Overview

Pool Beach Nearby Ideal for Kids

Bright, bold and beautiful, Villa Finida is an utterly unique and breath-taking villa in the Croatian countryside. Built in 1930, the villa holds a delightfully traditional charm, yet thanks to a 2016 renovation, the whole property is utterly contemporary, designed with the modern demands in mind!

There is a large living area, comprising a lovely long sofa in front of the TV and traditional fireplace, as well as a dining table for 10 to one end of the spacious room. The beautiful, modern kitchen sits alongside the dining room, with all the latest mod cons and all the kit you need for rustling up a tasty meal!

There are four fantastic double bedrooms and one twin room. There is a double, ensuite bedroom on the ground floor, ideal for those with reduced mobility, with three more places on the first floor. On the top level, there is the final double bedroom.

This is the most massive, most beautiful room, with a vast private terrace that offers a partial sea view and a casual place to enjoy a cuppa or even something a little stronger! Three of the rooms have bright and traditionally styled ensuite facilities, while two share a large family bathroom.

In the fabulous garden sits a majestic swimming pool – a dazzling centrepiece to this enchanting space, filled with entertainment and relaxation options. Around the pool itself you will find plenty of sun loungers where you can soak up the famous Croatian sunshine by day, and then a beautiful outdoor dining area for alfresco meals in style!

There is a children's play area with swings, a trampoline and even a volleyball and badminton court on the lawn, as well as football goals, forgetting the whole group, of all ages, involved in a little fun and games! On the veranda, you will find more casual seating.

Just 10km from the coast, and around 50 minutes from Učka Nature Park, a sprawling protected area with hiking routes leading to canyons, waterfalls and historic sites, you’ll find unspoilt nature a stone’s throw away.

One-third of the Istrian territory is forested, and the rest is carpeted with vineyards, olive trees, pastures and orchards, with ancient walled cities perched atop hills in the mountainous landscape, so you need merely stroll out of your front door to find the richness of Istria.

Just 10 minutes away is the delightful town of Vodnjan, well worth a visit to learn a little of its history, with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque influences, although more recently it has become more known for its many options for olive oil tasting.

The largest city in the region is Pula, around 20 minutes away and brimming with history and magnificent architecture. In early September the city comes alive with music and cultural events, many hosted in its ancient Roman Amphitheatre!

A very short drive from Pula, on the very southern tip of Istria, is the Kamenjak National Park where you can follow the ‘Dinosaur Path’ to discover dinosaur footprints and admire stunning views over the bay.

A charming heart-shaped peninsula in the north-west of Croatia, Istria is warm, welcoming and perfectly-sized – you can drive the length in around an hour, putting everything within easy reach!

From breath-taking scenery, rich history and a world-famous culinary scene – you will find it all in Istria! As a former part of the Venetian Republic, this region has seen many rulers from the Romans, Byzantines and Austro-Hungarians to the Italians and Yugoslavians. Now, a myriad of enchanting towns and villages, rich in history and culture, are nestled among the undulating countryside.

Active holiday-makers will be delighted with the offerings: from windsurfing in Medulin to scuba diving in the Brijuni National park and rock climbing, hang-gliding and walking in Buzet along the 15km ‘seven waterfalls’ walk, Istria has it all.

Both along the dramatic coastal paths and in the mountains inland, you will find an abundance of natural paths for cycling (including the scenic Parenzana route over an old railway line from Viznada to the Slovenian border) and rugged off-road hiking trails. Pick up a trail-map from any of the Tourist Offices, for loads of well-marked routes around the coast and in the Cape Kamenjak.

Much like its neighbouring Italy, Istria is a gastronome’s paradise, home to world-class cuisine and endless rows of vineyards. Be sure to try the local wines, which are often sweet and fruity, using a wide variety of grapes including white Malvasia, red Terrano and Moscato.

Istria is especially famous for its truffles, which you will find served with any dish and sauce! Truffle flavoured olive oil is a typical product of the region, and indeed, you will hardly find a village which does not have its own Olive oil ‘supermarket’ – there’s plenty in Vodnjan worth visiting!

Both Rijeka and Pula have international airports within a short drive of the villa, while Pula is the central hub for those getting ferries, although there is a daily ferry between Poreč and Venice.

Region

This heart-shaped peninsula was the birthplace of modern Croatian tourism, and it’s easy to see why. Its history has bestowed it with Italian sophistication, most obviously seen in pastel-painted coastal towns, like romantic Rovinj. But, tear yourself away from the Istrian coast, through the vineyards, olive groves, and dense forests, and you will discover brilliantly preserved medieval towns and villages, where cobbled streets reveal quaint galleries, sweet squares and sea-views.

Villa Finida is the ideal home for your family holiday. With a fabulous array of onsite facilities and so much to explore nearby you can guarantee making memories to treasure as well as a little peace and quiet while the kids get stuck in!

In the heart-shaped bubble of Istria, you will find many activities specifically designed for families, including the two sensational water parks of Aquapark Istralandia near Novigrad and Aquapark Aquacolors in Poreč.

There is also the Dino Park just outside the town of Funtana where the kids can enjoy seeing life-size dinosaurs in the wilderness, an amusement park and even a dino shooting range!

On the theme of Dinosaurs, just a short drive from Pula, on the very southern tip of Istria, is the Kamenjak National Park where you can follow the ‘Dinosaur Path’ to discover dinosaur footprints and admire stunning views over the bay.

All along the coastline you will find opportunities to rent boats, pedalos and snorkelling equipment (or even scuba diving if you’re feeling up to it!) to enjoy the pristine beaches and bays, while inland among the deep green, rolling mountains there are some of the most beautiful cycling and hiking trails in Europe.
