Situated just outside Paphos Forest, in the coastal village of Argaka, Villa Taro provides a peacefully charming holiday home for up to six guests. With a clifftop location commanding panoramic views of the Mediterranean and surrounding countryside, this spacious 3-bedroom villa features a large outdoor area complete with 32 sqm private pool.

The magnificent pool terrace offers a variety of open and covered areas to sit and relax, enjoy a meal or lounge beside the pool itself. A pretty garden area provides some shade when you need it, and is made all the prettier by its ocean backdrop. Direct access from the terrace to the indoor living spaces makes for a seamless experience – you can weave in and out as you please.

The interior is attractively furnished and offers large, comfortable sofas, TV and an additional dining area. It all flows through to a modern kitchen which is equipped with a gas oven and hob, fridge, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. For your convenience, there is also internet access throughout the property.

Three double bedrooms (one of which can be used as a twin) are impressively styled, each one with an en suite bathroom with bathtub or shower. Two of the bedrooms are on the upper level, while the other is on the ground floor for easier access – its bathroom also has adaptions for the disabled.

Villa Taro is located around 2km from the beach, with the northern coast of the island just a short drive away. The nearby town of Polis Chrisochous offers many of the amenities you may need, including supermarkets and cafés within a short distance of Poli Beach. Heading west, you have pretty Latsi and the Akamas Peninsula National Park, while Paphos city is around 45 minutes’ drive south, and the main hub on the western side of the island – be sure to visit to discover its rich heritage through archaeological sites and iconic landmark buildings.

On the south-west coast of Cyprus, around 150km from the capital, Nicosia, Paphos is one of the island’s most popular destinations. This small city is culturally and archaeologically significant, enjoying UNESCO World Heritage status for the many remains which now form what is known as the Paphos Archaeological Park.

The Byzantine fort of Paphos Castle sits down on the water’s edge and is another notable attraction – it has since served time as a prison and a salt store and has been in the hands of the Ottomans and Venetians who both contributed to what is left of the castle today. Among the attractions of the Archaeological Park are several elaborate Roman villas with well-preserved mosaic floors, and the necropolis known as the Tomb of the Kings. An ancient odeon amphitheatre is also worth a look – it sometimes plays host to musical performances even now.

These days, Paphos is heavily dependent on tourism and has much more than an intriguing history to attract visitors. The beautiful white sand beaches undoubtedly help, as does Paphos’ much-mentioned connection to the goddess Aphrodite (it was her mythical birthplace). A selection of excellent restaurants and a good choice of bars ensure you need never go hungry, and there’s a decent range of shops – you will find plenty of familiar names at the Kings Avenue Mall, with an emphasis on fashion.

The vast Paphos Forest to the northeast of the city is a wonderful place to explore and provides a pleasing contrast to the coast. The island’s iconic peak, Mount Olympus is a little further east, as is the beautiful Caledonia Waterfall – both are within around 90 minutes’ drive of Paphos.

Villa Taro offers children a fine place to relax and enjoy nature, with its terrace and impressive outdoor pool sure to delight them. The beautiful beaches of Cyprus’ northern coast are not too far away, and perfect for a chilled out day out.

There are spectacular sights to be seen in this corner of the island, including Aphrodite’s Baths and the scenic Akamas region, and if they fancy an afternoon at the shops, it’s an easy drive down to Paphos to visit the mall or the markets. The city also has cinemas, live music venues and all sorts of other entertainment, as well as excellent opportunities to dine in the sun together.
