Overview

Pool Modern Ideal for Kids Walk to Beach Walk to Village

Located near the centre of Fazana on the western coast of Istria, Croatia, is Villa Vito; a beautifully designed two-storey villa set within its own private gardens complete with swimming pool. The villa is thoroughly modern both inside and out and accommodates up to 8 guests across 4 bedrooms and features a unique 2-in-1 luxury apartment design. Guests will instantly be struck by Villa Vito’s contemporary exterior of stone and glass, with its grey and white walls and huge floor to ceiling windows and double doors, as well as the neatly walled surround which includes a beautifully kept lawn area, patio, and outdoor dining area.

Upon entering the property guests will notice the incredibly modern open plan layout of the living, kitchen and dining areas. Large glass doors look out onto the pool area and the walls are of grey stone. A large flat-screen TV is embedded into the stone and is set opposite a large stylish sofa in cream, accented with rich magenta cushions; a colour that is picked up again and again within the wall-mounted artworks and ornamental orchids. The floors and furniture throughout are also very contemporary in style; the floors are a shiny marble effect of grey shades and white, and the coffee and dining table are a glossy white, perfectly complemented by the modern lighting fixtures, black leather chairs, and the glass-fronted fireplace set within a grey and white stone chimney breast.

Moving through the room towards the kitchen guests will notice the black and white island unit with stylish electric hob and downward lighting. The back wall is in glossy magenta with integrated electric ovens, fridge-freezer, warming drawers and storage areas. There is a toaster, microwave and dishwasher, as well as a coffee machine, and plenty of food preparation areas.
The first floor of Villa Vito has the same layout as the ground floor, with identical modern style and amenities. The sofas up here are black leather, and the colour accents in the artworks, soft furnishings, and kitchen, are a sumptuous turquoise, including the incredible seascape splashbacks. Double doors on this floor open out onto a small glass-fronted balcony area, complete with seating area for 2 guests.

Both floors feature a double and twin bedroom, all of which are very in keeping with the clean, modern look of the whole villa. The rooms are decorated white, punctuated with shades of turquoise or a vivid azure blue. The furniture is very contemporary in style, and there are flat-screen TVs mounted on the walls. Artworks and lighting fixtures also follow a very contemporary style, with the overall effect being spacious, bright and fresh.

The same theme is apparent in the villas 3 bathrooms, all of which feature a walk-in shower cubicle, toilet and basin. The bathrooms feature shiny marble surfaces in swirls of grey and white, turquoise accents, dark chocolate wood and slate grey tiling. The suites are all thoroughly modern, and the mirrors and lighting sparkle with a contemporary style.

Villa Vito features an entertainment room in the cellar, where guests can enjoy a game of darts, or make the most of the fitness equipment available. Lacking the glorious, glossy luxury of the rest of the villa, this space still oozes contemporary styling and really makes the most of what could otherwise be a waste of a large, beautiful space.

Guests will be pleased to know that the outdoor pool is heated, making it ideal to use at any time of the day, and there are plenty of sun loungers and seating areas where you’ll be able to enjoy your surroundings in total privacy. There is also a canopied outdoor dining area, and purpose-built charcoal grill, meaning that eating al-fresco is a must. The lawn area is well cared for and features a lawn watering system, and there is also an area where you will be able to play table tennis if you need a break from all that lounging around in the sun!

What you should know…

  • Villa Vito is thoroughly modern in design and facilities, so wouldn’t be ideal for those looking for a more cosy or homely style.
  • The accommodation is set across two separate apartments which may not suit all groups.
  • The property’s village location means that you are in relative proximity to your neighbours, so not a good choice for those looking for something more private or remote.

Villa Vito is located in the beautiful village of Fazana, once famous for its fishing and ideally placed if you wish to venture to the more touristy areas nearby such as Pula and Rovinj. There is a nearby beach which is popular with families as it offers a range of leisure activities, as well as the opportunity to try out the local cuisine at one of the many restaurants along the promenade. Life here is quiet and stress-free and visitors can enjoy cycling and hiking routes past small chapels and churches, and old Roman townhouses, before stopping at one of the pubs or cafes that are seamlessly integrated into the beautiful local scenery.

Nearby Pula is home to the Arena, the only Roman amphitheatre in the world with a complete circle wall and one of Croatia’s architectural gems. It is still used today as an outdoor cinema, and also hosts events from concerts to ice hockey, to food markets. Istria was part of Italy until 1947 and that is nowhere more apparent than in the influence of Italian cuisine in Pula. Here guests can enjoy pizza, pasta and gelato, as well as homemade bread and olive oils, and of course seafood.

Throughout the summer the area hosts a plethora of modern music festivals, covering everything from reggae to drum and bass, as well as classical music concerts, plays, and films; so it’s well worth finding out what’s on when you visit. One of Pula’s main attractions is the Lighting Giants illuminations, where a series of impressive cranes are illuminated as part of a light show every evening between 9 and midnight. Each year they become part of the Visualia festival which sees performances including 3D video mapping displays and audiovisual installations, all set over 3 days.

