Region

The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.

The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

  • Fabulous family holiday!

    on 02/09/2018

Thank you so much, we had a wonderful time in your lovely home. It is such a beautiful house and was the perfect holiday for us all - even my father thought it was the loveliest house we have stayed in, in all our holidays in France and he is an architect who specialises in listed buildings back home!

Anyway thanks again for all your help with everything before we arrived and for organising the chef who was fantastic.

  • Lovely place

    on 29/08/2017

We all thoroughly enjoyed staying at the beautiful house you have there in what is a really lovely location. Plenty of space, privacy, garden, fantastic pool etc. to relax and enjoy some time away.

  • Happy memories!

    on 22/08/2017

The house is lovely. It is clearly a place of many happy memories for your family and this made it all the more special. The owners were wonderful and we enjoyed our discussions with both of them. We wish you many happy family gatherings in your beautiful house and we will be sure to pass on the address to those looking for an authentic experience in the Southwest of France.

  • Truly Remarkable

    on 15/08/2017

We all thoroughly enjoyed staying at this beautiful house, in what is a really lovely location. Plenty of space, privacy, garden, fantastic pool etc to relax and enjoy some time away. Whilst we had a few cloudy / rainy days, we had plenty of time to explore the area, a few local markets and sample the local produce!

Martine was very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed meeting Raphael, the Chef, and he produced a delicious meal for us on the Monday evening - a great idea!

  • A treasured and family loved house

    on 09/09/2016

Robert, we're just back from our 3 weeks away and our week in your gorgeous house was the first week, We had a wonderful time. Thank you. Your house is perfect. The pool house, the pool, the views, the terraces to enjoy meals and drinks. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with what we needed, and apologies, one ramekin and one wine glass were broken and we left money to cover this on leaving and told Martine. Martine was lovely and communicated everything we might need to know. It was incredibly comfortable and we had a very lovely week, visiting markets, and simply relaxing. It was lovely to be staying in what is obviously a very treasured and family loved house. I looked at a picture book of a celebration a few years ago and strangely recognised Austin Harrigan who I met last year at a friend's 40th. Small world. I presume he might be a friend of one of your children…Anyway, we had a very special time. My daughter got very up to speed with her swimming and is a very confident little fish now, so thank you for that too! Do hope you've had a good summer and thank you also for the very lovely wine on arrival. Many thanks again to you and your family for giving our family a truly memorable week at Chateau Segalas.
