Location
About the surrounding area of Villa SampaguitaVilla Sampaguita is situated within the charming rural village of Gruda, which is itself the provincial capital of the lovely Konvale region. Konvale is a beautiful and unspoilt province that borders Montenegro to the south and Bosnia Herzegovina to the north. Often called ‘Croatia’s Tuscany,’ Konvale is a dazzling landscape of verdant valleys, trickling streams and secluded beach coves. Life moves at a slow ebb in Konvale and it is a place of tranquillity amongst nature.
Once the agricultural heartland of the prosperous republic of Ragusa, Konvale’s settlements and people proudly preserve the local heritage and customs. Those visitors eager to get the flavour of the regions culture should visit the nearby village of Cilipi (10.1km) where there is a weekly display of traditional folk dancing. The old Ducal palace at Pridvorje (7.3km) and the recently restored fortress at Sokol Grand (8.4km) also offer enchanting glimpses into the regions past.
Konvale is well suited to nature lovers who will delight in exploring the patchwork of peaceful olive groves, rustic vineyards and cypress forests. There are some excellent walking tours and a sea path horse-riding safari that leaves from the Koral stables (3.5 km). Besides this there are also quad bike tours and fishing trips from the village of Molunat (11.6km). For the less adventurous there is also a plethora of vineyards that offer wine tasting and grow the regions endemic grape ‘malvasija.’
For lovers of architecture, art and history, the beautiful town of Cavtat is a 20-minute drive (16.1km), whilst the UNESCO heritage city Dubrovnik is about 40 minutes (32km).
Cavtat is an utter gem of a town. Founded in the mists of antiquity by the ancient Greeks, this beautiful settlement is a beguiling mix of striking natural scenery and charming cobbled streets and houses.

About Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is one of the world’s most beautiful walled cities, and one of the most interesting places to stay in Europe. The old town is a knot of limestone streets – worth getting lost in, to stumble upon elegant palazzi and baroque churches. Beyond the sturdy medieval fortifications is a stunning rocky coastline, dotted with pebbly beaches, while islands cast adrift from mainland Croatia are just ready to be explored.
While you’re enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Dubrovnik you may well want to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we’ve put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
