The buildings we understand date back 300 to 400 years and it used to be a vineyard and then a working farm.

Yes, but they don’t want to be known…

For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
Visit the beautiful medieval villages, St Savin Cathedral and local cafes, bars and chateaux…   The rivers are superb as is the kayaking!
Really eat?
All the local food is good but we especially recommend eating in the beautiful local village of Angles Sur L’Anglin…
Really see?
The local countryside, nature and local villages..

What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?

  • A truly lovely place!

    Posted by Esther on 09/09/2019

We stayed at Manior De Trebuchet for a week and had the most wonderful time. The house and grounds are beautiful and impeccably kept. We enjoyed hours each day in the stunning pool and the children loved going on early morning rambles through the woods at the back of the property. It was enchanting to watch the deer which visited the garden daily. Our hosts were brilliant - a mine of local information and were willing to do anything to help. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to enjoy and peaceful, relaxing holiday.

  • Rest and Relaxation in rural France!

    Posted by Rob on 31/08/2019

We have just returned from 2 fantastic weeks of rest and relaxation in this amazing property, this was our first house holiday in France and it didn't disappoint. Thank you to Gillian and Charles who were great hosts that clearly work very hard. Whilst not intrusive they were always busy ensuring the property looked its best and were happy to provide information on the local area. We enjoyed our restful days by the pool so much we forgot about most of the day trips we had planned which gives us a great reason to return! Our children played safely in the extensive grounds and we all enjoyed spotting the local wildlife. A really relaxing holiday for those who enjoy the slower pace of French rural life.

  • The perfect week

    Posted by Simon on 10/09/2018

From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice. Gillian and Charles, the attentive but never intrusive hosts, made us feel so welcome. The house is perfect for a family to relax together and the pool, which was maintained daily, allowed for hours of fun and games. So much to see and do locally but we found ourselves just enjoying the Manoir and it's beautifully maintained grounds. Butterflies flutter by as you enjoy breakfast on the terrace and tiny lizards lounge with you in the afternoon sun. We enjoyed our time here immensely and hope to return very soon.

  • Perfect isolated location!

  • Words can't describe how utterly perfect this place is

We had a truly magnificent 2 weeks at Manoir de Trebuchet. Everything about the farmhouse, pool & grounds were superb & fantastically maintained by the owner Gill, the hard work to make this place so special was greatly appreciated. Our host exhibited culinary talent when kindly cooking for us on a couple of occasions. Weather was fantastic, surrounding area towns & villages so quaint. The walks from the house stunning a different day a different walk discovering something new all the time, our 2 dogs loved it. Overall holiday experience had to be 5 star +++ & we can't wait to return next year.

Just back from one of the best holidays ever!

Manoir De Trebuchet is somewhere to go if you want to get away from the rat race and enjoy properly unwinding.

It's down a long winding lane that is so quiet you don't mind the kids going off on their bikes. The pool is secure and close enough to the house that you can keep an eye on them, but not need to be constantly watching.

My only regret - we didn't book for longer!

And our hosts Gill & Charles deserve special mention for helping to make our holiday so special.

    Thank you

  • Great location for cyclists and runners

Posted by Elisabeth C on 21/08/2017

A very well appointed and comfortable house. The kids loved the heated pool which meant they didn't mind the indifferent weather.

Lovely location backing onto miles of trails which were fantastic for running and cycling. Our children loved being able to cycle on a traffic free route to St Savin.

  • A slice of heaven!

Posted by Sally M. on 20/07/2017

This beautiful house is absolutely stunning. It is stylish, spacious and so comfortable. We loved everything about it. Trebuchet lies in the heart of French countryside flanked by fields of corn and sunflowers. The house is set in acres of lovely grounds bordered by woods with deer that sometimes graze quietly in the garden. Such peace and tranquility - a completely stress-free zone. Gillian is a wonderful host - warm and friendly.but very discreet and professional. She prepared a delicious platter for our first evening - very welcome after a long journey and highly recommended. We enjoyed relaxing by the beautiful pool and in the garden. We loved the charming villages nearby - St Savin is nearest (6 mins) with a good supermarket, patisserie, restaurants and an interesting abbey. The horse racing in La Roche Posay was good fun and there is also a casino there with a good restaurant. We loved Angles sur l'Anglin and Montmorillon - there's something for everyone within striking distance of the house. We have stayed in lots of lovely homes in France but Trebuchet is the very best. It is paradise.

A wonderful villa in the middle of beautiful rural France. A relaxing week with our 2 young children, with lots of privacy, space and a beautiful pool. Gillian was a great host, preparing a lovely platter for our arrival, and making sure we had everything we needed. Idyllic French villages are a short drive away, and conoeing on the nearby river is a fun way to spend a day. We would definitely recommend Manoir De Trebuchet for a week away with family and friends.
