This gem of of a brightly designed modern apartment is in a residential area very near the centre of glitzy Biarritz.

It’s only a short walk to shops, restaurants and one of the town’s most famous surfing beaches, La Côte des Basques. Another brief stroll takes you to the character and bustle of the covered food markets of Les Halles where you will be able to fill your fridge with all kinds of regional delights.

The third floor space is predominately light and airy with tasteful splashes of bright colour in each room giving a lively, arty feel. Wide glass doors slide open from the tropically themed seating area to a pretty outside veranda, the perfect place to take breakfast or chill out with a glass of wine. The cleverly designed main bedroom has an opening expanse of glass which reveals the greenery of the exotic living area and terrace beyond. The lucky occupants of the second bedroom have their own door to access the outside for midnight feasts beneath the stars.

Biarritz is an amazing town near the Spanish border with wonderful beaches, vintage buildings and excellent food. It attracts surfers from all over the world to its 6km of coastline and beyond and there are many surfing schools for beginners of all ages including children. You can escape from the waves by visiting the tiny sheltered beach at Port Vieux, much loved by locals and near the town’s main shopping street. There are superb Art Deco buildings around the town and beach which include the Casino and Aquarium.

Take a break from the sea by visiting one of the idyllic Basque villages inland such as Ainhoa and Sare where you can take a train up to the summit of La Rhune, one of the most dramatic peaks of the Pyrénées. For the energetic, the whole region has many outdoor activities such as walking, riding, fishing, cycling, canoeing as well as the myriad of water-sports along the coast.

Le Mistral is only a short walk from shops, restaurants and one of the town’s most famous surfing beaches, La Côte des Basques. Another stroll takes you to the character and bustle of the covered food markets of Les Halles where many local specialities can be found.

Beautiful Biarritz is an elegant seaside town on the Bay of Biscay in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region, south-west of France, near the border with Spain. In the middle of the 19th century aristocracy built their summer homes along the coast, including the well-known Hôtel du Palais, built by the wife of Napoleon III.

There are some exquisite Art Deco buildings around the town and along the beach, especially the Casino (also home to a theatre and swimming pool) and the Aquarium which is a must for sea-lovers or families.

Your nearest beach, La Côte des Basques, is a mecca for surfers and you shouldn’t miss the expanse of the city’s most famous beach, La Grande Plage. There is a small sheltered beach, much loved by locals, near the town’s main shopping street, Rue Port Vieux and further south, Plage Milady is also very family friendly.
The wilder northern beaches have wide, sandy stretches, some surrounded by grassland and forests, others backed by cliffs, many with beautiful promenades for walkers and cyclists. The pine forests at Les Landes are particularly fabulous for biking along their many trails.

Other coastal areas to visit include Ciboure to the south west where Matisse once lived and the lively resort of Saint-Jean-de-Luz with its huge sandy beach, plenty of family activities, golf courses and lovely walks along the surrounding coast and hills.

There are plenty of family beaches to be found in Biarritz alongside the most famous, La Grande Plage. Smaller children might especially enjoy beaches such as central Port Vieux and Milady to the south with its playground and gardens. There are surfing schools along the coast for beginners of all ages including children.

A good way to see Biarritz is by the little road-train with a trip lasting around half an hour. Stop off at the lighthouse for wonderful views and look out for the aquarium, a great place both for its Art Deco building and variety of marine life.

Further afield, visit the 12 acres of Animal Park at Labenne or you may prefer the Izadia Ecology Park in Anglet, right next to the beach. There’s more fun to be found at the Atlantic Water Park in Seignosse or try rock climbing at The Roof in Bayonne.

There are also plenty of family friendly activities at St- Jean- de- Luz such as trampoline parks, mini golf and another road-train to sandy beaches.
