This recently refurbished apartment is only a short walk from a scenic beach with fine golden sand and big waves. It’s just the perfect place for keen surfers or those who just love being by the ocean. Shops, restaurants and even a game of golf are easily accessible and it’s not far from the centre of glitzy Biarritz.

Le Libeccio has just everything you need for a relaxing holiday and you’ll particularly enjoy the large wooden terrace where you can sit with a glass of wine and enjoy great views across the surrounding area and towards the ocean - there’s even an outside shower to rinse off your wetsuits.

The two comfortable double bedrooms have artistic feature walls and the open plan living area has been ingeniously designed so that the study can be easily converted into a third bedroom. There’s still space for both a breakfast bar and a dining area which seamlessly opens onto the pretty terrace.

Your local surfing beach is framed by rugged cliffs and on a sunny day the Spanish Pyrenees are easily visible. When the tide is out you can walk northwards towards the sands of famous La Côte des Basques and Milady is another nearby beach with a children’s playground or Plage d'Ilbarritz with its cool summer beachside restaurants.

When you need a break from sand and surf, there is just so much to see and do in central Biarritz, just a couple of kilometres away. Have a look at some of the superb Art Deco buildings including the famous Casino and the Aquarium or head to the Port des Pêcheurs for some great restaurants and local seafood. Food lovers will enjoy sampling the Basque specialities to be found at the covered markets of Les Halles while the shopping mall at Biarritz Docks is just right for a spot of retail therapy.

The idyllic villages of Ainhoa and Sare, half an hour by car, should not be missed and, as a contrast to the excitement of Biarritz, Bayonne is a nearby peaceful town where you can meander along narrow streets or simply stroll by the river.

Biarritz is a lively and elegant town in the Bay of Biscay, south-west France, not far from the border with Spain and renowned for its huge beaches which attract surfers from all over the world. Aristocracy built summer homes here in the middle of the 19th century, inspired by Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III.

Le Libeccio is situated on a coastal road only a short walk away from a scenic beach with fine golden sand and popular with surfers. It’s beautifully framed by rugged cliffs and is a lovely place to relax and look across to the Spanish Pyrenees on a sunny day.

When the tide is out you can walk northwards towards the famous La Côte des Basques. Milady is another nearby beach to the south, very family friendly with a beachfront garden, children’s playground and plenty of free parking or head to the summer beachside restaurants and cool vibes around Plage d'Ilbarritz. There is also a tiny sheltered beach at Port Vieux (2km) near the town’s main shopping street, Rue Port Vieux.

You’ll need, of course, to visit La Grande Plage (3km) while you are here. Take in the atmosphere of the stripy beach tents, the children’s beach clubs and enjoy a spot people watching - shopping, cafés and restaurants are to be found nearby.

While the wet suits are drying on the balcony, it’s time to have a look around the heart of the town. Stroll along the promenade towards the lighthouse admiring the beautiful buildings along the way.

Head to the Port des Pêcheurs (2km) for some great restaurants and try out some of the local seafood. Gastronomers will love the covered markets at Les Halles (1.6km) with their many Basque specialities. The shopping mall at Biarritz Docks (3km) is great for a spot of retail therapy.

Needing a break from the bustle and excitement of Biarritz? Two of France’s Les Plus Beaux Villages, Ainhoa (24km) and Sare (22km), are the perfect remedy and Bayonne (10km) is a nearby peaceful town where you can meander along narrow streets admiring the historic architecture or simply stroll by the river.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Babies & Toddlers Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

There are so many fabulous beaches to choose from along Biarritz’s 6kms of sea and sand. Smaller children might enjoy beaches such as nearby Milady which has a children’s playground or the smaller Port Vieux (2km) in the centre of town.
There are many surfing schools and kids can also rent a bike or skateboard.

Take a sight-seeing tour up the coast for 30 minutes on the little Biarritz road train, then throw out the challenge of climbing the 200 steps at The Lighthouse towards the north of the town and enjoy relaxing afterwards at the café or on the little beach below.

There are 12 acres of Animal Park at Labenne (25km) or try out the Izadia Ecology Park in Anglet (9km) right next to Chiberta beach and the river Adour estuary. Indeed, all the wild northern Anglet beaches and forests are worth exploring and have some fabulous promenades and tracks for biking.

Enjoy a spot of rock climbing at The Roof in Bayonne (10km) and there are loads of family friendly activities at St-Jean-de-Luz (14km) - trampoline parks, mini golf and yet another road-train.
