back one day.

  • French Paradise

Posted by David R. on 02/07/2016

We recently enjoyed a most wonderful four weeks at Le Domaine Fleuri with family and friends. The property and its surrounds were everything we expected and more. A most beautiful mix of charming character in a stunning hill top location. Outdoors or indoors you are spoilt for choice, between the wonderful outdoor kitchen or the atmospheric 16th century vaulted dining room. The shade under the tree, or the swimming pool in the sun - endless choices. On a practical level the property was well maintained, clean and well appointed with everything you would need. The gardens were just a delight, with abundant flowers and the scents of lavender. Any issues or queries were dealt with wonderfully by the property manager (thank you Alain) and also by the owners if required. Special thanks also to Josianne and Nicolas from the nearby village of Sauve, who catered a most wonderful meal for our family at the house, to celebrate a milestone birthday. Lots to do around the area, favourites being kayaking on and swimming in the local rivers and of course the beautiful old towns and villages which surround. The biggest difficulty was leaving at the end of our stay - but we will have the memories forever. Thank you.

  • One week in French paradise

This exceeded our wildest expectations! What a fabulous place. It's like you're in your own private hamlet on the top of a hill. We'd seen the pictures and read the description of Le Domaine Fleuri so knew that it was likely to be perfect for our week of birthday celebrations with 14 adults taking over the 8 rooms. We were blown away though by the space, the level of comfort and the high spec. Everything on the website by way of description is true but more so. It feels like a cross between home and a boutique hotel. Lazy days by the pool or sitting in the cool living areas, leisurely lunches prepared in the well appointed kitchens, gathering for sunset drinks and evening outdoor dining, eating our finds from the local supermarkets and markets. Loads of fridge space to store your local wines, beers and food. The outdoor kitchen has loads of room to set up your bar and even has its own iPod docking station so bring your music. Other than the daily trip for provisions, the occasional walk and a half day trip to Montpellier none of us felt the need to be away too long. Although we spent much time together, there are plenty of spaces (indoor and out) for escape and quiet time with a cold drink or Nespresso coffee and a book. We had a local caterer, Josianne and her chef Nicolas, prepare the birthday gala dinner which was fantastic. We thoroughly recommend spoiling yourselves at least once. Thanks to Ian for a thorough briefing and tour on arrival and smooth handover when we left and also to Philippe for the daily recycling trip and for keeping the grounds so bright. Never before have we found it so hard to go back work and real life after a holiday. Just marvellous.

  • Perfect for a family holiday

    Created on 11/07/2015

We went as an extended family of 8 adults and 5 children - 3 of whom were toddlers. The layout of the property was ideal as each family had their own house! Having said this we were mainly together during the days! The house is truly beautiful but still feels like a home so we were all able to relax Zaro had gone to great trouble to prepare for the little ones. She set up their bedroom perfectly and went to the trouble of getting suitable toys out for them. This was much appreciated. The shopping was very easy - we had a quick drive to Quissac which provided absolutely everything we needed. Many a happy evening was spent on the terrace by the summer kitchen where we enjoyed many meals prepared by a local caterer Josiane and delivered to us in the early evening by the chef Nicolas for us to heat through and serve ourselves. For a special occasion Josiane and Nicolas prepared and served the meal at Perdiguier - a real feast! Ian was a really useful source of local information and looked after us very well. The departure process was very easy. Phillipe (the gardener and handyman) was a real star and tended the grounds beautifully. It was lovely to chat to him in the evening. The only negative to the holiday was the intense and unusual heat the whole region was suffering - but this was in no way the fault of the property! It was a joy to retreat to the air conditioning of the cabin in the woods which itself was a pleasure to stay in. Thank you so much for a lovely holiday