Region

Pula, located on the southern tip of Croatia's Istrian Peninsula, is a city with a rich history, stunning natural beauty, and a vibrant cultural scene. Exploring the city's old town, you'll find charming narrow streets, historic buildings, and picturesque squares. A stroll through the heart of the city allows visitors to immerse themselves in its unique blend of architectural styles, from Baroque palaces to Venetian facades.

Pula is a city steeped in history, with its roots dating back to Roman times. The most iconic symbol of the city is the Pula Arena, a remarkably well-preserved Roman amphitheater. Built during the 1st century AD, it is one of the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the world and one of Croatia’s most famous sights. Visitors can explore the galleries, stand on the arena floor, and even attend various events, including concerts and festivals held within its ancient walls.

The Istrian Peninsula is known for its stunning coastline, and Pula boasts numerous pristine beaches and coves. One of the most popular spots is Kamenjak, a protected natural park featuring rugged cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and diverse marine life. Nature enthusiasts can hike or cycle through the park's trails and enjoy breathtaking vistas of the Adriatic Sea. The coastal location is also ideal for water-based activities. Scuba diving enthusiasts can explore underwater caves and shipwrecks, while sailing and windsurfing are popular options for those seeking an adrenaline rush.

Just a short drive from Pula, the seaside town of Medulin offers a lovely promenade along the coast. You can take a leisurely walk, rent bicycles, or enjoy an ice cream by the sea. The shallow waters here make it a great spot for kids to play and swim.

For more family-friendly beaches, Verudela, Valkane, and Ambrela are all excellent options, offering playground facilities and water sports for older kids. Verudula beach is the home of Pula Aquarium which features a variety of Adriatic Sea creatures, including fish, seahorses, and various sea plants. The aquarium also has a touch tank, where children can get hands-on with the marine life!

Just a short boat ride from Pula is a collection of islands that make up Brijuni National Park. The park offers a unique combination of untouched nature, diverse flora and fauna, and historical sites. Visitors can explore the enchanting landscapes, visit the safari park, and explore the ruins of Roman villas and ancient churches. The park has golf carts available for touring, making it easily accessible for families with young children.

No visit to Pula is complete without indulging in the flavours of Istrian cuisine. The region is renowned for its truffles, olive oil, and world-class wines. Local restaurants offer a wide array of dishes that incorporate these prized ingredients. Be sure to try traditional Istrian dishes such as fuži (pasta) with truffles, maneštra (a hearty bean soup), and fresh seafood prepared in various ways.

Istria is also famous for its winemaking, and Pula is an excellent starting point for exploring local vineyards. Istrian wines, particularly Malvazija and Teran, are known for their unique character and are often paired with Istrian delicacies, creating a delightful culinary experience.

Whether you're exploring the ancient Roman heritage, relaxing on pristine beaches, or indulging in Istrian cuisine, Pula offers a unique and unforgettable Croatian adventure.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Villa Vito is spacious and open-plan with an enclosed garden area and heated pool, which will appeal to those with children. Younger families should be aware that there are a lot of hard surfaces and corners within the villa itself, and outside the pool is not fenced in any way. Having said that, well-supervised children are well catered for here with a high chair available, as well as a cot on request, and WiFi as well as flat-screen satellite TVs and DVD player, which is sure to keep little ones entertained when they are inside. Outside there are plenty of shaded areas, as well as a lawn area where the kids can run around to their heart’s content within the gated property, giving parents peace of mind. If you are travelling with teenagers they might enjoy having an entire floor of the villa to themselves, as Villa Vito is unique in its 2-in-1 apartment layout.

The village of Fazana is small, but the children will enjoy exploring its pretty streets lined with colourful houses and little cafes, whether on foot or by bicycle - there are 4 available at Villa Vito for you to use during your stay. There are plenty of options when it comes to food, with lots of restaurants in the courtyards or on the harbour, and there’s sure to be something on the menu to please everyone. There is often live music in the village square in the summer evenings, and children will love joining in with the authentic Croatian village life.

The village is home to two beaches, both perfect for kids thanks to their cleanliness and shallow waters. There are very few sandy beaches in Istria, and these are both pebble and shingle, so shoes for little feet are a must. The lack of sand won’t stop you from being able to spend hours with the family here. There are loungers and umbrellas for hire on both beaches, as well as pedalos and snorkelling equipment. Beach volleyball is popular on the beach, and there’s nearly always a game you can join in with, and there are giant inflatables situated just offshore, which will keep the kids entertained while you relax in the sun. Both beaches are within a short walking distance to lots of cafes and bars, which is ideal when you want to get out of the sun and enjoy some refreshments - and all without being covered in sand!

From Fazana it is possible to take a boat ride to the Brijuni National Park, a trip very popular with families, especially the sunset boat trips to see the dolphins. There are over a dozen Brijuni Islands, many of which don’t allow visitors as they are conserved for animal and plant life, but one of the available trips will take you to Veliki Brijuni, one of the largest islands, where you’ll be able to visit the Safari Park there, as well as the archaeological ruins and landscaped gardens. Or why not choose a boat trip that circles the National Park and allows stops for sea swimming and the opportunity to explore some beautiful coves? There really will be something for every member of the family to enjoy.
