Chateau Tournesol is a 17th Century castle situated in the beautiful region of Gascony, it has been lovingly restored by its owners with all the amenities one needs, let's just say it's fit for a king!

The castle will make you feel like you are in another world, set amongst sunflower fields, the atmosphere couldn't be more tranquil and relaxing.

It lies in the centre of a historical region, only 10km from Nerac, where one can visit the castle of King Henri IV of Navarre. There are also many more activities available for you at the castle such as, horse-riding and hot air balloon rides...

The Chateau Boasts many huge and wonderful rooms. Mostly Situated in the East wing of the castle the rooms are spacious and comfortable, beautifully furnished and offer magnificent views over the parks.

The Sun Room and The Regent Room (sleep 7 in total)
Situated in the East Wing of the castle, these spacious and comfortable rooms, beautifully furnished, offer magnificent views over the parks. They also offer a lounge-dining room with a small kitchen, from which you can directly access the park.

Event information

Château Tournesol 

Step through an archway into a charming fountained courtyard to arrive at this picture book venue in Gascony. Enveloped by beautiful views, there are just so many places to host your wedding within this 17th century castle and its tranquil surroundings, such as dining beneath a stylish marquee on the huge grassy terrace overlooking the manicured vineyards, where there’s so much space for your guests to mingle. Magical photographic memories can be made in the grand interiors, the cedar gardens, on ancient stone steps, between the vines and around the pool. Don’t forget to try a glass of fine Château de Tournesol red, sure to smooth the path of your celebrations. 

Wedding Reception

An unlimited number of guests could be seated on the grassy back terrace for the reception or up to 80 in the Cedar Garden in the grounds. 

Inside the château, a reception for up to 50 people could take place in the Vivaldi room. 

Smaller groups are able to dance indoors while dancing for larger groups takes place outdoors. Music can continue as late as you like as there are no music restrictions at this property. 

Wedding Ceremony

A ceremony for up to 60 people could take place in the château and outside for larger groups. 

The venue is able to supply details of an English-speaking celebrant. 

Where to Stay

21 people can sleep in the château and over 100 guests can be accommodated in hotels and B&Bs nearby. 

The owners can supply details of local transport firms. 

Wedding Planning

The owners can recommend an English-speaking wedding planner or clients may arrange their own. 

Catering

The owners can recommend local caterers or clients may arrange their own. 

The château has its own vineyards which produce wine that can be used at the event. Other information Groups of over 50 people need to hire a marquee for outdoor dining. 

The minimum stay for an event is 3 nights. 

Please note that any event rental may be subject to additional charges, venue hire fees and to a higher security deposit, which will be in addition to any published rental rates and fees. All events are on request only and subject to prior agreement from the owner, who reserves the right to refuse all events without their prior authorisation.

How long have you owned the property?
Since 2011.

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The surrounding countryside and vineyards, the imprint of history in the chateau, thee 55 hectares which provide magnificent views. Its the ideal location for a group of friends to gather at an exceptional venue and escape reality for a few days.

Are there any interesting stories in its history?
It was in 1676 that Paul Mazelières, Governor of Albret, became the owner of the fief of Espiens and built the Castle inspired by the shape of the Tuileries after approval and ratification by letter of Louis XIV.

    What a stunning Chateau, a complete dream and incredible stay! We stayed here for 3 nights after coming for a wedding in the South of France. This was the perfect stay after a busy few days! Perfect and peaceful with the most beautiful views from every direction. Philippe who welcomed us when we arrived was the perfect host and always happy to help. He gave us two amazing recommendation to eat for lunch and supper which both were superb. Definitely would recommend. Thanks again!

    We were looking for somewhere to stay for a few days to relax.......and wow, we found somewhere special. This truly is a magnificent Chateau set in acres of vineyards. Philippe is fantastic, talking us through the history of the Chateau and vineyards. I'm not sure if it was just being in the moment, but the 2012 Chateau De Tournesol wine (red) was rather special. Philippe also provided us with some great recommendations for food and local site seeing. The rooms and bathrooms are vast, we had our own kitchen and lounge and the breakfast provided was plentiful with good variety. We've enjoyed Tournesol so much we're staying an extra night. Serene, peaceful, tranquil, extremely well kept......a must!!

  • Très bel endroit parfait pour un séminaire

    Au coeur de la nature et des vignes. Nous avons passé 2 jours de séminaire et 2 nuits au château de Mazelieres, tout était parfait. Le châtelain est très sympa et à l'écoute. Mention spéciale pour le foie gras (et l'atelier pour apprendre à le préparer), les chambres immenses et le calme. Je recommande!

    I stayed at this chateau with a group of friends and my parents. We were secretly hoping it would be as good as the photos and our expectations (we kept joking that something this good surely couldn't be real). Well it was. And not only was the chateau beautiful, we were treated to some of the best hospitality from our host Philippe. We were really made to feel at home, and our entire group (10!) were invited to have a drink with Philippe. The pool was the perfect place to relax beside on the hot days and it was hard to leave after our three night stay. We hope to be able to return.

    My girlfriend and I spent a weekend at the Chateau in June and totally fell in love with the place and our amazing host, Philippe! He was so friendly and accommodating. We were there for a wedding in the area and he even ironed my suit for me! Every morning we had breakfast outside overlooking the manicured vineyard and went for a walk around the Chateau grounds. It is such a serene experience and an excellent value for the money. My girlfriend loved the vintage claw tub, we stayed in the Chateau and the room was extremely spacious with views of the vineyard and wedding chapel. Although we didn't get a chance to check out the pool, we walked by to check it out and it looks even better than what you see in the pictures. As stated previously, we were there to attend a wedding and the location is so secluded, getting a taxi is something that must be arranged ahead of time. Again, Philippe responded immediately to my email when making the booking and had the taxi ready for us for every trip over to the where the wedding was being held. Although there is Wi-Fi at the Chateau, this is the perfect place to unplug and drink in the atmosphere. For families and couples alike, this is one of the best experiences in the region.