  • A splendid time

Posted by Bart P. on 27/08/2014

Dear Gareth & Zaro, we look back to a splendid time in Sauve! All info as on the website can be confirmed. On the contrary, you are too modest in formulating the facilities of the house. When we entered it, we were super guested! Nice, spacious, super clean, cozy, perfect entertained garden, and the views,…! Our group of 3 families with 6 adults and 7 children could be hosted without any problem what means lots of space in the two independent stone houses. Comfortable bed rooms with each high standard bath rooms, all accommodated with luxury furniture in different styles, from Eastern to Southern, to modern (Kartell). Thanks to the very comfortable and up to date kitchens fully equipped, we enjoyed several dinners at home. The outdoor kitchen with gas BBQ was our place to be. Ringing the ancient bell, and every one of our company somewhere present on the huge site was there in a minute for breakfast, an aperol, etc… Each time an experience. Privacy is guaranteed. Even with different families together, somewhere in the houses or on the site, you can find a place to relax on your own. The facilities for the kids are superb (TV rooms, badminton, Bicycles, gym area,…). The availability of bed-linen, the free access and usage of house equipment (towels, 3 washing machines, dryer,…) are a plus. The large swimming pool annex terrace and an extra indoor shower room and toilet guarantee a relaxed and comfortable stay in the sun with magnificent views on the Cevennes. Very exciting is the cabin in the woods, with his 2 terraces, hanging baskets and plants, completely furnished for a romantic stay,…What we also admired is all the artisanal pottery in the house. All this art and equipment can be used by the guests! And for any practical or technical question, just give a phone call to the housekeeper Ian, and the day itself, he’s there to help you! Again many thanks from all of us, we really have enjoyed the stay at Le Domaine Fleuri and love to come back. (Belgium)

  • A lovely corner of France

Posted by Kaye B. on 30/07/2014

We all had a fantastic stay! It's a wonderful location, perched above the surrounding countryside with mountains in the distance, and of course the two villas are absolutely gorgeous - not forgetting the cabin in the woods - and really well appointed. We enjoyed lunches and the occasional dinner in the outdoor kitchen, but most dinners were in the orangerie. We had some wonderful day trips to local markets in Sommières, Quissac, Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort and St-Jean-du-Gard. Uzès was a treat (especially the medieval garden and climb up the tower) as was Arles and the Pont du Gard. Perdiguer Haut was a great place to relax, talk, eat and read, and we enjoyed having so many different spaces to relax in - hammocks, garden settings, poolside and many convivial outdoor areas. We have many wonderful memories and lots of photos to remind us of your lovely corner of France. Many thanks and our best wishes. (Sydney - Australia)

  • We were all thoroughly impressed

Posted by Norman and Brenda B. and family on 01/05/2014

For my 60th birthday, I decided that my wife and I would take a trip to Europe and spend a week In Southern France. We then decided to invite our four sons and their companions/wives and our two grandchildren. We have rented several homes in the past via the Internet and have always had good luck. After some surfing, I located the home at Perdiguier which fit our criteria, the Provence region and something reasonably close to the Mediterranean. With eleven people we needed something offering the amenities that we enjoy here in the U.S.
Our family flew into Paris and took the high speed train to Nîmes, which is about a half hour from the house. The train ride was the most comfortable means of travel that we’ve ever done and the trip was only a three hour ride. When we arrived at the house we were greeted by Ian, the house manager who gave us the tour of the houses and explained the minor details that were so helpful. I would say that all of us were pretty awestruck at the beautiful hilltop retreat that consisted of not one house or two, but actually three including the cabin in the woods. There were two main outdoor kitchens, one near the main house and one adjacent to the pool, that both looked like they had been featured in one of the Better Homes magazines. We used both of them extensively during the daytime and then migrated indoors in the evening. Both outdoor kitchens were as functional as indoor kitchens and contained multitudes of utensils and dishes, with everything functionally arranged as if it it had been custom designed.
The main house had an awesome French country kitchen that was simple but tastefully beautiful and a dining room that was quite large and authentic 16th century. The upstairs bedrooms were all unique in size and shape with beautiful antique furnishings.
The second house had a duplicate main kitchen and dining room and bedroom, that would have had more than enough space for all of us if it were the only house. Perhaps the thing that amazed us the most were the absolutely amazing beautiful dishes, plates, glasses and bowls that looked as if each one had been purchased separately with an artistry goal in mind. The cottage in the woods was a large one room cottage with large bathroom that again contained every amenity needed. It was close to the other houses but yet far enough to provide a perfect reading sanctuary in the heart of the woods. In total, we were all thoroughly impressed with the originality of each house, the beautiful French country furnishings, the amazing dishes and eatery as well as the immaculate private grounds and large on grounds pool. I can’t think of any amenity anyone could ask for that wasn’t there and almost everything you needed was duplicated in multiple locations. Everything was perfectly maintained and the ambience truly afforded us all a very restful and satisfying vacation in Southern France. I did daily morning trips to the local bakeries in Sauve and Quissac, and we frequented some of the local restaurants which were all great with friendly service. Although no one in our party spoke French, we all knew enough words to get by and did have some pretty comical stories. It is without hesitation that I highly recommend this property as I feel it would exceed anyone’s highest expectations. We have stayed in a fair number of rental homes and I’d have to say this was truly the most amazing property that we’ve seen, and my views were shared by everyone in our party. If anyone needs a reference on the property, please ask the owners to contact me. (New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA)
