Nestled on the upper slopes of the picturesque harbour town of Mlini, is the charming 3-bedroom Villa Safranka. Boasting glorious views over the shimmering Adriatic and offering an attractive range of features, this luxury villa is a wonderful spot for some mediterranean relaxation.

The villas exterior is quite stunning. Its rustic stone walls, quaint green shutters and terracotta roof blend in beautifully with the surrounding scenery and immediately convey a sense a peace and tranquillity. The villa looks out onto the sparkling hues of the nearby sea and is bordered by a wilderness of trees and vegetation. Behind the villa, striking mountains stretch into silhouettes on the blue horizon. Cypress and pine trees speckle the landscape and fill the air with a blissful fragrance, contributing to the atmosphere of deep serenity that visitors will relish.

Inside, the villa’s style is rustic and welcoming, characterized by a lovely fusion of stonework and wood panelling. On the ground floor is a country-style kitchen/dining-room furnished with attractive hand-crafted wooden furniture that hints at an alpine theme that complements the environs. The kitchen is equipped with all modern appliances and the space is perfect for leisurely intimate meals.

Upstairs, the living room is a charming space made up of a large L-shaped sofa and a generous cable TV and DVD player. The room’s focal point is the atmospheric  fireplace that will come into its own on those chillier evenings...

The villa’s bedrooms are comfortable, inviting and tastefully furnished. One of these is located in the separate annex on the ground floor, allowing those staying here a pleasant sense of privacy. The master-suite on the second floor leads on to a marvellous balcony with a table for two from which guests can gaze out over the mountains and the sea with its far-off islets.

Head outside and Villa Safranka continues to beguile. There is a size-able infinity swimming-pool tiled with glass mosaics and equipped with night lighting. Around the pool are a welcome array of sun loungers and pristine white sun-umbrellas where guests can indulge in lengthy siestas... There is also a gorgeous sun-deck tailor-made for those eager to get some bronzing time in.  The house has a pretty front garden while at the rear of the house is found an extensive and charming area with a large stone barbecue on which guests can cook delicious freshly caught fish and local produce. Next to the barbecue is a covered terrace and dining area furnished with a handsome teak table. This space provides the perfect area for al-fresco dining.

What you should know…

  • The villa is on a hill so sauntering down to the seafront is considerably easier than sauntering back up!
  • Dubrovnik in the day can be especially busy during the months of July and August, you'll be pleased to retire to your beautiful residence after a day of exploring
  • Those travelling in groups of larger than 6 should note that 2 guests will need make use of the sofabed in the living room

Villa Safranka is located in the hills overlooking the picturesque fishing village of Mlini. It is just a seven-minute walk from the Mlini harbour and seafront. The beautiful and venerated city of Dubrovnik is only a 15-minute drive away (11.4 Km), whilst the ancient Hellenistic town of Cavtat is also easily accessible (9Km).

Mlini itself is a delightful village of authentic stone houses and some beautiful churches. The natural setting of the village is spectacular - lush mediterranean greenery and pine covered hills surround the village’s pebble beaches and shady promenades. The place hums with quiet serenity and visitors will love exploring the floral gardens and scenic coves dotted around Mlini bay. 

There are plentiful culinary opportunities down at the seafront and guests can feast on fresh fish and organic wine in any number of lively local restaurants.
Mlini also boasts some enticing local beaches, most notably Mlini and Srebreno. Both are within easy walking distance from Villa Safranka and offer shady pebble beaches and shallow jade waters, making them perfect for family excursions. For those more inclined towards cultural exploration, the nearby Church of St Rocco, (1.5Km) is a must.

Just a short drive from Mlini is situated the glorious and ancient city of Dubrovnik. Described by George Bernard Shaw as ‘paradise on earth,’ Dubrovnik is frequently described as one of the most beautiful cities on earth, as evidenced by its status as an UNESCO world heritage site. Once the prosperous capital of the ancient republic of Ragusa, Dubrovnik is a maze of aristocratic piazzas, baroque churches and medieval fortresses. It is a resplendent example of an archaic walled city and provided the setting for much of the popular ‘Game of Thrones’ series. Dubrovnik is home to the oldest arboretum in the world as well as Europe’s third oldest pharmacy. Visitors of Dubrovnik must be sure to visit the city’s ‘Rectors palace’ as well as the fascinating Maritime museum. A trip up Mount Srd on the city’s cable car is also an unforgettable experience.

There is much in Mlini and the surrounding region that will keep the kids happy and entertained. Mlini beach is a lovely and shady pebble beach with shallow waters - perfect for little ones to safely splash around. Dubrovnik’s city beach of Banje is also a great place for children with heaps of activities on offer including water-skiing, beach volleyball and inflatables for hire. There are also some exciting boat tours, which take visitors out to the local islets for a day’s snorkelling, swimming and cliff jumping. The ‘Aquarius Diving Centre Mlini’ in Mlini, is just minutes from Villa Safranka and obviously perfect for any budding divers in the group.
