Overview

Pool Ideal for Kids Walk to Beach Walk to Village

Situated on the edge of 230 hectares of unspoilt forest, just a ten minutes’ walk to the beautiful beaches of Anglet, on the Pyrénées-Atlantique, Les Landes is a spectacular example of modern architecture. With accommodation for up to 14 guests, across a bright interior boasting high-end finishes and spectacular design elements, you’ll find this chic retreat a perfect place to relax in.

Upon arrival you’ll take in the breath-taking stature of this unique dwelling, set over three levels surrounded by lush vegetation. The main terraced level offers a stunning open plan living-kitchen-dining area, streaming in the Basque sunshine to illuminate this spectacular room, through walls of floor-to-ceiling windows. With stylish furniture, and stunning design features such as a suspended fireplace and sweeping staircase, you’ll be wowed by its well-crafted style. With several sliding doors open onto the wonderful decked terraced, the line of outside-inside living is beautifully blurred.

Delightful bedrooms can be found across all levels of the villa, each tastefully finished with bright neutral décor, and high-end design features. On the upper levels they also benefit from walls of floor-to-ceiling windows that drench the room with natural light. A master and 3 further doubles reside on the first level, whilst a children’s area can be found on the garden level with bunk and twin rooms, ideal for giving adults a little space to themselves. An additional 20m2 guest house can be found on the terrace level, with a double and single room and shared bathroom, making this a great space for those requiring a little distance from the main house.

The lovely grounds that encompass the villa include a pretty, well-maintained garden area and the spectacular terrace that adjoins the entire circumference of the home. As you push back the doors from the grand living space and step outside onto plush decking, you might choose to recline on the stylish seating area with cocktail in hand, ready to watch the sun go down on another beautiful day. Or perhaps you’re wanting to cool off in the glistening waters of the luxury pool. Or for those culinary enthusiasts you may want to cook some locally caught seafood on the Plancha BBQ, serving it up to your loved ones on the dining table, eating al fresco as a canopy of stars appears above you.

In the immediate area around Les Landes, you’ll find a small number of quiet residential roads before you’re greeted by the beautiful Chiberta Forest just a short walk away. Hiking, cycling, horse riding and canopy ziplines can all be found in this bewitching woodland.

And if it’s beach life you’re after, just a ten-minute walk away in the opposite direction, you’ll be dipping your toes in the refreshing waters of the Atlantic, spoiled by 6km of dynamic coastline just north of the vibrant town of Biarritz, offering some of the best surf in the world. You’ll find shops, bars and restaurants and a fantastic golf course just minutes from the villa, but with Biarritz only a 10-minute drive away you’ll have plenty of choice within easy reach.

Les Landes rests in a quiet residential road just a short walk from the beautiful Chiberta forest, in the wonderful region of Anglet in the Pyrénées-Atlantique. Just a ten-minute walk to the nearest beach, you’ll be situated just 8km north of the vibrant town of Biarritz, the jewel in the crown of this spectacular stretch of coastline. With beach restaurants and bars within walking distance you’ll have everything you might need right on your doorstep.

The surrounding area is a haven for activities. The enchanting 230 hectares of woodland that lies just moments from your door offers guests a wide variety, from horse riding, hiking, cycling and fitness trials to suspended walkways and adrenaline infused ziplines for the more adventurous.

In just ten minutes’ walk in the opposite direction you’ll find a multitude of sandy beaches covering 4.5 kilometres, featuring some of the most sought-after waves in the world. Head to the quiet La Barre beach with your family where you’ll find an Ice rink, lake, skate-park, and the beautiful Izadia ecological park. Or perhaps you’ll want to catch one of the many spectacular surf competitions at Les Cavaliers beach. With 11 beaches along this stretch, you’ll discover the perfect spot whatever your needs are.

In addition, if you’re a golf lover, you’ll find one of the most prestigious golf courses in the country, NAS Chiberta Golf Course just a few minutes from the villa. And with an amass of cycle paths and long coastal walks on offer in the immediate area, together with a wide choice of cafés, restaurants, bars, even a thermal spa, just minutes from the villa, so you’ll never be short of an abundance of activities staying at Les Landes.

If you’re looking to experience a little more hustle and bustle, you’re lucky enough to have the lively town of Biarritz just ten minutes’ drive south of the villa. An elegant seaside resort, Biarritz dates back to the 19th century when aristocracy built their summer residences along this part of the coast, including the well-known Hotel du Palais, built by the wife of Napoleon III on the famous La Grande Plage. You will find some superb restaurants in the Port des Pecheurs, the former fishing port, where ordering some beautifully fresh seafood is a must. Food lovers don’t miss the fantastic market at the Halles de Biarritz, offering many wonderful Basque specialties, from delicious touron (marzipan), succulent locally cured ham as well as mussels, mushrooms and so much more.

A lovely atmosphere can be found around the Port Vieux where you’ll discover a tiny sheltered beach loved by locals and the town’s main shopping street, Rue Port Vieux. Beautiful Art Deco buildings can be appreciated all around the town and especially along the beach, including the casino (also home to a theatre and swimming pool) and the Aquarium, which is a must for sea-lovers or families. Another one of the town’s highlights is the incredible Rocher of the Vierge peninsular, which can be visited via the Eiffel bridge that connects it to the mainland or the fascinating lighthouse in the northern part of the town where you’ll find some incredible views.

Other coastal areas that are definitely worth a visit include the picturesque town of Ciboure (28km) to the south where Matisse once lived and the lively resort of Saint-Jean-de-Luz (22km) with a great sandy beach and plenty of family-friendly activities, as well as an abundance of golf courses and lovely walks along the surrounding coastline and hills. Half an hour north of the villa, you’ll find the lovely seaside town of Soorts-Hossegor (33km), a world-renowned surfing mecca on La Côte d’Argent, the longest uninterrupted stretch of sandy beach in Europe.

The fantastic picturesque villages inland should not be overlooked, with the majestic Pyrénées on your doorstep you have a great selection, including two of France’s Plus Beaux Villages; pretty Ainhoa (31km) and Sare (31km), where you can take the old wooden train up to the summit of La Rhune, one of the most dominant peaks of the Pyrénées, where there are some restaurants with incredible views as well as hiking opportunities.
