A newly built villa on a quiet private road just outside the heart of Bandol, Villa Chabal exudes modern flair and will impress you with its sense of space. Open-plan living allows you to cook, dine and relax with floor to ceiling windows opening out to the shaded terrace and landscaped garden. Four elegant bedrooms each feature their own dressing room and en suite whilst some have terraces looking out towards the sea.

As well as the striking cinema room downstairs, the pièce de resistance is surely the pool house, such a stylish place to kick back with its summer lounge and kitchen, just perfect for leisurely lunches by the poolside. Cool off in the super contemporary swimming pool in its own private corner surrounded by decked terracing, Mediterranean plants and chic poolside furnishing.  

Set in the neighbourhood just outside the heart of Bandol, you can stroll to atmospheric cafes and restaurants as well as Bandol’s shops and picturesque town beaches. A much-loved French Riviera resort, full of charm and less glitzy than some other Côte d'Azur towns, wander around the historic marina or hop on a ferry to the very pretty Île de Bendor to soak up its artistic vibe.

Further stretches of sandy shores and watersports await a short drive away around the Sanary-sur-Mer and Six-Four-Les-Plages coastline or head to the Forêt de Janas for walking, mountain biking and coastal hikes. You may prefer to spend your time pottering around bustling Provençal markets, admiring wonderful views or even visiting the great maritime city of Toulon for yet more culture, history and incredible scenery.

Villa Chabal is located just outside the centre of Bandol in the Var department of the Côte d'Azur, around 17km west of the maritime city of Toulon.

In a quiet residential area and located on a private road, you can stroll into the heart of Bandol at a leisurely pace, passing through the neighbourhood and under the railway line before you reach Quai Charles de Gaulle, the harbour, the palm-lined promenade and one of the town beaches. There is a vibrant yet relaxed vibe across this historic seaside town which is home to one of France’s largest marinas and many characterful sailing boats. The weekly market takes place on a Tuesday morning and there are lots of shops, atmospheric restaurants and charming cafes scattered across the town.

The beaches in and around Bandol are mainly sandy and offer a range of summer watersports. The sheltered bay of Plage de Renécros is especially beautiful with gently shelving water whilst keen walkers can follow coastal trails towards rocky coves and incredible scenery. Boats from Bandol usually take you across to the unique and private Île de Bendor for more lovely walks, beaches and views as well as an artist’s village and a small handful of restaurants.

Sanary-sur-Mer (10km) is a delightful seaside town to visit with its weekly market, picturesque harbour and overall Mediterranean ambience. Close by, Plage de Bonnegrâce is a great spot for watersports, as is Plage de la Coudoulière a little further south – windsurfing is especially popular when the mistral wind is strong. There are some fantastic walking trails through this region’s woodland, including the Janas forest, and yet more hikes along the vast Six-Four-Les-Plages coastline.

The attractive promenade by the long sandy beach at Plage des Sablettes (20km) hosts atmospheric markets on summer evenings in July and August, also close to the beautiful Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer peninsula and popular La Seyne-sur-Mer fishing town.

Toulon is another great day out with its museums, markets, shops and other attractions. Marvel at the views from Mont Faron, reached via cable car from Toulon, or take a ferry across to Îles d'Hyères for yet more idyllic scenery. You can reach Toulon by car in around 17km or catch a train from Bandol’s station.

In the other direction towards Marseille, enjoy a lunch out in the charming fishing village of Cassis (30km), now a popular seaside resort and gateway to Les Calanques, one of Provence’s greatest natural attractions.

With endless beaches, stunning forests and some fantastic family attractions, this relaxed part of the French Riviera appeals to all ages for a variety of reasons.

Bandol itself has a number of superb beaches, some with summer cafes or restaurants and many offering a range of watersports. Families will also love strolling around one of France’s largest marinas which is home to characterful sailing boats alongside impressive yachts. 

Boats leave Bandol to the unique and privately owned Île de Bendor where there are more watersports, beaches, swimming opportunities and an overall artistic vibe. There are also ferries from nearby Toulon across to the idyllic and very beautiful Îles d'Hyères.

Heading south, discover yet more fantastic stretches of coastline around Sanary-sur-Mer and Six-Four-Les-Plages. When the mistral wind blows, take advantage of the great windsurfing on Plage de Bonnegrâce and Plage de la Coudoulière.
Across the Janas forest, find mountain biking and hiking trails, some incredible coastal walks and a popular adventure centre for children which offers trampolines, nets, slides, tunnels and more.

Then there’s the wonderful sandy Plage des Sablettes just south of La Seyne-sur-Mer – it’s especially atmospheric in the summer months as night markets take place in July and August.
